Thanks for the reply. You mean translation right ? I do real translation (not auto translated subs), but not for free, as it takes time to do good subs. If you want free stuff, check this thread, people share auto translated subtitles. It's not accurate at all, even nouns are wrong, tons of missing lines, but it's free.
It seems @darksider59 was correct to your question. Thanks for the reply.
No transcription is the writing down of speech.
Translation is different.
I think I should have explained my query better. Will see if I can edit it later.
Basically am looking for someone or some program to put spoken japanese into printed english.
Which hopefully should be easier and cheaper than subtitles.
Btw what are your rates for subtitles?
I'm glad you warn him/herIf you want free stuff, check this thread, people share auto translated subtitles. It's not accurate at all, even nouns are wrong, tons of missing lines, but it's free.
As Taako said, doing that means "translation". Transcription would be getting spoken japanese to text. I think that's what people do for their auto translated subs. In the above mentioned thread, I did a quick comparison (software vs human). Just in a 1min audio, there were missing lines (and the translation was wrong).Basically am looking for someone or some program to put spoken japanese into printed english.
1,7$/min.Btw what are your rates for subtitles?
Indeed. I just check with some uncensored porn we translated (those are shorter, 40min to 1hour) and for 1hour, there are 800 lines.I'm glad you warn him/her
I laugh at some of the claims they got 1000...2000 lines.
A 30-40 min scene(certain movies) can get you close to 700, easy. If you really subbing.
But, let people do what's necessary
No surprise there. I encountered it too.As Taako said, doing that means "translation". Transcription would be getting spoken japanese to text. Which is why I encourage people to look over their subs.Indeed. I just check with some uncensored porn we translated (those are shorter, 40min to 1hour) and for 1hour, there are 800 lines.

If you are looking for a program to dictate spoken Japanese...to English? That means you want translation.
Or...
Do you want a program, that you or someone(speaks Japanese and English) AND...can transcribe with?

The program thanks. Am looking at it now.No surprise there. I encountered it too.
Which is why I encourage people to look over their subs.
Machines are helpful.
But... what looks like a 30mins or 2hour sub from machines...
in reality, can be twice as long. If subbed correctly.
Currently working on a sub now, the 1st scene is 40-42 min. I am @32mins and have over 589 lines
You can edit your header. So don't worryThe program thanks. Am looking at it now.
As I Realised my header meaning is not very clear.
Might close it down and post again more claerly.
SubtitleEditHi
Can anyone help me help me transcribe spoken japanese into english?
is there a program perhaps or a person who could help?
i
You can use SubtitleEdit to--you'll never guess---edit subtitles. I have been using this software to refine the subs I have for URE-019, for example. It's kind of fun to do the edits and then watch the scenes again.SubtitleEdit
Let me know if you need help using it. Basically, you go to menu > Video > Audio To Text (Whisper) > Engine set to Const-me > Language set to Japanese and Model set to large. (Tick translate to English)SubtitleEdit
Thanks but can you send a link to subtitledit please?Let me know if you need help using it. Basically, you go to menu > Video > Audio To Text (Whisper) > Engine set to Const-me > Language set to Japanese and Model set to large. (Tick translate to English)
You can also try vosk option for audio to text in SubtitleEdit.
yea that happens sometime as it uses ai to guess when it can't hear properly, you can try vosk method if that happens.I've tried this and suddenly for long stretches it'll give the same translated text. It's random. Like it'll say "Thank you very much" then repeat than for the next 5 minutes even though different text is being said. Anyone have this problem?
