You mistook her for another actress for a couple of photos there! To be precise, on the second and third photo that's not Ian Hanasaki but Sally (her co-star in HAR-025). I guess you knew that something was up when you wrote that she looks "different" on those photos, but yeah... she's definitely different, not just "different". See the difference? (Okay, I'm bad at this, I don't know how you make it work! )

And now, I'll post a girl who (I think) looks like your regular Japanese beauty - at least ever since I have seen her, she is the girl whom I see in front of me whenever I imagine a crowd of Japanese girls. Should others agree with me, perhaps she could be a good candidate to compare other girls to? Or should I have mentioned Tsubomi if I wanted to establish a "standard" ? (I don't know the right word...). Anyway, her name is Masami Ichikawa.

Let me take this opportunity to once again thank Kharo88 for having pointed out my error, which I have corrected in my prior post. I enjoyed his spot-on take about what this thread is about... The example he referred to, Masami Ichikawa, is absolutely beautiful. Quite stunning, in fact. And yet, even though Kharo88 was so taken by her looks that he could no longer be sure (happens to me all of the time) about how Masami would rate, objectively speaking, I would not classify Masami Ichikawa as a Crowd-Stander-Outer.

I loved his term, "average Japanese girl," which is what we are trying to contrast against here... although more correctly what we are talking about is the "average beautiful Japanese girl." (I loved the way Kharo88 was challenged to find a good word, and he wound up with the "Standard"... of which Tsubomi is a terrific example). Yet it is a very difficult and even dangerous thing to try and make these determinations, because every woman is special. I have re-thought what I wrote in my post above last:

I loved his term, "average Japanese girl," which is what we are trying to contrast against here... although more correctly what we are talking about is the "average beautiful Japanese girl."

I remembered several actresses featured on this thread who are so different looking that they Stand Out... but may be anything but beautiful. What I was getting at applied mainly to the (often younger) actresses who are not always easily distinguishable from one another, yet all of these actresses look great ("beautiful," so to speak), and not "average."


One of our smarter members, Periph, pointed out an actress, commenting:

Since the face is the immediate criterion that determines whether a woman is removed from the flock (okay, once in a while a terribly eye-catching butt or a chest can do the trick, too), I had to check her out. That's what this thread is going to focus in on with your help, but with one stipulation: PICTURES.

If you have been following the "Discussion" board lately, you may have noticed Gentleman Codegeek's efforts to get you guys to include pictures on the relevant threads. (He is trying to get the ball rolling by having begun a "JAV idol gallery" group which I hope you will look into.)

There is a popular thread here on Discussion entitled "Favourite 'Mature' JAV Performer (looks and performance)" that has been kicking around for over three years. Last year, I tried to help it along in another direction, emphasizing that members ought not simply put up names, but pictures, and a description as to why their favorite ladies are so special. I tried to set an example with my post for Chiaki Takeshita, and especially with my post for Saeko Higuchi. But I see the thread has gone back to the simple listing of names.

People just don't want to do the work, obviously, but what's the big deal?

There are plenty of picture snapping tools out there. Windows has its own little "Snipping Tool," many video players have them built in, and the one I happen to use is MWSnap. You just go to the section of the photograph you'd like to crop out, or to the appropriate frame of a video, and... why, it's a snap!

When you get your picture, embed them in your posts by uploading the picture (via "Manage Attachments"), then right-click on the link to copy, and then paste the link into the message box, in between

. That's it, f'gawdssakes, don't make such a big deal about it.

So let's get to the crux of the matter. The Ladies of JAV who stand out in a crowd.

I don't get a kick out of the women who look like one another. I like the ones who offer pizaazz. This could apply to a spectacular-looking body, but what draws our attention first (as far as the "special look") is the face.

Invariably, it is the mature actress who more frequently succeeds with the special look, because they have had time to develop character. Naturally, younger ones can look different and amazing, as well.

So why don't we highlight the special ones here, emphasizing PICTURES? It would be helpful if you'd like to add more information about the lady that may embellish why she is so special, aside from her great appearance. (For example, the way she emotes.)

And, you know, one picture doesn't always do the trick. A photo by itself can be misleading, and not always representative of someone's true appearance. Let's go for different angles, and different emotions (when possible), away from the perfection of studio set-up stills. (We like 'em with their hair down, too.)

I'm putting this thread up on an impulse, because I just got through doing some research on a mystery actress partly named "Izumi" .. and I was quick-checking the pictures of the Izumis listed on Asian Screens. Two made me stop, and I thought, Whozzat?

Ami has been in the business for only a year. Mind you, as mentioned, she does not look all that great in everything... but then there could be that one brief moment which is magical, and that moment in the trailer for SHE-278 did it for me.


Now this next woman is from the younger generation, and here is what happened. I was doing a little JAV research, and came across a new series that reminded me of one of my favorite series, HOT ENTERTAINMENT's "Shyness in Front of Actual Friends," and its short-lived successor, "Shyness in Front of a True Friend." Yet what is more interesting is that if Shiho Orihara looks so noticeably different from many other attractive JAV actresses, in that special Standing Out in a Crowd way, wouldn't you think she would have been sought after? We can only guess at the career trajectory of actresses, why some go here and others there, but on the surface, it may not be far-fetched to assume Shiho had trouble finding roles in regular JAVs and created a semi-niche for herself as the Go-To lady for interracial sex. While I was checking the output of Ayako Inoue in order to confirm, I ran into this cover, for SDNM-054 ("Super Sumptuous Harem Orgies Club - Dream-like Performance") :



I was hit by a few of those faces, and when I went about trying to figure out who they were (you'd think the provided Japanese lettering for their names would have made the job a cinch, but that would have been only if they were readable), I similarly became aware that the two who had hit me had already been featured on this thread as well; they were (with links pointing to their appearances):

#1. Nozomi Tanihara

#4. Ayaka Muto

(Ayako Inoue is at the end of the line, as #5.)

What threw me for a loop was that these three ladies, whose appearances are greatly to my liking, have certain similarities to my eye... and I just found it so interesting that of the billions of JAV actresses who could have been selected for this particular movie, the three of them were chosen.

It's as though the casting director was on my wavelength, or something.

(I'll tell you, if I were in the habit of downloading movies just for the actresses, this would be a great movie for me to seek out and download!)

For the record, #2 is Yumi Anno, and #3 is Sana Mizuhara (A.K.A. Risa Nishino, Sanae Uehara)... both of whom are no slouches, and are pretty delightful in their own right.

I like Yuria Ashina very much myself! I see I have referred to her plenty of times, via a search on Discussion; for example, in regard to her appearances with the Yakuza. Another time was with this mention and photo of her, from Teacher Molested By Lesbians [BBAN-040]:



I can easily make her out from the above, because she is so beautiful, and the others are attractive or average; I'm wondering how much she would Stand Out in a Crowd, however, were she to pose with other beauties close to her league.

One of our great puzzle-solvers from another era, Outdoorlife, pinned her down... and on this other I.D. thread, I see he had added: "She has distinctive nipple/areolas."

I had noticed that, myself. I see Member Siemo89 opined, in response: "Yes, Japanese woman with big areolas are more erotic and sensual."

I don't know if that's true of Japanese women in general, but I know it applies to Nao Kato. And the reason it applies has little to do with her distinctive nipples and areolas.
