JAV DVD stores in Japan - photos

Got back from Tokyo few weeks ago, usually go once a year, twice if I'm lucky. Just want to share some of the photos I took from the stores during my trips there..

First time I went to Tokyo was back in 2009, spent 2 weeks travelling around the country - landed in Tokyo, went to a bunch of places then headed back to the original destination for the return flight. I remember the first time I went to the JAV stores in AKB selling this stuff, absolutely insane when you see it for the very first time. Posters of upcoming movies plastered all over the walls, signed merchandise, sex toys, etc. leading all the way up to the next floor. On the outside the building looks tiny but when you are inside, it's like a maze, easy to get lost - the shelves are so close to each other it's easy to knock stuff over (knocked a few things over myself). Crazy on how much stuff they have in just one of these shops. I did a 4-hour tour around AKB back in 2009 and managed to go to most of the adult video stores in that small amount of time.. now, I think they opened up a few more stores but not that many many. Anyone looking to buy DVDs for steal prices should head to Book-Off - they sell mountain loads of pornographic DVDs for peanuts, among other stuff - books, video games, toys, music and normal movies, etc. The Book-Off stores have basically everything, though the Akihabara branch isn't that good, nor big - the best Book-Off stores in the Tokyo area are outside AKB. If you are looking for new releases / brand new (and some pre-owned stuff) Lammtarra and the sister stores are a good choice - these stores also used to sell a ton of U-15 stuff also, but they have less and less of that stuff nowadays compared to 9 years ago. You can find signed autographed photos / panties, etc. with some of the DVDs also. But for the junior idol DVDs, you can't really find a good selection of them anymore at Lammtarra. Only place that I saw a good selection of them is at a anime toy store beside Electronic Town exit of Akihabara station, forgot the name of the shop but they have lots of anime figures on display at the entrance, ground floor is anime goods, second floor has music CDs, etc. top floor is where you can find the U-15 / idol photo books. Funny thing about the shops that sell JAV - you can wander around and find heaps of places that look innocent enough - bunch of stuffed teddies, anime figurines, video game consoles, etc. at the entrance of the store, when you walk in you see more of this stuff, then you finally reach the back of the shop - fully loaded with hardcore porn DVDs. Got to see it to believe it.

Outstanding!!! Thanks for that literal insight! Amazing the number of titles around that shop. I always wondered with the amount of digital releases each month they have to correspond with an actual physical release, and where would they all go? :D I guess in places like that!

Thanks for the pictures, I always find the pictures of Japanese shops like this fascinating compared to the shops locally in the US, maybe because it's JAV. I could definitely see myself spending hours in a store like that. I'd probably turn into that guy that would spend all his free time there.

Always loved JAV stores, and have always downloaded everything relating to them. Great thing you have posted clear pics, as most videos are very blurry. I had a guy film inside a JAV store for me once, but it only lasted for 20-30 mins, and half of that was standing around, or walking to the store. Much appreciated!

Also a big fan of Book Off. As a Minimalist, I love to have the ability to go there (never been to Japan, but will soon), and just read.

Oh you will love Japan's Book-Offs. The Japanese, for the most part, take excellent care of their property and for the most part, dislike second hand items. This leads to having really cheap, high quality second hand JAV, CD, Books ect.

Yup, Book-Off is the best place to go if you are looking for old (and new pre-owned) stuff - I bought a lot of secondhand retro video games and JAV DVDs for next to nothing. Last time I was there I picked up a complete in box Super Famicom game for under $1.50 USD (which resold for more than $20) - was like 99.9% new condition, really crazy how pristine condition the items are in. There's also a Hard-Off store, much bigger but I never seen them within the city, more outskirtish city limits.

Thats because even though Japan is a very materialistic country, they still retain some level of respect and reverence for their items and collectibles they purchase. While I don't like consumerism in its current form, even I can appreciate Japan for its peoples respect of their property.

Not to too one's on horn but I, without knowing it, have always treated my property this way. I can't understand people who damage iPhones, break screens ect. It just doesn't happen if you look after stuff :/

But yes, back to topic. The Japanese have their good points and their bad points but the way they treat their property with respect is refreshing :)

On a side note, if you're in Tokyo keep an eye out for litter and trash cans. AFAIK trash cans aren't in public (due to the subway atacks I think) but there isn't litter anywhere. It's amazing.

here are some photos i took myself

and by the way you can walk into the local donquihote (largish all-purpose store) and walk past vibrators and stuff (the egg shaped ones), with half a curtain veiling all the other sex toys.
kids are in this store all the time 1 metre away at the little toy section or walking past etc.

these are from a local anime megastore. i spent like 2 hours wading through the 2nd hand hentai shelves looking for lolicon.
found a bunch.
poor guy at the counter couldn't believe what he was seeing.
i lulled.

floor had a massive gay section. there was literally 3x more shotakon (even on front-row display) than there was lolicon there. like REALLY shotacon stuff too.
the gay/shotakon was right next to the love live/boyband stuff. the aisle next to it was the female romance stuff. shop counter was adjacent.

how can i share these sorts of photos hmmm.

by the way, that is Gay Spiderman

prices can besuper cheap (you can see 100yen/1USD) but the manga might just be 5 pages long. or they might be 1000 yen/8 dollars. but if you go and buy like 5 different ones it can add up fast.

i can show you what i bought sometime but not now zzz

Im curious now as to how much Hentai (Specially loli) gets released that most sites dont upload...
