this is a vestige of outdated governmental policy regarding olympic preparations that resulted from the concerns of certain nations, which might best be summed up in the phrase “you know, some of your pornography is, how you say, hubba hubba hubba hubba”. japan wasn’t about to have foreigners dictate the conduct its sexual life. but for the sake of international harmony, it decided to hang up a few drapes in order to camouflage the most tempting of temptresses and to help re-direct attention when the roving eyes of foreign men lost interest in the ladies’ shot put. such men were to be told:

our pornography does not exist
if it did exist, you would not be able to see it
if you saw it, you would not be able to buy it

then the covid virus hit and all hell broke loose. every big decision regarding the olympics hung on the horns of a dilemma: which is more important , the international prestige gained from hosting the games, or the health and well-being of the citizenry. understandably, no one wanted to take responsibility for a clear policy decision in this matter. agreement could only be reached on the obvious: the disease-ridden foreigners had to be kept OUT! and for a while, japan was going to hold the olympics, but only for the japanese. [i rather liked that idea.] but now, the japanese can’t go either. even domestic policy seems to be:

the tokyo olympics do not exist
if they did exist, you would not be able to see them
if you saw them, you would not be able to cheer for them

one wonders if ultimately the foreign athletes will be allowed in the country. the emperor’s new olympics may end up with only a few japanese athletes running races for no one. meanwhile, you still can’t beg, steal, or borrow the videos of first star, even though there are no foreign men slithering down the back streets of tokyo. there just isn’t anybody you can write to and say “now that the green-eyed gaijin aren’t coming, can we get back to jacking off, japanese style?” nope. nobody is going to go back and take down the drapes… not until well after the games are gone.

that mio haruna… she does have a nice snatch, doesn’t she?

Thank you, I heard about this issue. I didn't know it was true. I wonder how much porn was actually censored.

First Star/Mercury like Prestige and other studios simply pulled out of DMM to focus on other platforms because the cut wasn't worth it. Losing R18 access was a sad casualty.

Most JAV studios seem to be interested only in the domestic market, so when they decide to no longer be on the DMM site they don't really care it means they are gone from R18 as well.

Thanks do you know of all the studios that pulled out. Also do you know how to access the libraries?

(Sorry, quoting works weird for me)

Electromog --> If I had to guess, while R18 does really, really well, I have a suspicion the lion's share of sales come from the big DMM/Will studios. Smaller outfits and studios that focus more on fetish content probably aren't making that much. So when a studio pulls out of DMM and thus R18, they probably aren't viewing the R18 side of the equation as a great loss if they believe they'll make up for it and then some via other domestic platforms (of course you can then make the argument that they're burying their heads in the sand given Japan's shrinking population and thus shrinking domestic market).

ramp_it_up --> Your image doesn't load for me, but if I had to guess, it's probably some risque cover art from First Star. They cast younger actresses, but they are a studio that goes through the Ethics system. Thus, everyone is over 18 (20, really) and fully consenting.
