Slightly off-topic, but if there were an English wiki or wikia for JAV performers I would be a major fan and can contribute quite a lot.
IMHO Wikia would be ideal EXCEPT for their Term of Use that bans pornographic content. In general I haven't found any non-commercial or few web publishing sites that allows adult contents. Well yes I know Blogger/Blogspot allows adult contents. But blog format is poor for what I have in mind. Anyway I think Google (owner of blogger) is evil and I would not want to be a owner/contributor for a blogger blog on adult content.
Oh yes I know about http://sougouwiki.com/, but I doubt we would be welcome to contribute English contents to it or its host (http://wiki.seesaa.jp/).
And about how I would contribute: I can write scrapper (based on my scrapper for XBMC) that (1) mass-grab data from JAVZOO (which I suspect gets its data from scrapping DMM) and (2) capture daily/weekly new vids/DVDs and basically have a live-update of each performer's filmography.

Certainly it's related, but actually it fits better here than there. The database provide some data for the wiki, but the wiki should certainly be more than a JAV database. As most of us know, there are plenty of JAV release sites (including Akiba, although we are more of a community) in English. But we lack an actress-centric website where we can find and share info and updates on the actresses (and even a few of the actors, if there's interest). And I like the Wikia approach to presenting info about a genre of arts and entertainment (e.g. Wookiepedia). In addition to filmography, we should have vital stats, career details (contract/studio) and brief bio (based on availability of course). There might also be room for some user-contributed review/commentary/opinion piece in addition to hard objective data. For example, we could add info/speculation/debate on various actress's boobs being real or fake.
My fav JAV data site is javzoo.com which (I think) get most of their data from DMM. javzoo provides mainly JAV release data but it also has the most basic vital stats (face pix, measurements, birthday and importantly reliable English names) for many actresses. So if I (or someone) would only spend a couple days coding we can instantly generate wiki pages for hundreds of JAV actress with vital stats and filmograpy. The data is not, presumably, complete, but it will be a damn good start we can throw out there on day 1. Then any contributor could manually add data obtained from other source such as Wikipedia.
Actually the DMM ranking would be a reasonably attractive and usable home page for the whole wiki. Imagine if the site could run for a few years we can even track each actress's rise and fall in the monthly ranking and place that data in parallel with her filmography.
I've inspected the webpages of DMM monthly ranking, it's quite easy to mine data from them, with the caveat that DMM is annoying to access from my region (to say the least). BTW instead of going to google.jp why not just directly access these links?

- simply do it like this:
1. go to google.co.jp (=for better results)
2. search for those terms:

dmm dvd ranking monthly actress 61 80
dmm dvd ranking monthly actress 81
and chose translate
from the results of the websites - you get the actual site translated
and it's even possible to switch back-to-original

In first case it ...was Japan/DMM that doesn't want to be browsed ( or 'raided by gaijin (外人)'
),as we all did see often those last years of "xxx".
The problem (and -curiously- the main attraction) is indeed the censorship of JAV mainstream/mass releases.
This causes on the one hand more creativity (an additional plus - to the beauty of their girls/women)
- on the other hand it did prevent (the censored mass of mainstream) JAV to be a strong worldwide sales item.
But:
Otherwise things change and did change already.
At least a -proper- JAV ranking today should be splitted into
1. JAV favorite actresses and movies (downloads) from outside Japan
and
2. JAV favorite actresses and dvd/bluray/downloads by sales and number IN-Japan
(The problem for many fans outside Japan is that their taste often differs from what the Japanese customer is willing-to-pay-for -
what did push many girls favorited by fans outside Japan (Maria Ozawa, Rio Hamasaki, ...for example) out-of-business.
On the other hand those women do not like to do porn in the western porn industries,
they usually get paid better in Japan or Taiwan anyway - for just lickin' icecream in front of a camera.)
But, again:

I too live in a country from which DMM doesn't want to be browsed (my English teacher should be proud). My awkward solution is to refuse (or clear) cookies from DMM and hit ESC (stopping Firefox) as soon as the useful data has been streamed.
Anyway... failing to find an adult-friendly free web/wiki host. I am testing the waters of English Wikipedia with 2 pages created by hand:

Considering the Chinese and Japanese Wikipedia are allowing some very racy (text) contents, English Wikipedia might serve the purpose until someone (or some company) decide to create an AV idol Wiki and let me upload data.

We posted a bunch of videos and pictures from Las Vegas on the R18.com blog with Anri and Hitomi. Both girls were very nice and Hitomi is very bubbly and tiny. Though still in planning stages...next year's AVN might just blow your socks off!

I share the worries of ding73ding that JAV movies become more like U.S. porn. Maybe some people will think that JAV has to become like U.S. porn to conquer that market. But I switched to JAV because it is different. Going there would maybe intensify this trend. Maybe visiting some DMM events in Japan would give a different signal.

that DMM is a company who sells this stuff
and if new entries about actresses just refer to DMM it simply looks like advertising.
And if they think it has been done by secret (paid) contributors for a company, many pages will be history soon.
Etc. etc.
Better contribute JAV actresses first, who have done (some) MAINSTREAM releases (like trivial movies, drama movies, gravure movies and tv shows).
Better citate sources like IMDB and (at best official known) newspapers, or articles from tokyoreporter
and as many as possible not-so-commercial sources...
(weblogs/blogs are often suspected as hidden advertisements, too, of course...).
