JAV VR: News, comments about releases, recommendations, hardware

It's been a while since I last posted, but I'd like to throw in my two cents about 2024

A quick look at my library would suggest that KMP and SOD are my favorite studios, but that doesn't sound right. So instead let's look at some stats.
(data taken from javlibrary and half-assed, so please forgive some mistakes)
There were close to 1900 Scenes released in 2024, out of which by far the most released by K.M.Produce: 448 ( I counted VRKM, SAVR and BIBIVR not sure if they have any others). Behind them Soft on Demand with 234 scenes, Aqua with 153, Koala with 133. Unfinished had 107, S1 69 (nice), Moody's 61, Kawaii 52, and IPVR only 34. So to paint a more acurate picture, i counted ratios of scenes released, and those still remaining in my library, with following (not really surprising) results:

The best VR Studios of 2024:
SIVR - 70% of their releases I kept. They brought a lot of new talent into their roster, and for me it was a perfect mix of extremely cute and very busty models. Direction was not always on point, but spectacular beauty of the girls made up for it in my book.
IPVR - 64% Their releases were a bit samey, and besides Saki Sasaki no real surprises there. But as long as they have girls like Yume Nishimiya, Honoka Furukawa and Momo Sakura they will stay at the top.
MDVR - 55% Honestly i thought the percentage would be higher, Some of their girls are just not my taste i guess. But they really stepped up this year, more than quadrupling the releases, with superb direction and focus on intimacy, resulting in some of the most immersive scenes i've seen.

KMP and DSVR are both at around 25%. The ratio should honestly be lower, i just haven't gotten around to deleting many of the videos. The amount of releases means there are some hidden gems, especially with some of the outstanding independent models

On the very end we have Koala and Aqua, both with less than 2% of releases remaining in my library. Quality was terrible as always, the only saving grace is sometimes casting good models, but usually even that was not enough.

My main theory on the lack of girl-girl is that there may be a certain segment of japanese men who super dislike girl-girl stuff in sort of the way most hetero males are "grossed out" by guy-guy sex so directors or companies may not want to alienate those men from their target market. Since most of the girl-girl fans will also spend if there isn't girl-girl then it pays off for them also.

I was super looking forward to PRVR-081 also since it has two top-quality actresses and lots of kissing, but I found them too giggly and laughy, not erotic, passionate or lustful towards each other during most of their contact and that was distracting and hence I didn't enjoy it too much.

URVRSP-319 - both girls super hot, they kiss more to turn the guy on but it's great when they do.



HUNVR-118 - nice uniforms, the solo action is great but then they also kiss and group up



URVRSP-245 - The two girls aren't as well-known but are young and cute and they do the most girl-girl stuff together in a FFM VR. The hottest thing is they really seem into each other as well as the guy.

Hmm, choices really are kinda sparse. But its I would say URVRSP-245. Its one of the few good ones that are in 8k. And Minase Akari and Kisaki Nana seem to be quite comfortable with each other. Its basically a very sharp video of 2 cute lollies close up.



The other decent lesbian titles are all in much lower quality, unfortunately.

There's KAVR-209 which does not feature as much tongue-on-tongue as you might hope. This is a rather unusual title in that its purely a lesbian video and neither girl will have sex with you at any point, yet they still acknowledge your presence and will talk dirty to you.


Its also one of the few VR titles where you have a decent angle on some scissor action. Most of these titles tend to involve the dual-headed dildo which I'm not a fan of.


And that there's WAVR-201 which is one of my personal favorites. This isn't Mukai Ai and Kuruki Rei's first lez video together so they clearly are very comfortable with each other and the girl-on-girl action gets really steamy on this one. You just don't always have the best angle on things cos you spend much of the first clip peeking at them from under a table.

But they do get up close to you at one point so you get this very rare angle of tongue-on-tongue action from an almost overhead perspective. Well, not really but you get the idea...


And also a rare scene of tit-on-tit action where Ai seductively talks dirty to Rei throughout. Its a short moment but its


And finally there's DSVR-0351. This is really old, from 2018 so its video quality is shit which is a shame, cos well...look at the cover. It is that hot, Miyazaki Ai is a genuine lesbian IRL so its clear she's totally enjoying herself here. Video is very low quality, you don't always have the best angle on things but this is probably the steamiest lesbian VR clip of all.

I can't take a snapshot. Its shot using a different format (not L/R VR) that my XBVR does not know how to interpret.

Oh, can't believe I missed this one earlier.

Bibian didn't shoot a lot of titles in VR. Some of them are weird experimental ones that involve wrestling. The group ones aren't are steamy as one might hope. But BBVR-003 is everything that you would want from a VR lesbian title except its shit quality from being shot during the early days of VR.

But its 2 hours worth of Kururugi Aoi and Mitani Akari going at each other. Yup, 2 hours. 6x20 minute clips. They don't make VRs like this anymore so its a real shame that its only in 3840x1920 quality.



Tongue-on-tongue action is for noobs. Here's tongue-on-ear action.

+ Mai Arisu (more of a freelancer, but she had a release with SOD, her Unfinished VR was very good)
+ Igarashi Kiyoka (she is very good at VR, this has to happen)
+ Haruka Rukawa (crazy good at VR but again, no 8k VR yet)

In my wishlist of 2025, too...

think in almost none of the releases from 2024 something like this was includes with the exception of 3DSVR-1520 and JUVR-203

I've been asking for it for years in my reviews, in the forums, but nothing....
3DSVR-1520 has two of the most desirable actresses in JAV VR, and it's a much more immersive movie than most threesomes. And yet it has barely any reviews on Fanza, and the most upvoted is one that says “Don't buy it, it's a very weird movie...”. People punish the girls interacting with each other. To me, completely inexplicable.

I don't think we will see many more studios at A Festa. What I would like for 2025 is for KMP and Crystal's 8K titles to launch at the same time as in Fanza. Currently we have to wait months. I'm only interested in 1% of KMP's VRs and 10% of Crystal VR ones, but I'd like to buy it when it comes out, not half a year later. There are many KMP and Crystal titles in 8K that are not yet on A Festa.

About the bitrate of 8K titles on Fanza, it's hard to find a logic. The most important studios, like S1, Moodyz, Kawaii or Idea Pocket, have the worst 8K image quality of all, with bitrates between 11 and 15 Mbps. Madonna have been using a good bitrate for 2 or 3 months, between 30 and 50 Mbps. Alice Japan's latest, AJVR-253, also has a good bitrate.
My impression is that Fanza charges studios according to the bitrate of their movies, and most choose to pay the minimum bitrate. We have 8K movies that are 9GB, and then you see 4K movies that are 25GB.... On the contrary, as A Festa needs to attract non-exclusive studios because they do not produce VRs, and release far fewer titles than Fanza, they do not charge for using higher bitrate, and that is why their 8K movies have a bitrate of 80-100 Mps.
I don't think we see much improvement in this regard in 2025. On the contrary, the latest Kawai and Idea Pocket titles look worse than previous releases.

I'm a huge fan of girl-girl kissing and interaction during 3P scenes and yes it is a big source of frustration that it doesn't happen more in 3D or 2D

In the end it seems that there are more than one and more than two of us who ask for this, but we are completely ignored....
Most of the freelance actresses out there in VR has shot 2D lesbian movies. Almost every Unfinished, Kawaii, SOD VR or KMP threesome could carry lesbian interactions, if the directors or studio wanted to.

Leaving aside the 3DSVR and Bibian VR titles of a few years ago, which were light years ahead of what is done now in lesbian VR, for me the best modern title by far is URVRSP-245:








Unfortunately, a year and a half has passed, and Unfinished has not reintroduced any lesbian scenes in its movies....

Most of us like different titles and different models, but in the end the ones that end up in our collection are the ones from S1, Moodyz, and Idea Pocket. Not only do they have amazing actresses, but they have the best understanding of VR and release the most immersive movies.

What I don't understand is that dozens of lesbian films are released per month in 2D, from various studios. So a percentage of 2D movie users watch and buy lesbian movies. How many, 10%, 5%? I don't know, but what I can't understand is that when those users buy a headset in VR, don't they like lesbian anymore? Because 2,000 VRs a year are released, and 0 are full-lesbian. Where are those users? If many Japanese men don't like lesbian, that's OK. Something I don't understand, because if you like women, seeing two women interacting is quite erotic. It's no the same that man-man. But it`s OK. The problem is that in VR they add lesbian in a threesome, and those who don't like lesbian get pissed off. That's what lesbian-only movies, like Bibian's, are for.... For those who like this subject.

I'm not asking for dozens of titles a month, with just one lesbian title from Bibian VR and SOD VR a month I'd be satisfied, and I believe it would outsell some of the niche titles from SOD VR, the endless boring clones from KMP, or the mediocre titles from Aqua, PXVR, VRPRD and others. But no one takes the risk of trying.

BBVR-003 is everything that you would want from a VR lesbian title except its shit quality from being shot during the early days of VR.

One of the best lesbian VR ever. As you say it came out eons ago, and its picture quality suffers, although it looks acceptably good for being 6 years old. With a title like this one by Bibian in VR every month, I'd be satisfied....

Good to be back on the VR thread. Content with the state of my collection, having pruned and added various works during my absence. 2024 provided a plethora of great scenes and hope that 2025 will continue the trend.

Much like '24, hope either Momonogi Kana or Nao Jinguji will make an appearance this year. Suzu Honjo's contribution (3DSVR-1079) fell short for me, finding only one scene notable. Mei Washio released toward year end but was characteristically flat in performance. Glad to see the return of Ruka Inaba - EBVR-099 and EBVR-106 were fantastic.

Studio of the year for me: P-BOX VR. Thoroughly enjoying their butt/dildo blow 8K fetish content, along with KMPVR's 4K dildo blow catalogue that I purchased from Afesta - though no new releases since Q1 of 2024. Alice Japan released their own stellar version in AJVR-252. Morisawa Kana's SAVR-501 has a fantastic dildo blow scene, the dildo attached to a glass wall in front of our POV. A really neat idea I'd love to see adopted by P-BOX, or KMPVR should they return.

Will leave it at that for now. Have been paying far more attention to freelancers than exclusives as of late. Momo Sakura and Ito Mayuki remain the hardest working exclusives in this medium. Was hoping that Prestige would continue releasing with others on their roster, namely Umi Yatsugake, but hopes were dashed.

We all look forward to the return of Momonogi Kana and Nao Jinguji, hopefully it will come true. And better VRs with Suzu Honjo. I was happy with Ruka Inaba's return too, but in EBVR-106 I thought the movie was shot with a wrong IPD, Ruka looked giant. does it happen to you too?
I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's release of Momo Sakura, and hopefully Prestige will keep releasing VRs, but I see it complicated.

Experienced the same thing with that work, plus a few works released last week. Zooming out a bit helps, but not always a fix for some works

The bitrate issue with Fanza's 8K movies is depressing, and it's getting worse and worse.... If in 2024 a bitrate of 15 Mbps seemed like crap to us, in 2025 it has dropped to 10 Mbps....

Sakura Momo's new VR, IPVR-291, which is great, has a bitrate of 10 Mbps in the second scene, it barely fills 8 GB. URVRSP-404 is even worse, 10 Mbps all the movie and only 6 GB... Both have dirty image, at times they look like 4K movies. I guess that to keep people buying them, they are also lowering the bitrate of 4K movies...

Madonna had 2 or 3 months with acceptable bitrate, 30 Mbps, they were the best looking 8K movies from Fanza. In her latest release, JUVR-213, the bitrate drops to 20 Mbps in the first scene, and 15 Mbps in the second...

Fanza's 8K movies look worse than ever.... I can't understand it.

Sakura Momo's new VR, IPVR-291, which is great, has a bitrate of 10 Mbps in the second scene, it barely fills 8 GB.

At least she is mostly very close to the camera so it isn't as noticable as other low bitrate releases, but still... It's very frustrating

For me the highlight of IPVR-291 was Momos playfulness with the camera and all the kissing/licking in the first part.

On the other hand I felt that they rushed some of the sex scenes and for the cowgirl position the camera was too far away for my liking. The Pornhub-like bitrate they are using was very distracting in this part... Regardless, if IPVR-291 had around 30mbit/s it would be a great release.

By the way, so far in January, no S1 or Moodyz movies have been released, and there are none announced either.... I'm starting to get worried...

Moodyz did not release anything in Dec 2023/Jan 2024 but S1 had a couple VRs. My guess is that they take a break for 1-2 month. I would start to worry if we are not seeing anything announced from them at the beginning of February.

Welcome. It might be a niche but I think it offers a unique experience, western VR is not even close and they are not improving since 2022. Normally places like reddit cover everything no matter how obscure it is, but not JAV VR. The biggest problem might be the accessibility in the west. It's impossible to get most of the releases 100% legally outside of Japan. The western streaming services - from what I have seen - only offer 2nd grade releases that are at least a year old and they are mostly in 4k. So I believe most in the west that are into VR have no idea what they are missing out on. The JAV VR studios also suck in promoting it worldwide. I guess they make enough money on the Japanese market for now.

@Walle12 what happened to 3DSVR-1652? It's now almost a month since release. I guess they still have not fixed the completely unusable 8k release?

JAV is a niche outside of Asia - the mosaic is a hard filter in and of itself. Had I not stumbled across gravure a number of years ago, would still be using the same tired American gonzo I'd grown to detest. Whilst regular JAV is a breath of fresh air, VR JAV is perfect for me. American/European VR falls short of the standard Japan has set.

The JAV subreddit is mainly for code inquiries; less than a handful of users on the 4chan JAV thread even mention VR. This thread is genuinely a diamond. As you mentioned, streaming services are ill-suited for keeping up with VR releases (best for regular HD/FHD JAV). VR requires slightly more personal input to enjoy in the best quality. JAV is for the insular Japanese market and periphery countries it seems - I'm just glad we have the resources to access it.

JavTrailers/JavLibrary are my primary sources; debating on whether I should abandon the former, seeing as I like to be surprised on release days. Occasionally use the JAV forum to keep up with retirements, but (again) would like to stop - a habit from when I watched regular JAV. Would prefer to not keep up with actresses anymore.

5. Yoshitaka Nene

More from FALENO is always welcome. Anything from Momozono would be nice too, but Fitch's low output doesn't inspire confidence. Kasui Jun is Honnaka exclusive now, so maybe they'll give us something (their recent Mina + Riho collab was decent enough).

Haven't seen Arisu Mai in a while. The slower paced nature of VR releases makes it difficult to determine whether an actress is still around.

7. Tadai Mahiro

Would be nice to see a normal VR from her. Wish I liked Miyashita Rena as much as others online; wouldn't object to a good release. Arata Arina ceases activity at year end, so hope she gives us 1-2 more titles - enjoyed her last.

Things I would love to see in VR in 2025

1. Bibian returns to VR to shoot only-lesbian VRs (Probability: 10%)
2. SOD VR returns to shoot non-POV lesbian VR like 5 years ago with 3DSVR-0291 or 3DSVR-0315 (Probability: 1%)

The second wish should be more feasible than a studio dedicated to lesbian content, personal feelings aside. I wonder if such negative sentiment toward lesbian content, as you showed above with 3DSVR-1520, contributes to studios seeming apprehensive to release more content of that nature.
