What type of files are we able to upload now? What are the size limitations? Is there any plan on ever allowing mp3 file types here? We do actually have a music section but I don't know how you feel about hosting mp3 or FLAC files.

I don't believe the information is posted anywhere so I thought I would ask. The old forum had the limitations and acceptable file types on the upload que (I use the default, haven't checked the other(?) uploaders).

Hosting music files on our servers is somewhat problematic, since the guys in the music-industry are way more short tempered as the usual JAV-people.

The Filesizelimit for each attachement is around 8MB
atm the following types are allowed:
zip
txt
pdf
png
jpg
jpeg
jpe
gif
torrent
rar

Thank you. Hard to believe anyone can be more greedy than the porn industry but after following the accounts of the RIAA and the MPAA on torrentfreak I would have to concur with your assessment. Too bad though. I was hoping the Japanese music industry wasn't as bad as their western counterparts but I suppose merchant guilds have never truly stopped at their hopes for ruling the world ( I mean after you make so much money, what else is left?).

You could still put your mp3 file into a rar file. If it's bigger than 8 MB you could split it into several parts. That's a bit more complicated than being able to upload (and download) it directly, but still does the trick.
When you put your stuff into a rar or zip file you are theoretically allowed to upload every type of file. Of course the second question then would be how long the mods/admins are willing to tolerate that.

Already know about that, there is a reason rar files are allowed at AO in the first place. Thx for your consideration though. One of the reasons I was asking about file sizes was to know when to split rars and when I don't need to. It is not like I will be uploading any albums in rar format....you need a torrent or filehoster for that (which I have done already in the music torrent section, I would upload more if I downloaded more).

I guess it is no fun to split huge files in 8MB ZIP or RAR archives and upload them here. It would take surely some time. Same for the download. ;)
So for really huge files torrent or filehosters are definitely the better way. :)
Or setting up a TOR service would also a possibility. :D But not everyone is able to use TOR (some ISPs seems to block it). And it is also not very fast. In addition it's not build for transferring huge files and gives a lot of stress to the TOR network. :(

Well single mp3 singles are generally between 8-10MBs and it really does not take too long to upload two 5MB files here. As a side note: Tor has been very fast for me lately. The United Nations and some European entities have been very supportive of it and the Tor team has really made a lot of progress. I never heard of an ISP blocking Tor (maybe in China) but Cloudflare and many sites do (try to).
