Megaupload Shut Down - Filesonic stops filesharing - latest news about filehosting

i have simple question will gov go after photo sharing sites now too. since most people will take pic of something and re post under a photo sharing site since we want people to see what we are talking about or show people what video or movie is. looks like photo sharing will be next since people take photo from mag or online from site where not allow to use with out there permission.

Hey. Just lettting you know that the location of Megaupload was and remains largely unknown, at least to the public. Only one set of servers were rented in the US, bringing the site under US jurisdiction. Heard it on the radio.

As a followpu query, are there any filehosters worth subscribing to anymore? I see that Oron is still around seems to have a fair bit of content. If you look at the option for languages in the top right corner, there is no US flag there. Does anyone know if they servers in the US?

so..for americans:
are u pround with so many "great things" ur goverment done so far?
messing another countries, playing master of puppets..and now this one?

LOL Let's pretend we're not doing anything wrong and just bash America...that's original!

Okay, just to get this straight...

In order to avoid the wrath of the AmeriKKKan empire, you'd have to:

1. Base your company in another country
2. Locate your servers in another country
3. BLOCK all American I.P.s so US citizens cannot be "victim" of those corrupt pirates, thus rendering the AmeriKKKan empire unable to prosecute them for the lack of legal ground.

Righto?

inb4 China starts to flood the file hosting market... :secret:

That is exactly what megaupload did. The "company" is based in Hong Kong. The severs are located outside of the city, and they blocked all users from Hong Kong any access to their site.

What Kimdotcom should have done is to locate all his assets to a country that doesn't have diplomatic or extradition laws with the US.

I think this is for the best. As convenient as it was to get shit through MU and FS etc things were just getting out of hand. I won't be surprised if BT sites get shut down in the near future. Everyone should make peace with the fact it's going to be darknet or bust.

with this kind of economy, they think many people will actually pay for buying a real material. That's kind of bull :pandalaugh:

It has nothing to do with SOPA, file sharing services have been getting away on a technicality that sits on razor-thin ice. They hide behind a DMCA technicality that states they're unaware and not responsible for what a user-end uploads to their services.

To law makers, copyright holders and law enforcement it's a slap in the face to their intelligence. It's as clear as day they profit off copyrighted works, 99.99% of everything downloaded of these sites is copyrighted.

They got away with it for awhile, but they will all crash like dominoes. It's back to torrents and P2P, having copyrighted material reside to directly download in accordance with the law is a thing of the past.

i guess is back to the day of buying porno dvd in some dark shop in some unknown alley again. :exhausted:

Seems that it's the begining of the end. 2012 starts really badly for us, internet users.

The problem with MU closure is the way they were attacked by the US gouvernment. They did it only to give a message!
MU is the 1st downloading site of the world with million of users per day. They did not look too far. They chose easily the best one and they make them a kind of scapegoat just to encourage the others stop the file sharing.
Now, hosts like Fileserve and Filesonic which closed their sites are not exemples to follow. Instead of protesting and fight against this injustice, they just prefered to save their head and shitt°°° in their pants like cowards -_-

The least they could do is warning users in advance about the closure but they didn't!!
Even worse!!! they scammed uploaders by removing their affiliate program before paying their debts and Fileserve really screws people deleting uploaders accounts but not the files they shared. This practice only shows how they are cowards looking only for money like vultures (money thanks to uploaders who did all the work) -_-
Thanks to US gouvernment and thanks to file hosts :vomit:

The only group which have my respect is Wupload's one. They warned all users about the closure approximatelly a month in advance and they payed up to the last panny their affiliate. Brave willy!!
You have my respect.

....and how would i (and all my friend instead) buy 'em if i DIDN'T know about anime b'cozz i -pretty- MUST buy the original DVD ... in same time, filesharing didn't exist anymore eh?

:joker:

ooh i remember me in 90s decade :exhausted:

yeeaa ya know, their collections make me boring! only normal sexual intercourse without any fetish like massage, peeping, gyno, bathing, naked in public etc... internet via filesharing give me all of 'em

:tea:

I guess its not fair to make us pay for music or movies! even more on an over inflated price. In Malaysia, one original music album CD costs USD 15 to 35, depending on the popularity of artiste, while you pirated for less than USD 5 or download it for free. and for that, the averrage malaysian only earns USD 2 per hour on part time basis!

The news of file hosters being taken down is spreading like wildfire. My only solace is to cling to my almost-a-terabyte-full hard drive and pray this thing dies down with some file hostings sites still intact.

Fileserve now just like filesonic, (can only be used to download files you've personally uploaded).

I have it on good authority hotfile is next by week's end.

Seems Fileserve has just gone the way of Filesonic: Only uploaders can retrieve their files, at least via access from USA IP's. I'd certainly be wary of signing up for any premium services (already bit by being a Megaupload premium member) before things settle down.

fuck americans... oh wait, i mean their government.

FUCKING THANK GOD THAT I DID NOT UPGRADE AT FILESONIC... XD

sadly i lost $20 in my fileserve account. :(

really fuck US government.

As has been said, FileServe is completely dead.

FileJungle stopped affiliate (no more "Make Money" section)

I just cancelled my filesonic premium account. I suppose torrents are the best bet these days...
