I ended up adding an [HQ] thread prefix, which you can be set when you create a thread or edit one. It's nice because it doesn't require typing and can be clicked on to show all other [HQ] threads, like this: http://www.akiba-online.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=149&prefixid=meguIV&order=desc&page=10

I think anything that was encoded with meguIV or somehow deinterlaced with TempGaussMC falls into the "HQ" category.

Added all of Guy's encoder tags as a new group of smilies, for ease of use.

How much smaller are the files produced now?

If it is 30/50 percent faster, I might try re-doing some old rips -there's not much new available, anyway- as the filesizes being too big are a usual complaint... or what would happen if one of the old already de-interlaced rips gets re-encoded with the new settings?

:puzzled:

On the clips I compared, filesize savings were about 25%. Your mileage may vary.

You can't deinterlace already-deinterlaced files, but you can always reencode the DVD source if you still have it.

Oops, I accidentally uploaded an older test version with ugly presets. Please redownload v1.0.0.0.

If you're talking about the 10+GB files, those are temporary.

I did a test run with a 500 MB DVD file with Moe Kirimura gravyslime provided

old rip here

When using the the ''one click'' option, it gave me a nearly 700 MB file, using a .avs file and messing with the the settings, I got 255 mb vs the 277 mb mkv file of the old rip.

I'll try with the new settings during the weekend to see how it goes.:study:

Your 13m DVD clip is coming out to 700MB? You're doing something wrong. Are you working from the DVD VOBs, or something already encoded? Is the source available for download?

My last encodes have been:
1h06m -> 795 MB
0h53m -> 807 MB
0h54m -> 776 MB
0h44m -> 486 MB
0h50m -> 1.13 GB
0h54m -> 762 MB
1h05m -> 800 MB

I'm using vobs from a ChuBoh DVD which gravyslime clipped for me using SmartRipper so that only Moe's files were on it, the vobs are about 550mb, when using the ''one click'' option I got 6GB at first, then going down and down until it settled a 600+mb and got stuck at 100 percent without doing anything else for about half an hour before I cancel it. It was with the 1.00 version which turned out to be not the right one though.

I checked the avs file created, and it was pointing to the dbgeng.dll in my megu installation, :puzzled:

I'll check with the right file since I don't think it should be using the installed megu files. But I use a different PC for the encodings and it is busy atm

Does mencoder always crash at the same point, or is it random?

I was wondering if you updated nnedi2, RemoveGrainSSE3 and RepairSSE3 to know if I have to get some new SSE1 compatible versions.

Using the old ones, I had no problem encoding a 6min14sec preview. It took 4h20mins which I think is about the same as v.05, but the file size was 15% smaller.

I may not be the average user of this, but version 1.0.1.1 works fine for me.
