Only jpegs allowed in picture albums?

I'm also unable to insert album pictures into forum posts with the 'img' tag.
I have this thread where I place pictures I wish to insert into my forum posts using the 'img' tag. I am attempting to put these images into a more private location (private picture album) so that the mods (and anyone else) aren't annoyed by seeing a thread which means nothing to anyone in the world except me.

Editor syntax I use in many of my posts ...

Without this syntax, pictures can only be added to a post inside an 'attached images' box, which appears only at the end of a post.
