Not too long ago, someone was saying he wished Yui Hatano (age 30, porn age 10) would retire now. And then it was Acky (age 34, porn age 15) who unexpectedly announce retirement. I was thinking yeah it's a good topic to discuss who (subjectively of course) ought to retire.

Yui Hatano, 10 years is indeed very long already. I am not her fan, meaning I almost never watch her solo vids. But she still looks hot and she's always a good member in any group sex vid. Obviously she is doing fine at the box office so if she retires, it's not a huge loss to me, but it's still a loss.

Akiho, 15 years is even longer. The way I feel about Acky is 100% identical to Hatano... except hmm maybe Acky doesn't make group sex vid nearly as often. So in a way her retirement may be meaning a very minimal loss for me. OTOH, Akcy has one all time epic classic that will stay in my head for the rest of my life: Unicycle Policewoman. I wrote a long post about it... Anyway I perfectly understand a woman losing drive and passion after 10 or 15 years (an eternity) in AV. Wish her the best. Will be curious her post-retirement career/life (IIRC, she mentioned there's no marriage in the near future)
View attachment 1508638

Two more I mention, I actually wish them to retire:
Yumi Kazama 風間ゆみ (age 39, porn age 19) she is old and fat, which is not a sin. There are plenty of old and/or fat performers, but they only make grandma porn and/or fat porn which doesn't affect me, I don't know their name or face. I want Kazama to retire because (1) she was young and hot once, and I fapped to her early vids plenty, she is the only one of my fav idols who does an Fat Elvis on her fans. (2) Instead of grandma and fat porns (which I easily filtered away), she pops up all the time in series that I'm interested in (JUFD-, JUY-, CESD-). She isn't packaged as old and fat (make-up and fashion like a 45+) but as a "hottie" or MILF, even wearing a sailor suit on a recent cover. Esp on group sex vids, so many times there's a multi-idol cover that I would be very interested in but because she's in the vid I pass it up. Please go away, either retire, or at least get off my fav series and act like your age and weight.

View attachment 1508655

翔田千里, I won't bother finding her English name... . She's grandma idol so I have no business knowing and complaining about her. I admit including her is entirely unfair and petty, only to inflate my list here and vent my frustration she nearly ruined a viewing experience with Yui Hatano and Mio Kimijima in Prostitution mother child family. Well curiously Yui Hatano was the name that started this discussion and Mio Kimijima is also debatable if she should retire already. Anyway the theme was interesting Yui and Mio are (still) fappable, esp. together. So I checked it out and only to be hit by the "mother" who I didn't pay attention to. OK it's my fault not researching her before getting the vid, it's my fault I got erectile dysfunction for 10 minutes but I'm blaming her and calling for her retirement. She ruined a vid with Mio and Yui, she has no business in any vid with any idol that I can name. Yes notice she was on the last cover too.
View attachment 1508654
Yumi Kazama and Chisota Shota ruining your fav series? I haven't watched a Yumi Kazama video in years. I can count the number of Chisota Shota videos on one hand in my collection. More than likely their movies make money because of their fans. Studios will hire them until profits take a downturn. I thought Yumi would get behind the camera because it seems like a natural transition for her. IIRC Supmop mentioned Chisota has retired and comeback several times. Perhaps she is addicted to the camera.

Based on what she said :-
Ok right it's right there in point 6, my fault not bothering to pinpoint the ref.

But what's point 7? It's saying absolutely nothing. Until 5 years she has no right NOT to allow circulation, after 5 years she said nothing to say she will delist her vids. It's not the regular Japanese word art of meaning something by saying something else. Here point 7 is really nothing, unless I'm missing something lost in translation.

As for your remaining remarks, it's based on nothing and saying nothing. Did she say she is going to mainstream media? I don't see it anywhere. It's yet another trademark jwlim hot air. Keeping herself listed on AV agency is actually implying she's not striding out to non-AV opportunities. If I guess, I'd guess she will be no more than doing a few hours of work (meet and greet etc) per month, even zero. And the income would probably not cover her afternoon snacking. There's even a good chance she won't do any more actual work with the agency and only allow her name to stay on the roster because the agency want to use her name to recruit new girls. Anyway all is speculation yours is no better than mine and no better than saying nothing. I won't mind discussing possibilities but your tone is trying to be authoritative but actually is unsupported.

Seem to me she is the intelligent and careful and wise type. She has been thinking about it and have a solid plan. If she told nothing about the plan to AV fandom I take it to mean there is actually a plan, and a solid sensible plan that doesn't involve sex (e.g. working the hostess scene). Which is exactly not "leveraging her fame". Nor do I see anything that says she need to or want to erase her AV career.

The one thing that she said that makes no sense to me is point 10. Sure a farewell gravue book makes excellent business and sentimental sense. But crowdfunding? That's out of left field. I wonder if it's the amateur interviewer injecting something unneeded and unworthy.

Finally your line "reporting saying the younger generation of AV fans finding her a has-been." Based on your past records, I won't bother with it until you post the original source.

What about the point about wanting to produce work that are outside of adult nature :-

"引退後は色んなプロデュースやアダルト以外のお仕事を精力的にやっていきたい"

And the original Japanese text states that she is only "graduating" and not "retiring". Join the dots and make your connection. For me it's clear she's making a break for mainstream.

As for her popularity, there's no official poll, it's just a popular opinion on BBS that came out every now and then and here's one in chinese that you can understand :-

https://www.ptt.cc/bbs/japanavgirls/M.1485015323.A.F8F.html

Look at how many times the name Yoshizawa turns up.

And there's the opinion by JAVTweets :-

Indeed, the popularity of Acky in the AV world has decreased. She has reached the peak of popularity in the AV World a few years ago. Maybe now she feels she is unable or tired to increase her popularity in the AV world because competition is getting tighter. She needs a "new place or way" to increase her popularity again. I remember the interview with emiri some time ago. The reason she entered AV world was because of her career in the model it was stuck and not developing again. So she decided to enter AV world and hoped that her popularity would be grow. Maybe for Acky, this is the best way to increase her popularity, which is currently starting to going down

Based on what she said :-

And once she is comfortable with her place in mainstream entertainment, she will exert her 5-year-rule rights and wipe her past clean.

Or maybe this was her plan all along and she was throwing caution to the wind, seeing the current state of the AV industry and her shrinking fanbase and shrinking income with reporting saying the younger generation of AV fans finding her a has-been. She burning out is just an excuse.
That's complete BS, why would she wipe 15 years of her life away? and there's no way that makes sense, you've talked about the likes of Sora Aoi, or Maria Ozawa doing it but they haven't, legends have no reason to wipe there stuff

Second part is also bs she had a steady income, and a loyal fanbase, heck if she didn't she'd do more then 2 vids a month for 15 years, her burning out is not an excuse

Wow when did JAVTweets become reliable? because they've never been, they just throw things at a wall, and speculate on whatever they come up with, she was around 15 years that's double most jav careers, her being burned out and wanting to do something new isn't because "the younger generation doesn't like her" Also she's always done stuff for the mainstream, that's nothing new doesn't mean because of that she's going to clear everything. Lastly on the new shiny toy comment, why is Tsubomi still popular if everyone wants the new shiny toy? she's been around a decade+

I don't know Japanese so going off from Google Translate I can't be sure. So indeed it's possible 仕事 implies some public media celeb thing, but if that's her plan it seems to be a painfully circuitous way to tell so little of it. Seems more likely 仕事 is generic word for occupation, e.g. whole or part owner of bar/cafe/restaurant.

It's even possible it's something she didn't want to say but forced out of her by the interviewer. The "crowdfunding" suggest to me the interviewer is inexperienced and subjective. Or Acky says it to emphasize the negative fact she doesn't want to do sex and nudity not to emphasize the positive fact there's a future career. She's saying in as polite way as possible, you horny creeps can stop following me now.

As for your more points... I will discuss together with paparoach.

That's complete BS, why would she wipe 15 years of her life away? and there's no way that makes sense, you've talked about the likes of Sora Aoi, or Maria Ozawa doing it but they haven't, legends have no reason to wipe there stuff

Well what she will do in year 2024 (2019+5) I have absolutely no idea. It may make sense or it may not. But it's a little silly to argue about something so far in the future. It's fine to speculate and argue, I would be OK with anyone coming out with his pet theories and ideas. But at least when you and I speculate we say in a way that's clear we own what we say. My problem with jwlim is not he says "she probably will do X", but he says in a way that seems authoritative "she tweet Y... so... she will do X". Jwlim tries to make Acky or interviewer or someone else owns what jwlim says. So many times the thread went 1000 miles off track because of disagreeable controversy injected by jwlim rather than coming out of AV industry.

Well actually there's some universal truth in it. The average AV career is 2 years. So many vets and stars abandon their established name to be either fake amateur with no name or fake debutante with new name. The fandom is fickle and unloyal.

I also find jwlim's choice of word "burnout" to be distractful, no one else uses similar negative connotation with Acky but it's classic jwlim to choose words with darker shade. Nonetheless... "burnout" is not unfair for Acky, she said pretty much the same thing several times not just now but multiple times in recent years.

The point is that she does want to quit, but "burnout" can be misinterpreted as having suffer some mental exhaustion or stress or disability. She is not being forced to retire due to shrinking sales. She's not very popular amongst the younger fans is probably objective truth. But would the studios care? Would she care? She is still a top 10 idol in the industry and that's more than good enough.

Perhaps she already has her residence fully paid, with no outstanding loan to anyone, enough saving to give herself 2-3 years holiday. Well anyone would be understandable to wake up and say, "I just don't feel like doing that same 15 year thing any more".

Again it's fine to express your personal opinion, in fact I often find @paparoach408 opinion/speculation questionable or debatable too. But I rarely make a fuss about it because he's clear what's his personal opinion and he's always respectful to the idols.

If you have any doubt about single words it's probably best to paste them in dictionary such as https://jisho.org/
Thanks. I don't always check dictionary because often dictionary aren't good enough for similar debate. In all language but especially true for Japanese, context and subtle things may add or subtract meaning to a word's dictionary definition.

But I remember you are fluent in the language, @sturmtruppen so how to you interpret that line?

Can't believe shes retiring without doing a single lesbian scene. If she did some it would for sure increase her popularity. Even Emiri did lesbian movies after years of saying she would never do it she enjoyed it a lot too!

I don't understand why she never did such a genre (lesbian, creampie, anal etc). I guess this is a new way that might increase her popularity again. Maybe she thinks, she doesn't need to do a genre like that because she has get enough fans or she really doesn't like genres like that. Is it possibble her fans started leaving him because of that?

Akiho's friends from her era or muscat/other groups all went silent after retiring a few years either due to health, marriage, or other issues. Aino, rio, Yuma, and many others barely update. Yua Aida went unnoticed for years. I guess some just want to live a normal life in their own seclusion. Sora aoi, Maria Ozawa are still active because they're still striving to be an actress or host and sora is still popular like asuka to attract ton of fans on social media live and events. She never been in the news besides supporting an idol for offending china because she's Taiwanese and her 15th anniversary event with friends. she's kind of like jessica with the diet and casual updates. Akiho only been typecast in sleazy bcinema or foreign net movies or shady gaming company's ad like yui, but recent years she's probably over taken by new girls like Julia to arina and Mikami & shoko. She probably don't want to go the ai Uehara quantity over quality with all sort of nasty niche titles. I suspect she probably don't even want to do the recent less vanilla titles, but she probably need to fulfill her contract obligation and now she's done. I guess she prefilmed everything and will be attending events only. Idk if she will change her mind like amami tsubasa, but amaini sounds like she used a tactic to get a better contract. Asuka is just a diva. Also, I noticed yui hatano filmed a bit less and update lesser on social even though she did a few foreign events with film ads and games, so maybe she's retiring soon. A few of her friend or her senpai retired and gotten married like okita along with her real age and probably less money making opportunities, she might have more thought about the future and her family. Hibiki and aika are left with ruka leaving. Not a lot of av idols can be still famous and relevance for so long especially with fans attentions span nowadays along with competitions and turnover. Hibiki, Jessica, satomi, and only a few more are in this category, but they're level of fame in asia overall still pales to some of what I mentioned before.

Also, Another victim ? Deleted social like koharu. A lot of fans still send the invisible online messages to her.
http://www.playno1.com/article-28148-1.html#.W7sR_B8pC2c
Brainwash or not.coerced by a pimp agent or not. Av is not for everyone without the mindset to forgone a lot of things from your personal lives and Put on a mask. It's so easy to damage and distrust someone nowadays.
Sure some are real, but like the metoo movement, people take advantage of being the victims. Meanwhile, there are real powerful people like celebrities, politicians, or businessmen gets no repercussion or consequences and people just accept it, ignore it, or support it because they're their fmsous idol / role model.

We love av and some even like crazy rapey objectifying pedo niche, but there are so much what goes on bts we don't know. Competition, events, on set filming experience, etc. how much of it is script? There's the whole moral thing with the wtf Japan generalization and stereotypes, but most love it, but won't let anyone they know especially family member or gf joining the av industry. Also, I know Japan are strict and secretive about dating in the entertainment industry, but most of the same av actors are married or married normal women, so even they can't accept av idols as spouses even though they're the typical innate respectful and politeness in the Japan culture.
What's private stay private and let the agency do its work promoting you to become famous. Sometimes, attentions is not good with some touchy uncle fans or socially awkward autistic stalkerish introvert. No one want to see someone they're close with even a regular school mate or crush film crazy shit.
Also, Though growing older personally along with the power of social media growth that connects people together, it kind of used for creating more scandal and exposing when the reality frabic is cut open. It's like reality hits and so many things are fake and staged. I'm not talking about reality game shows or dating show, but like the YouTube documentaries and disses are all a scam and ploy. Maybe that's why muscat aren't that popular anymore. The formula of being "genuine" need to change.

Maybe she didn't want to do them, or never had a need to do them? and she was around 15 years, the risk of going into unknown territory so deep in, would probably be a bit unwise, sure she might make new fans but alienating her fans that have been with her forever probably isn't worth it, plus the studios shes with really don't do that, Maxing does Creampies and that's probably what her last video for them will be, but rarely any of the others, while S1 is Vanilla royalty, so another thing why lose a comfy set up for the unknown, she was around 15 years her potential growth was limited anyways. I still mainly think she retired because she was just burned out, not many girls have been around that long, Yumi Kazami has been around since 97,Yuria Satomi since 04, Sho Nishino on and off since 05, Tsubomi, and Maki Hojo since 2006, and Reiko Sawamaru, Hibiko Otsuki and Yui Hatano since 08 are some of the current longest tenured

Lesbian vids had always been a minor fringe (vs. a major fringe e.g. anal). It's common enough for a sunset top star to do one or two un-ban (say, anal) or uncensored vid for a big pay day. The reason it's big enough to tempt an established top star to cross the line is that huge sales is guaranteed. There are of course the typical fans of that genre buying in (say anal fans), and her usual fandom (in this (imaginary) case all Acky fans would buy in any of her un-ban vids) and even you will get a lot of "gawkers" who buy in only for the shock value (not her fan, but a top star doing un-ban is worth a checking out).

(side bar: very recent trend is that lesbian is getting less fringe, but that's another discussion)

So even cross her own red line may be possible.

So I quite disagree she and/or the studios have any concern about alienating vanilla fans. The calculation is, a retired idol's commercial value is much reduced anyway, so losing a few vanilla fans is only a lost in intangible feelings, not tangible money. Getting a last big pay day is worth more than the total future trickle of deadhard vanilla fans.

What's Acky going to do? Her retirement is still a long way off. I don't remember ever seeing a top idol announce retirement so far ahead. She might still do some un-ban vids. She might do uncensored vids. Hack she could even un-retire before she retires. Of course she might stay vanilla till the end, she might be gearing up for some mega planning vids (series of vids) for her farewell similar to Hibiki Ootsuki's ongoing Creampie Tour (HNDS-058 already released). (side bar: Yui Hatano is in the filming process for a similar mega planning)

If Acky really will keep her vanilla-virginity then it is solid proof that she is going out on top. No amount of money will tempt her to open her asshole or expose her vagina. That's what the hints are at anyway. She's quitting for internal (her hearts) not external (sales, money, fame) reasons. My heart is happy for her (if that's how it pans out) but my head wishes she will do a Ayumi Shinoda retirement (anal censored vid, first uncensored vid no creampie, final uncensored vid with creampie)

Lesbian is very popular now about 10 years ago maybe 20% of Jav stars were doing lesbian (which was very frustrating for us lesbian fans!) now its 99% which is similar to American pornstars. Acky is part of that 1% hope she changes her mind.

Very popular is pushing it, before Bibian showed up, we haven't really had any strong les stuff for a while, Bibian is popular, but that's all that's popular, and 99% of them aren't doing strict les, they'll do vids with other girls but not strictly maybe like 50% of them do it, same in American porn where it has also had a resurgence but only like 50% do it.
