元朝，闾门县令之妻因性欲及对夫君不满而与多人通奸，被发现后遭“骑木驴”酷刑致死。县令之女阿婴，许配给武举封青云。阿婴与武举丈夫新婚半月，返家探望知县阿爹。小俩口在半路的大树地段歇息。这一歇，就再也没跨进阿爹的县府门槛。知县等到深夜，不见婿偕女来，派了营缉捕的主薄与捕头去寻，寻到大树头只见武举尸横当场阿婴失踪，主薄在满地狼藉中发现一盒胭脂，不似阿婴之物。捕头脑筋转三转，当街逮住了正在兜售水粉的小货郎。经过排查，原来是路途中，阿婴之母曾戏弄的情人雄艳处于报复心理强行占有阿婴，并且导致封氏死去。阿婴在封氏死时魂已离身，于是人鬼间的复仇行动出现在阿婴身上……
