im totally lost with downloads please some1 help me!!!

when i click on rar file to download to puts me to rapidshare ,i click download and it asks where to i click save,it then downloads but when i try play it says on windows ,windows not support this file,rar,,says maybe codex rong?other sites same,i downloaded moovida,,was told this would take ,nothing there,,i then was told to download winrar,,i did,,,and jdownloader,,,but althiough ive got these when i click on ripidshare,download it pops up where to save box est,,and i click and goes to same again nojoy,,what actually is winrar,,and jdownloader,,,how does this help i dont get it,,,,ohhh please guys help me out,,im totally lost,,i love the site but i fear im gonna have to jack it in without help,,,pleaseeee??

Install 7-zip. That will enable you to extract the contents of the .RAR files you download.

which 7zip do i need to download please,im running windows vista,,,
could you also explain what are the winrar and jdownloader of use 4 plesae,,how do they help?,cos as i say it just downloads to comp,,and i dont get how winrar and jdownloader helping me,

it just comes up windows media player cannot play the file..the player might not support the file type or may not support the codec that was used to compress the file,, god i feel so in above my head here,,i hope you can help me throgh it,,i clicked in 7zip extract the files,,,i must be doing something wrong or something mi,sing, plus wheres the jdownloader come in to it????

I take it you have 7zip installed? I do not use it myself I use winrar, (winrar and 7zip are data compression programs).

After downloading the file from rapidshare, (or what ever filehoster you are downloading the files from), you will want to merge and or extact the files to get the original file. When dealing with a file with a .rar extension right click on the file, (if there is more than one file right click on the part1.rar file), and choose the extract option. Choose the folder you want to extract the file to. You should then have the playable video file.

If you have trouble playing the video I would suggest VLC found here:

i did as you said,clicked and extracted it to new folder,however when clicked play in vlc player came up,,,unrecogognised format for c.yko wmv03???,,any ideas,,,
whats codex,,should i download something 4 this??

thk elgingo very kind to help me but it isnt really the joining i sadly have only tried to download 1 of the pieces even and it will not open and play?
once ive downloaded it to my downloads what do i do next because ive tried opening it but nothing,,,

Cclick on that link you just posted and see where it takes you? does it take you to the post where you got the links of the file that you are trying to extract? No. It does not. When you find a link that does, then post it here. Don't post any other link here or I will give you an infraction for trolling.

Like Ceewan asked, please link to or at least state what vid you are downloading and where you are finding it on the board.

The fact that your file has the extension ".003" at the end of it means its a section of a larger file that needs to be joined to play, which is why elgringo14 posted the link on how to join files.

In my experience with HJsplit files, you can edit the file extension from "yoko.wmv.003" to "yoko.wmv" and it should actually play.

But if you then want to join the file with the other parts of the video, you'd have to change the file back to "yoko.wmv.003" and use a joining program to put them together.

You've got instructions for extracting archives files, and you've got instructions for joining .001+.002+etc files. That's all you need, the rest is up to you.
