I really don't pay much attention to males in porn, beyond their impact on the female character. So my impressions are not nuanced. These are just visual, graphic impressions accumulated over time.
Black actors have a porn image that can actually carry a visual message: larger, longer, stronger, aggressive to the point of predatory. Put a black American in a scene and his presence creates expectations, it pushes the story in a new direction. It threatens. Their image dominates.
White guys don't project singular images. I'd bet 70% of white porn actors could be equally cast as predators or cuckolds. As a westerner who thinks Japanese porn is the best in the world, what is my impression (stereotype) of a male, Japanese porn actor?
These are just honest impressions--not intended to insult. And remember, I don't have the benefit of understanding the dialogue in the JAV I've viewed. I am totally interpreting the actions and visuals of these movies. So mine are admittedly simplistic, 2-dimensional impressions.
So a Japanese male appears in a scene with a western female. What are my expectations? I expect he will use a vibrator on her. He will eventually bind her elaborately (and beautifully). What I don't like about these stereotypes is that they express an inner weakness in the man. The female has to be subdued with props or tools, not simply by the man's will or strength.
I like the stealthy approach of Japanese photographer characters in genre like "non-nude erotic posing gone too far" videos. I see it in some gravure videos. The JAV male slowly manipulates the girl to a point where she has gone too far, gotten herself aroused, and finally submits under pressure. In some, the photographer looks cunning. In many, the girl just looks dumb.
There are two other JAV male "types" I see frequently. One I detest is the 28 year old high school student. Now these guys often do directly dominate the female teacher. I just wish they looked at least age 20!
The other male JAV type that I see (and there are many JAV genre I have not seen) is the shota boy. With mosaic over his face to convey the illusion of being a boy too young for porn, these characters are (to me) the most interesting. They exhibit shyness and insecurity, but are also predatory and persistent. They are sexually awkward with their intended conquest. Male performance is better in European porn, they challenge girls way more, no comfort zone (vide: Nacho Vidal, Manuel Ferrara, Keiran Lee, Rocco Siffredi ...) anal sex has become standard in companies like Brazzers, Jules Jordan, Evil Angel ... . As for girls, I like them both: white and asian.
