VR - is it worth it?

I see an increasing amount of VR titles being released. I don't have a VR headset, I don't play games, so I would only be using it to look at movies. I am wondering: should I get a headset? Is it an extra/better level of experience?

I have VR since almost two years ago (PC VR, Samsung Odyssey Plus). I bought it to play games, and for six months I only played games, because I thought, "VR porn will be like standard porn, but with a big screen". What a mistake...

The first time I watched a VR porn... It was mindblowing!!! Since then, I haven't watched standard porn anymore. I don't need it, it is like to change from the old porn maganizes to video, you don't want to return to the magazines...

The mistake is to think that VR is the same, with a screen on your eyes. VR means real size and 3D. VR is immersion, you are in the same room with the girl. You see the girls in real size in front of you, it's not a TV or even worse, a tiny smartphone. And they are in 3D, so they are so real... You FEEL they are in front of you, and they are talking and kissing and making love with YOU.

It is breathtaking and a game-changer. As I say for a year I have only watched VR porn, standard porn is the past for me. I don't want yo watch porn on a tiny flat screen, and I don't want to see another men fucking girls. Now I AM fucking the girls. It is awesome and mindblowing.

But, this is important. If you try VR, don't use a smartphone. Their screens are not good for VR. Use real VR glasses: Oculus Go, Oculus Quest, PC VR glasses. With these screens you don't see the pixels. And use only 4K videos, even if the glasses are 2K. It is almost real-life resolution, you will feel the girls a few centimeters (inches) from you, guaranteed...

+1 for Oculus Go! I pair Go with Skybox VR and Plex with DNLA enabled. Its pretty damn good.

my only rants are that the resolution is not as sharp as my TV
This is why I use PC VR. With my Samsung Odyssey Plus and a PC I can activate a 400% of supersampling and it is blu-ray quality (if the film is 4K and has good bitrate).

Oculus GO resolution is 2560 x 1440, but VR needs to display two images to generate the 3D effect, so you see a 1280 x 1440 image per eye. This is the real resolution, a bit better than 720p. It is OK but not as sharp as it could be.

If yoy can pay it, Oculus Quest has 1440 × 1600 resolution per eye, much better.

Another very good solution to enjoy sharper videos is to use supersampling, a trick to multiply the resolution via software. With PC VR you can apply 400% of supersampling, even more, the sharpness is awesome. Witch Oculus Go or Quest you need to find a player that accept supersampling, I think there are some, or maybe the Oculus app can use supersampling, I don't know. But with portable glasses this option is limited because supersampling needs a powerful GPU.

With 4K VR videos you're not going to see that big of a difference because the field of view doesn't cover all of the video's resolution, so you're limited by the resolution of the video file itself. Quest's also not strong enough for supersampling without Oculus Link (connecting to a PC), but that wouldn't help with a 4K VR video either. However Quest is better when watching 2D videos because the emulated screen fills only a small part of your field of view. It also has USB-C that enables faster charging, which seems like a minor advantage but the Go does charge super slow. If you actually want to play games then Quest is a must, the Go's controls are very limited.

Hello !

I am going to purchase
Oculus Go Standalone Virtual Reality Headset - 32GB
But how can i watch porn on it. Please describe step by step procedure as i don't know how.

Thanks & Regards,
there are a bunch of different ways - check out a paid site like https://sexlikereal.com or pornhub. you can get VR content there. Alternately there are is a bunch of content available here and elsewhere. These can either be transferred to the headset directly or you can run a fileshare on a NAS and access them with Skybox. If I were you, I'd start with a paid site as the free stuff is pretty low res. SLR is decent.

Paid sites lite SLR, R18 or Pornhub use streaming and it is very low quality. And their players are crap.

It is better to download content here at Akiba or similar, or at paid stores that allow to download, like A Festa, and use your favorite player. Much more image quality and personalization.

Would a non-"first person view" VR JAV make a good VR movie? Maybe just like watching people fucking from a couple of feet away. I also imagine it could be great in an orgy scenario.

I'm asking because although the first person view is great for immersion, I can't help thinking that the girl is fucking a guy with a giant camera contraption strapped to his head.

There are some third-person VRs where you see the girl and the man. I don't like it because I don't want to see an ugly naked man in full-size and 3D fucking a girl. Too real and disgusting... :P I prefer POV, but there are some non-POV.

What I really miss in JAV VR is third-person lesbian movies... they are almost non-existent... In fact there are almost not lesbian in VR. I can't undestand...

They are western sites... I don't like them (and I am european...). Full of fake tits, piercings, tatoos, tons of make-up... and the lesbian movies are mostly dildos and fake robotic lesbian. Nothing comparable to JAV lesbian.

What I don't understand is why there are not JAV Lesbian VR. In 2020 I can't remenber a full JAV Lesbian VR title between 2.000 JAV VR movies...

The problem is that most of PC headsets are always out of stock...

If you have a PC you still can use the Oculus Quest 2, you can connect to a PC via a USB cable or Wifi and use them with PC software. But it is a data cable, so you obtain real time video in streaming: the PC runs the app or the games, an Oculus app converts the image to video in real time and send it to Quest 2 vía USB cable or WiFi. So it is a litle blurry. But the glasses are cheap, 300 dollars.

Another option is Oculus Rift S, real PC headset with HDMI, around 350 dollars, but Oculus has discontinued it.

The Samsung Odyssey Plus, very good glasses, the ones I use, but discontinued, with luck you can find them at eBay for 300 or 350$.

HP Reverb G2 are very good too, but they cost around 500 dollars. Pimax glasses around 700 dollars, Valve Index (the best) around 1.000 dollars...

But If you are not going to play games, then with Rift S or Oddyssey Plus or Reverb G2 for best resolution, you don't need more.

Thanks a lot for the rundown of the available VR headset hardware choices. I have been doing my own research for the last two days and have tentatively narrowed the choices down to Oculus Quest 2 and Pimax 4k:

  • Oculus Quest 2 is the latest generation in its product line, it has been reported that the display quality has been vastly improved over the Oculus Quest 1, the price is very competitive and it is available from Amazon for $299,99, it is also a complete VR system that includes controller, sensors etc. I believe that it also uses HDML cable alongside the USB data cable, so the image quality should not be any worse than the Oculus Rift, am I missing something here?
  • Pimax 4k can only be found from eBay, it is a headset only without a VR controller, it has a higher display resolution (claimed to be 4k) than Oculus Quest 2's, it has a lower GPU requirement, and the price is better than all other VR headsets (including used) you mentioned above, I am actually very interested in getting a Pimax 4k as opposed to other newer generation VR headsets on the market now, what would be your opinion on this line of thinking?

UPDATE: I just found one Pimax 4k on eBay, listed as in "Open Box" condition, and the pictures of it looked like it is actually as new as it was described, got it for just a little over one-third of the price of the Oculus Quest 2, so I think I this should be a safe deal, if for whatever reason I am not happy with the decision, I can always resell it on eBay without much loss since the purchase price is so low.

Well, that means I am sinking even deeper in the JAV trap with the new discovery of the "VR JAV", my jail sentence now may read: "life without the possibility of probation".

I don't recommend Pimax 4K. They are old tech. They only uses 60 Hz, Quest 2 is 90 Hz. And it has judder. And without controllers, you need to use the player with your head, it is very awkward.

I believe that it also uses HDML cable alongside the USB data cable, so the image quality should not be any worse than the Oculus Rift, am I missing something here?
No, Oculus Quest 2 don't have a HDMI cable, only USB cable. You can watch JAV VR without a PC (or cable) but the native players are very limited. If you want to use PC software (games or app) you need to use streaming with compressed video.
