Give or take porn is illegal in vietnam, but the ryushare service isnt exclusive to porn. So it makes no sense to go at it. :cry5:

Vietnam do not accept porn so that's reason ryushare gone :slam::throw::hypno:

JAV or porn is illegal in Vietnam?? I don't understand that, that must really suck there. Really restrictive.......I am so glad I don't live there.

[OFFTOPIC]
Maybe otherwise we would have been able to see some nice movies starring Elly Tran Ha. :hot:

1) its a communist country so the government have no restriction to what they can and will do

2) It is likely they got pressured by outside forces to bring Ryushare down (likely government officials were bribed) and the easy way to do it is porn.

If only the Ryushare owners operated their site outside Vietnam, this kind of arrest won't happen.

I'd say this is the strongest proof yet that Ryushare is gone for good. still, it's confusing why their site has had different messages posted during the past week, including one explicitly saying they'd be back next week. I'm also confused about the fact that it took this long for the owners to get arrested considering how long Ryushare has been around, having distributed porn since pretty much the very beginning. I suspect they didn't bribe the police enough or the government just got too much pressure from other outside groups to put a stop to things.

as far as the argument to have Akiba force a single file hosting site goes, I'm of the opinion that forcing people to go to a single source is not a good idea. it causes a "putting all your eggs in one basket" scenario, with the very consequences we're seeing now as a possible result. I can understand the rationale behind the decision, and the fact that people can still provide additional file sources aside from the one required, but in practice we now see what can happen and it's not good.

sadly the nature of sharing what is mostly pirated content is that any successful provider instantly becomes a target for government agencies to crack down on them. and in that scenario the best thing you can and should do is to diversify your resources. obviously this is easier said than done, and it's difficulty is the reason why Akiba chose to encourage a single provider in the first place. but if we continue to put all our eggs in one basket we're gonna see this same catastrophe once again.

The article posted by Idolfun says, "The site grew steeply in the latter half of 2012, peaking near the Alexa 500 at the turn of 2013." Akiba was affiliated with Ryushare for a year and a half. Think about it.

Akiba has 67,000 active members and many of them purchase premium accounts. I think Ryushare grew too much and too fast when it connected with Akiba. Then Ryushare became a target and eventually the big anti-piracy industry found a way to shut Ryushare down by using Viet Nam law. That seems obvious to me now. It makes me think a single host can never work here for long. Akiba is too big for that and the single host will always eventually become a target. I think I agree with comments by cutebunny.

Ok, It's time to move on...Akiba needs a new hoster partnership , and we need a new main dl hoster for ours posts...
Akiba Administration needs to decide what new hoster is willing to do it and help with the bills on Akiba servers...
all other members before you complain why a main hoster? should back off...this is mind people talking
if you dont understand it, dont get in the game, and do this: build your own website, pay your own server, get a preferred dl hoster for yourself and move on
with your lives, we dont need whiners in Akiba-online.com, If Akiba dont partnership... it will be soon gone too ( if you dont want your eggs in one basket, then build your own store)
dont be replying me on anger for something I said, I will ignore you XD

http://tuoitrenews.vn/society/19002/vietnam-busts-ring-running-porn-website-for-6mn-profit

"According to the statistics of the investigation agency, Ryushare.com had over 800,000 members, including 80,000 VIP ones..."

"According to the case file, through a tip-off, local anti-social crime police in mid-2013 began to follow the activities of Hieu, a man from the province’s Phu Vang District, who had no stable job but suddenly became rich."

Wow...they started in March 2012 and by mid 2013 they were already under investigation.

Was Ryushare the only hoster to actually "partner" with Akiba? I remember some time back there used to be banners for Bitshare. Were they an actual partner that helped with the bills? Or were they just paying simple ad space? Just curious.

My take on it is that the Ryushare deal was not only unique but undesirable....it was at the time a neccessity in order to pay the substantial upkeep of the new server and keep this board afloat. All that and more is covered in the original Ryushare thread. I have no idea whether or not that type of deal will be sought after again as this is a different server and I have no idea as to what the owners present thoughts on this subject are....he is apparently still paying the bills but chompy hasn't made a post here in sometime and his silence has reached the ominous stage, IMO.
