I recently purchased two jav videos from a site. Both are WMVs. The first worked fine (so I don't think I was scammed) , the second I get:

""No suitable decoder module. VLC does not support the audio or video format "undf". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this."

I have a mac computer so I won't be able to install windows software although access to windows isn't out of the question. Personally I would prefer to find a way to convert it to a mac playing file.

undf most likely means undefined which means VLC can't figure out what it is. That means there's most likely something wrong with the file they gave you or it got corrupted during download.

Try to install mediainfo and see what it tells you about the audio codec for that file.

Undf is not a file format as such. It stands for undefined, meaning the player was unable to recognize the file format and hence decode it using the correct codec.

VLC plays anything so if VLC player won't recognise the file then I doubt that conversion to another format will make it readable by any player
