Hi Rakunisiteyo,
I have used (and still use) torrents, but with these files it's a bit difficult. In total it's more than 1 TB of data and I don't think anybody is willing to start downloading a torrent of that size. Seeding something that big would take me probably 60 days (non-stop). That means I should have to create multiple torrents. But even if I would do it by label, some will still be to big (to much data). By movie then?? Oh no... 1179 torrents, no thanks.
I know that you can put multiple files in a torrent (txt file with the movie info, 2 jpeg files with cover and screen) but then you would have to download first to see what it is. Or search for it with Google and hope to find it on a (Japanese) site so you can see what it is before you decide to download it.
No, this is much easier. Everybody can now see directly what it is and download or skip the file(s). I simply have to write a few more PHP scripts to automate things more and make it easier for myself.
But, I have no problems with it if you create torrent files and post them in the torrent section here on Akiba.
greetings,
Colweb
Oh, no no. I think the kind of torrents you have used before are different from what I'm talking about. In a torrent you can not only put multiple files, but you can also put a full directory structure with folders and subfolders etc. Also, torrent client programs allow you to select only certain files from a torrent to download and seed. For a large collection like this, usually you would have a separate folder inside the torrent called, say, "Samples" or something like that. There, you could put all these images you have been posting in the thread, with the sample frames from each video, all in that folder. (You could also add jvr.pdf and a text file for the video metadata you are posting in the thread.)
For someone who wanted to download from the torrent, first they would load the torrent into their torrent client and only select the Samples/ folder. Once those were downloaded, they would pick what they want and then enable those files in the torrent. Then the torrent client would begin to download and seed those files. Works quite well
Of course, it's best if there's at least one "full seed" who has the actual whole collection (like you), but it can work even if nobody has all the files, as long as every file has someone in the swarm who has that file. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link to torrents from other sites as examples, but I have seen several such large collections, even >1TB.
As for seeding for 60 days, again it depends on the person's situation but personally I have at least a couple dozen torrents that I've been seeding continuously for more than a year on my computer
I don't really have to do anything, just run the torrent client in the background while using my computer, with the proper settings so it doesn't suck up all of my upload bandwidth. Of course, as more seeds appear, the amount of actual bandwidth this requires from me decreases. Most of my old torrents actually never need any seeding -- their ratio is so high that my torrent client deprioritizes them unless I'm the only seed online, haha.
If you don't make a torrent, I don't think I can... I think I have the disk space to download all the videos, and I am willing to seed the torrent, but as ryushare only allows me to download two rar files every day, and each video is several rar files, I wouldn't even be able to get the files for several years! And even you will take more than a year to upload the whole collection, at the rate of 20 videos per week
But if someone makes the torrent, I will at least seed the part of it which I have downloaded from ryushare (so far I only managed to get 3 full videos yet)... I hope other people might be willing to do the same for the videos they downloaded
