But how did he get caught?
How did the authorities know he had them
In Europe almost every isp collects the metadata of every connection because they are required to do that by law
But nobody gets arrested because of the metadata because they first need a courtorder
and you can't get a courtorder without a valid reason (proof)

Maybe its differnt in canada

If you know how somebody is caught you can use that information to make sure you yourself don't get caught

so what
If they are watching me they don,t have a courtorder to do so and all the evidence will not be accepted in court.
Because how will they obtain the courtorder
They need proof

proof=
they know who i am and what i have done

ps
Shouting is a little bit rude

Canada strip searches you and your kids by default when you try to enter the country. This might be a "slight" overstatement but not by much. Once you are in Canada it is not that terribly bad but going into Canada they seem to assume you are a criminal, smuggler, drug runner or terrorist. I actually think it was easier to go from East to West Germany than to cross the Canadian border....maybe if they had more visitors or something....I don't know, anyway they are very intrusive and search through everything with a fine tooth comb.

Also, laws are different in Canada. They don't need a court order to do things like in the US, they are more like the UK that way (though better in many other ways). Canada is like a mix of the best of the US and the worst of the UK (or vice a versa depending on your point of view).

From the very beginning, the technique you should use to not get cause is "common sense."

It has always been and always will be.

I asked about legality, not common sense. All you know how to do is shout your own opinion as loud as you can. When I asked you to support your argument with
evidence, you were unable to. So let's stop pretending you actually know what you are talking about, shall we?

Little Chucky asked a relevant question about how the guy got caught. Because how you get caught is implicit in the legality of the issue. From this very example, we now
know that Canada's laws differ quite a lot from those of the US, and of those in Europe. That makes it a relevant thing to ask. Your scorn is unwarranted and unnecessary.

Furthermore, if Europe gathers metadata from ISP's legally then you will pretty much get fucked as well.

The difference with the USA and Canada is, in Europe everybody is protected by the law

Do you really think every prosecutor simply can go to a judge and ask for a courtorder to get the metadata?
he has to have proof obtained from another legal scource

Just a heads-up... a guy a couple years older than I, who I actually went to school with for several years, was caught with male U15 videos. Went to jail for a year in Canada, is now classified as an offender and is no longer allowed to access a computer for anything other than mandatory work.

Just sayin....

You never actually said how the guy got caught. Did the ISP report illegal internet traffic to the police? Then they searched his computer and found U15 stuff? Or was he accessing this material from work or what?
