Megaupload Shut Down - Filesonic stops filesharing - latest news about filehosting

I think the safest way would be like piratebay, no registration necessary, no logs just a plain website to upload .torrent/magnet link with description and place for comments.

indeed, but torrents die so fast it's not even funny
a private (or semi-private) tracker would be better

i don't think security would be a big problem if things would be done correctly (there are still soooo many safe countries where to host)

AND we shouldn't forget that we're still dealing with japanese porn, not hollywood movies, MP3 or warez: after the whole cyberlocker business have fallen, i'm expecting the death of 99% all the jav blogs floating around; that will mean A LOT less exposure, and a bit more "safety" (not exactly, but you got the point)

maybe these are just stupid thoughts, but i don't know... it's an idea i always had in my mind but i never had the balls -nor the skills- to work on

EDIT @elgringo: actually it was, but people weren't interested enough to report about it

i totally understand wanting to stop infringes on copyrighted material. but, i still don't think that bill was the correct directional step. thankfully it failed. but its still not over... not by a cannon shot.

i hate the U.S.A, and can't wait to arrive at japan!... for a permanent stay... ok, maybe not at the first visit but soon after :cheer:. i just need to find a Japanese woman to make my wife then i can stay there forever. I'M gonna also need to invest in a particular skill i might have, so it can be used while i'm in japan.

sorry to all our up-loaders who lost their hard work.

All that the U.S. government has to do is to arrest a few ordinary citizens who download a lot from newsgroups or file hosts and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the EXISTING law in a VERY PUBLIC WAY--technically, life in prison is possible for downloads which have nothing to do with porn of any kind, like episodes of popular TV shows. The shock would be felt around the world. I, for one, have spent tens of thousands of dollars over the years on DVD purchases, website subscriptions, Netflix, cable, all of which bring profit to the people who support SOPA. If this persecution does not stop, I will simply watch the movies I already have and the entertainment industry will never make a PENNY from me again. I will buy only USED DVD's, from which the big corporations do not make any profit at all. The problem with access to JAV for people who do not live in Japan, even through legal purchases, will be a big one. But I am old, and Rei Mizuna may stop my ticker one day soon anyway.

Torrents Anyone?

Ok, I am going to stop whining about my premium memberships being lost because I just realized many others have lost a lot more money than I have. And if you really think about it? I got a lot for my money already.

All things considered, I really think it is time to start thinking (at least semi) long term here: Some kind of Torrent incentive program on Akiba (that encourages long term seeding - naturally), anything to build torrents back up. Currently in the torrent department - it seems Akiba is severely lacking new content for many genres, obviously because direct downloading was so addicting. Moreover, seeding is often the easiest way for many of us to contribute anyway, and like some other sites i frequent, maybe we should start cutting those who can't keep up a reasonable share ratio.

Isn't the idea of sharing more prominent with torrents as it is? after all, no one is profiting from it, (just saving) and everyone is encouraged to share equally. Please, comment if you disagree, or scold me if I need correcting.

Crocko: No affilliate program. No "Make Money" tab. "crocko.com/make_money.html" just takes you to the premium page.

FilePost: No affiliate program. The earn money tab is missing and "filepost.com/makemoney" just goes back to the homepage.

We may be upset about the file services closing down-loads but they may be doing subscribers and members a small favor by getting rid of membership records of current members before they get hit... Just think of the list of names and download content list they were able to obtain by confiscating MU servers... Glad I wasn't a current MU paid subscriber or affiliate...

If all of the major remaining filehosts go down (Hotfile, Wupload and Rapidshare), then it's bye bye for downloading JAV... I'm sure as hell not going to download from filepost etc. and I refuse to use torrents (too risky). It's been a good couple of years, but f*ck it!

We'll just have to go back to the roots of pirating stuff and make ftp's, fserves, irc bots and use usenet.

Or someone will implement the next things and we'll all move to that.

What about eMule using the Kad network? Or maybe something like Freenet? :study:

emule is too young to be in what I consider the roots of pirating and has been around too long to be the next thing. It is a good alternative though since I got a couple of my movies from there, but it can be hard to find something precise since you can't use a - in the search engine(as far as I know) which make it hard to search using a dvd code.

But yeah, something like freenet would be the most likely candidate for something more secure and harder to shut down.
