Plot / Synopsis
A sad story about the mother who had to marry the 3rd time to get money for treatment of her son.
This rarely screened film brings together several of Shindo’s favored elements in its setting (Hiroshima), theme (the after-effects of the Bomb), and leading actress (Nobuko Otowa). Otowa plays an A-bomb survivor whose decision to have a child hinges on her ability to overcome the traumas of the past. Haruko Sugimura, the superb actress best known for her performances in numerous Ozu films (LATE SPRING, TOKYO STORY, etc.), also appears in the film.
