I actually don't listen to the radio much anymore, I am not sure why. Nor do I listen much too music on any other medium. It is not that I don't enjoy music, I do. Rap, blues, jazz, country, folk, rock, heavy metal, and I enjoy foreign,(foreign as in I don't understand the language), versions of some of the same. But I haven't been in much of a music mood the last few years and I am quite out of touch with it.

I do enjoy musicals a lot now and download and watch many of them,(more than I download from here actually). From Oklahoma to the television show Glee and much in between I find that which sates my need.

I guess this might surprise some nics who know of me but there it is. And no I am not gay,(not that there is anything wrong with that), it just is what it is.

Pretty much sums my musical tastes up.

My iPod refuses to scrobble (and I'm not installing iTunes) so it's not totally reflective.

I guess I mostly listen to 90s stuff. The last 'new' album I enjoyed was Rammstein's latest effort.

All kinds of music, from Classical to J-Pop.

But I'm heavily into Swing. Basie, Ellington, Goodman, the Dorsey brothers, Miller. The whole Big Band sound.

In Flames,Amorphis,Blind Guardian,Dark Tranquillity,Paradise Lost,Ayreon

i liked all of them, with a special preference for Paradise Lost: Icon and Draconian Times are 2 of the best. metal. albums. EVER!

In Flames and Blind Guardian already gave their best, with Clayman and Nightfall in Middle-Earth, and now i find them quite boring

i also like Manowar, Legion of the Damned, and a thousand others

oldies but goldies: Pantera, Annihilator, Coroner...

generally, i'm more into pagan/black/folk/medieval/gothic metal
Corvus Corax anybody?

But I haven't been in much of a music mood the last few years

I'm in a constant music mood. It's the main thing that helps me unwind. ''Music has charms to soothe a savage breast'' :virtuous:

I mostly listen to hardcore punk bands and subgenres originated from '90s Swedish (my personal favorite), '80s American and '80s British hardcore scenes, and contemporary bands who fuse those subgenres. I wanted to share some Japanese bands and even put a teaser in the Japanese Music thread, but I ended up focusing on Idols. Names of my favorite bands probably wouldn't mean much.

I also listen to all kinds of R'n'R (although I'm not a fan of metal), all the way back to the blues of Robert Johnson and Skip James.

true to that every single song is beyond amazing on those albums

yeah after clayman in flames went from melodic to mainstream but still good live performance of them

blind guardian overused tolkien way too much no wonder no new album until 2011

if you don't mind labeling them "Gothic", you should try Sirenia (but i'm sure you already know them).
with their last album they evolved a little more, but i still haven't digested the new vocalist :sigh:

singer205_versie01_small.jpg

it's not that i liked Monika Pedersen SO much, but she was just a better singer.

many people hated Morten when he left Tristania (awesome group too, btw), but it looks like he knew what he was doing, and now Sirenia has taken Nightwish' place (but just because of the Tarja affair... that damn bitch!)

also, some other recommendations:

Dalriada

Festung Nebelburg

Kromlek

Legion of the Damned

aaaaand!!!! fucking AMON AMARTH!!!!!
death in fire is good for headbanging but it's largely overrated too

i listen to music depending on my mood. when i feel like i gotta lot of engery and just want to dance..i listen to pop...i go for lady gaga and michael jackson. when i am stressed and need some unwind time susan boyle does it for me. it really depends on my mood. good music creates good feelings.
