Lack of Requests = Healthy JAV Community?

Honestly I feel pretty bad about asking for stuff in the request section. The first time I think I requested like 4 impossible to find titles and Casshern2 fulfilled all of them. At first it was pretty great to get a bunch of unreleased titles especially since they all turned out to be amazing! But now I don't request anymore because I feel bad leaching off him haha. Yea sounds pretty dumb I guess... I'll torrent terabytes upon terabytes of JAV but when it comes to leeching off a fellow member I feel bad lol.

I think Casshern was the one that uploaded a good quality, non-watermarked DJE-054 after I lamented about the lack of such here. It wasn't a formal request but still. That's one of my favourite videos. I have uploaded 30.81GB of his version on eMule and the crappy watermarked version is pretty much dead there now.

needs more loli

I saw that articles many days ago. It's interesting, but pretty skeptical of such over-simplified fix-all ideas. DMM already provide a reputable (if not necessary well loved) platform for online video distribution. And from what I read here on Akiba, DMM's DRM is still unbreakable, so that pretty much stamp out any (easy) piracy scheme off that route. But the article itself states that "Japan is still a country that’s very into physical media." That means any (major) studio abandoning DVD will hurt more from lost sales (customers who can't or won't get streaming/download from DMM) then from enhanced protection from piracy.

Moving the DVD pressing back to Japan is a similar question, on paper it sounds good, until a major player try it out, who knows how effective it would be. Let's just imagine, randomly say Moodyz move the pressing to Japan and see how it fares against S1, which stays put. Would then Moodyz vids really disappear from the torrent search engines and download sites? Or even delayed by some number of days? Would that impediment to piracy translated to increased sales? By how much? All these questions lacks definite answers. Except for this: it is definite that Moodyz will lose millions of yens in costs. Let's say each disc costs low-ball 200 Yens more, that's probably ... a million yens a month? Ten million yens a month? Let's say an average DVD gross 3000 Yens, 200 Yens extra costs means it comes back with a 7% increase in sales. Well I'm very skeptical that keeping DVD pressing out of Korea and Taiwan will really bump total sales by 7%.

yes, good point, we still don't know how effective it would be, but I think if they seriously want war against piracy, they need to change

and the option is not only move their DVD pressing factory, developing anti piracy technology could be another option

example Playstation, in their 1st and 2nd generation their disc and machine is very easy to copy and make modification, so the sale of illegal copies was very high, but in the 3rd generation its much much more difficult to crack their protection system, so the sale of legal copies was increased significantly, the sale of used / 2nd hand copies also increase, something I never seen in 1st and 2nd generation era

More on topic (don’t get me wrong, guys, this is a discussion, so you can add anything you’d like to it. The more the better!) I thought another reason the requests have gone down is because much of them go unanswered. Unless there were members who would PM answered requests instead of replying to the request proper, there are so many requests that (used to) get pushed down the thread list by other requests until they were out of sight and eventually out of mind. Especially by those who would post more than a handful of requests at the same time. True, I’ve been known to tell requesters they should have a separate request for each title they want instead of just making one request for “all titles” of a performer. But, that’s the rule, isn’t it? So, eventually things get to page 2…page 3, and are forgotten.

yes, and maybe people realize what kind of request that have big chance and which is not, my own experience after Mr Jugulear respon to my request, he told me that not easy to get old JAV older than 2007, and based on my experience too I became more understand, if I want to request videos that I know its not easy to get, I don't made a request in the forum, I'll try to ask it directly to some peoples who I know they collectiong oldies videos or spesific genres

I don't think non-Japanese sharing JAV has much effect on the JAV industry considering R18 provides no English subtitles, no English descriptions, no user reviews or ratings like DMM. We are an afterthought, JAV is not made for anyone outside of Japan anyways. And people in Japan probably prefer to have DVD or Bluray, so it makes no difference.

I know still few non japanese people who want to buy censsored porn, with language that they can't understand, but still piracy is hurting the studios & industry, its killing their international market, you must know they still got potential customers from outside japan that the number are decreased because piracy

one of them is me, if not easy to get free videos, I might spend more money to pay for legal download, but I can get it for free why I should pay -> this is the bad effect from piracy, poisoning people mindset

and it doesn't mean people outside japan are free and not guilty for sharing and collecting pirated JAV contents

It's just not my habit to make request, there are titles in my want list, and there are many titles I'm still interested to get a watermark less (or at least less watermark) version. But it's just not in me to make requests, I guess I assumed it's futile. it's actually news to me that someone, @Casshern2 has been filling request.

I requested two things a long time ago. MVSD-171: Complete Episode Face-Fuck Dripping Wet Lesbian Starring Tsubomi & Rei Mizuna. That had to a couple years ago. I think that was around the time I had a revelation that JAV was the best stuff in the world and I began downloading it like a maniac. I still have around 3.5 TB of it saved on a 4 TB external hard drive while also being backed up on another 4 TB HD just like it.

I started browsing sites like DMM and being amazed at just how much JAV there was out there. I was drawn to certain odd fetish movies that were not as popular as the mainstream stuff that usually gets uploaded. It drove me nuts just sitting waiting for someone to be kind of enough to rip something I like for me. I also realized many of these movies will probably never be uploaded to a torrent. I came back to my MVSD-171 request thread months later and realized why don't I try buying this stuff. So MVSD-171 was officially the first JAV I ever purchased. Then once I started making a little more money I said fuck it I'm not going to wait around for an epic JAV movie again!

As I became more enthralled in the wonderful world of JAV the more I developed this irrational fear thinking about what if these companies stopped producing the kind of movies I like? So for almost two years now I have bought all the jav I consume on a regular basis. I can't be bothered waiting for a title to be ripped. Plus the terrible watermarks. After watching good quality like HD it's hard to watch anything below Standard Definition. That low quality stuff is just unwatchable to me now. Also, I feel good about buying it too because I know it's helping the producers and actresses.
