I have a 3080 with 10GB of VRAM. it's faster as in less work (i can just point it at a folder a leave). I also like that its all being handled locally instead of uploading stuff. I used your guide to learn everything but just tweaked the Collab script to function in python. It takes me about 20-30 minutes per 2hour movie with medium models. Closer to a full 2 hours for each movie with large models. In Linux I didn't have enough VRAM to complete a large model, but same docker run in windows it works. Since large model+3080 IS working for me on windows now I kinda restarted everything. (I had 200+ movies srt's completed on medium, its going to take WAY longer to get that much completed on large).
I'm using the same parameters from theydontwantto's guide. Vad_threshold 0.4,chuck threshold 1.1, max attempts 3. I haven't really played around with changing these, I'm pretty amazed by the results of whisper altogether.

All the actual cool stuff was written by "ANonEntity", I just got it to run local on a large batch.
Make sure you run this on unimportant test data first, since its a recursive search. I can't imagine a situation it would delete stuff, but can't be too careful.

2 hours for large model is almost same with google colab. 3080 is expensive. I think I will stay with google rather than buying a GPU.
Agreed. There's also the power bill of running this on your own GPU, and I can't use the GPU for anything else while its running. There's alot of reasons why google colab is better. Also the 10GB for vram on 3080 is just BARELY enough for large (and only it specific scenarios). If you really want to get a GPU dedicated for this it really should be something with 16GB of VRAM.

As a side note, I downloaded TUE-139 which was just released and I was shocked to see Ayumi Shinoda in the third segment. I hope she un-retired; although, it may just be a clip from an older movie, although I don't recall seeing it Anyway, it kind of made my day! I was wondering if anyone out there has an opinion. My apologies for it not being a subtitle topic, but I considering subbing it, or at least her segment.
