I don't know details about the event. It seems that there are several events for prices every years. DMM has one and if it's the same, I guess there are several categories like "best rookie", "best 3P" etc ...
I would say that actresses do that for the money (90%) but having a price make them "happy" because they feel rewarded by some kind of jury.
