Yes, you should.
Just the requirement of using your real name on it should give you the privacy shivers.
I am not on facebook. You could not force me or entice me to sign up for facebook. :p

Facebook think they influence the world's population by deciding what is and isn't allowed. This should trouble anyone with an ounce of a brain. At the end of the day it's just a website. If the internet goes offline for whatever reason, its business disappears into the ether. Remember the days when private companies were just that, a private company? Now these companies (Facebook, Google etc) permeate every facet of our lives - and pretty soon they'll be driving our cars and operating our home appliances too, listening to every conversation and recording every single moment of your life. I'd rather have no friends than give up that kind of private data to a company that has the ability to destroy your entire life by simply accusing you of wrong think.

In the early days of internet socializing (forums and chat groups etc), it was pretty much a taboo to ever give out your real name online - much less a photo of yourself . This rapidly changed with the onset of modern social media and the smartphone generation. I'm sure it all seemed so innocent at first, afterall, what harm can it do? You have nothing to hide, right?

Think again.

As it says: "If You're Not Paying for It; You're the Product ", think twice ;)

The FB addicts can always look for alternatives

https://www.1and1.com/digitalguide/online-marketing/social-media/the-best-facebook-alternatives/

Diaspora is certainly the most interesting: open source and decentralized.

Or at least join another social media based outside the USA (where S stands for Stasi):

https://vk.com/ (based in Russia but with an English interface)
https://www.wechat.com/en/ (China)

Personally I don't trust any of them. FB becomes like a spying agency, requesting real name, real ID copy, real photo, real phone, etc., and what else ? A photo of your iris, a DNA sample and your fingerprints may be next time ? Fuck off !

Honestly, its better not to have one in the first place. If you want to keep in contact with people, exchange phone numbers, email each other, etc.
