This is my house, it is directly on a lake. It has a traditional tea room as well as the main house.

I am posting some photos of a trip to Hiroshima I made almost two years ago. I would recommend if you go to Japan to visit this memorial, i have rarely been as moved in my life as being in this place.



As requested some different angles of the A Bomb Dome, this building was about 200 yards from the aiming point of the bomb.

These photographs are of the monument to the dead in Hiroshimas bombing. It is formed by an arch in the foreground, and eternal flame in the middle ground and the dome in the background. The names of all the dead are inscribed in a book under the dome, and if I remember correctly the book is opened every anniversary of the bombing and a prayer is made.

A watch stopped at the time of the bomb detonation, one year after buildings were starting to reappear, and the city as it is today.

Oh man that looks amazing. From the present photo I cannot imagine that such a horrific event took place at the same place. But the time is frozen for the watch and its owner (maybe) all right... Thank you for your upload.

Ah wait what is that Unknown Flying Object in the sky?

Here is another photo of the Skyline today, with that anomaly in the sky. I would like to be able to say, that forever there is something in the sky. However all i can say on that day there was a small gap in the clouds.

A statue of Sadako, and the cranes that are still being folded today.

There is a belief in Japan that if you fold one thousand origami cranes, any wish will be granted. There was a young girl named Sadako Sasaki, she lived about 1 mile from the centre of the explosion. As she became older she developed leukemia. To cut a long story short, with the encouragement of school friends she dedcided to make 1,000 cranes. She passed away in 1956 before she could complete all 1,000 and her friends at school completed the total amount for her. To this day people and organisations still fold 1,000 cranes for Sadako and you can hang them in one of seven different cabinets. Each day one is cleared and opened. It seems they are never empty for very long.

The first two photographs are from inside the peace park museum, first a shadow on some steps, caused by a human protecting the bleaching effect of the initial explosion. A wall damaged by flying glass. finally outside a peace bell with a golden crane built in, behind are the areas where the cranes that people fold are stored each day, with my wife ringing the bell.

The first photo is from a plane a few weeks ago, second is the sunrise from the summit of Mt Fuji in 2007, the others are to show what Mt Fuji looks like up close. These were taken on the way down.
