As you can see, JAV is a very big big world. I knew JAV around 1998, from the age of Chiasa Aonuma, Akira Fubuki... till now.



To imagine easily, you can see it's the ice age of a dial-up internet (via phone line) with very low quality clip that have to download by kazaa or e-donkey (a p2p program). And I didn't know how much storage that I used. Of course, I just only save video of JAV idols that I like, but that was already a huge number.

And I realized that If this thing last longer, it will be impossible. I will need more and more space for storage, but how much? One, two... or ten tetrabytes? Beside that, the most important problem is I will never have time to look back videos from early time. I bet that you even don't remember the names and faces of some idols or videos that you loaded before.

So I must have delete them to shorten the list of my collection. And to do that, I need a criteria for this process.

I am a little bit obsessive hoarder, but I keep to at least one principle. I only download something if I would watch it at least once. And most days I keep to only one ejaculation, so the absolute upper limit is 1 vid per day. But in reality is much lower. Surprisingly, being locked up at home, I am watching and downloading even less. I think now I'm on 2 / week pace.

So I think it's pretty manageable, say 10GB/wk, that only 1/2 TB/yr. Say a new HDD every 8 years. I can deal with that, financial cost, space cost and management cost. Even doubling that... a new HDD every 4 years.

For criteria... it's kinda useless to discuss, isn't it? I of course collect and keep whatever that give me the hardest baddest erection. Isn't that subjective? About 70% of my collection is a small number of top idols, right now... there are 6 on that list (so that's average 6 vids a month...). Another 5-10% for hot new idols from top studios, there's minimal chance I can predict who will join my top idol list but it's a little game I play with myself, after all those 6 will eventually retire. Remaining 25% or so for any quirky/kinky/fetish theme (non-r*** anal, onsen/sento with 3 busty girls or more etc)... So yeah about 10 per month total...

What I realized some time ago, there's a huge time-sink/trap to organize/clean up my JAV collection. I have a few times spent a whole weekend and delete a bunch of stuffs and end up with near-zero impact on the bulk of my collection. So whenever I do that, I keep peeking at the clock to stop myself wasting too much time. Better just to watch some JAV, fap and take a nap.

OTOH... cleaning up (or trying to) my old JAV can also bring some joy as I re-discover some old vids, it's funny nowadays I can't tolerate getting any vid less than 1080p or with watermarks. But watching certain old 360x240 clips can give me a erection so hard it hurts.

Since I'm not a collector, so I will have to take a serious consideration of what will be saved in my HDD. I though about it long ago, but it seems that I've just found the way out recently. So, this is what I got.

1. The feeling (about what you've seen)

I think this's the most important criteria for me. There will have movies that you can not give the reason why you love it so much. For example: NSPS-297 of Yurie Matsushima. Damn, I can't explain why I love this movie. If break down in every single target, it won't meet any of mine. She's quite mature, not too pretty and even don't have a good looking body... but the feeling about this movie is incredible. Maybe it comes from the plot... I don't know... so I think these are exceptions that you can't judge by criterias. Just watch and feel you love it or not. And how much you love it!



2. The quality of movie

As you know, a JAV movie nowaday can also have many versions with different quality: SD / HD, the original rip, the [99Thz] rip or Chinese's watermarks... In my early years, I don't care so much about it. But now, I deleted all the movies with Chinese's watermark because of their bad quality. It's really annoying and terrible!

But due to limitation of my storage way, I can't handle films with the best quality like Blu-ray (which is more than 10GB/film). So I choose the quality around 3 - 5 GB for the movie that I love, and the rest is SD version also ok.

3. The actress

• First is the face! Actually, the body is not the first thing that keep my attention. It's the face. I always have my favourite list of all time. And I belive everybody will have their own taste too.

• Second is the emotion when she fuck or being fucked. I love passionated scenes, which shown us the desire to make love with her. Kissing deeply, sweating profusely, squirting, trembling & twitching when orgasming, urination (it's not urination genre in JAV, it's just about the girl can't hold it anymore when orgasming. you can take a look at Ameri Hoshi (CESD-877) for example)...

• Third is creampie (nakadashi). I love creampie genre, especially multiple creampie or continuous creampie. And with me, the perfect ending must be a creampie.

So I will consider these 3 issues of an actress to make decision to keep a movie or not. The first criteria is to make a wishlist from her filmography. The second is to decide keeping it in HD quality or not. And the third is for SD version only.

I have to admit to being a collector at this point, meaning that I hoard and rarely purge anything.

I've done my collecting in waves.

• 2002 - 2003 - Introduction to JAV, mainly Usenet​
• 2009 - 2011 - First serious collection period, mostly through eDonkey/KAD, Shareaza and then BT with occasional DL hosts
• 2019 - present - Second period, almost exclusively BT

I tend to focus on genres and niche kinks rather than specific actresses, series or studios. I don't hold on to much vanilla content outside of some for favorite actresses.

• 50% of what I have is "lesbian" (ie. exclusively F/F) content. The vast majority of releases I have from pre-2011 fall here.
• File sizes being generally smaller in the past (600MB to 2GB per title) means that rezu takes up only 2.5TB currently for roughly 700-800 titles.

Finally committing to a proper NAS solution with Plex server that will house what I have with room to grow if the desire persists.

This is how I download 99% of the videos: I go to 141jav (before I also used nextjav, it's the same) and check if there's something I catch my eye. I open 2/3 videos and the next thing is to open the actresses and series catalogues in the same web. Sometimes I also open some categories.
Depending on how horny I am I download 5 or 25 videos...
And the method to order it is easy... I go to a HDD with space and I download the videos to the X://JAV/sss, being "sss" the name of the actress (if she's hot and I'll download more of her) the series (same thing) or the category, if it's not any of the other 2 options.
From time to time (pretty much everyday) I go to the Completed category of qbittorrent and I check the videos. If it's good I delete the torrent. If it's not I delete the torrent and the torrent and the file.

And sometimes I reorder my HDDs. For example if I have several Nagisa Mitsuki, BLOR or MISM folders in my HDDs I try to merge them.

But the criteria to store the files is basically "could I nut to this video in any moment?"

And I've discovered that my enjoyment of JAV is at least 2x w/ a crude sub file, 3x with a good sub file. It's hard for me to even watch them anymore without sub files. I will only download one without an available sub if it's a favorite idol and is on theme for my tastes.

So I've had to go back through my old archive. Many of these are 2011-2016 where it can be hard to find a sub file. And I'm deleting 2 out of 3 that don't have available srt's. The other third are basically the top third of that archive. Those I am keeping for now, in hopes of finding sub files for them eventually.

Few months ago I used to use both 141jav and nextjav, and I'd say the uploaded the same torrents... but seems like 141jav now uploads PPV films.
If I don't find something in 141jav I just go to sukebei or I try to find it online..

I used to use 141JAV quite a bit but much prefer the features of JAVdb now.

For a start 141JAV assaults me with pop-ups on mobile.

Secondly, it only hosts one (or two) torrents per release. Worse, the magnets are sometimes different from the downloadable BT files with one SD size and the other HD/FHD... trial and error.

JAVdb will often have 6-10 different releases at different size points from different rippers/"whatever passes for warez groups these days". You can frequently tell the source from the release title (99Thz, SiS, 1024/2048 etc) and avoid the aggregious watermarks or hard coded subtitles.

I also like the ability to favorite actresses, studios, IDs and even series. Also like to be able to build a wish list and custom lists of titles I have collected by genre/studio.

You can report database errors and request updates to the titles.

I might use 141JAV once a month now only to look for niche titles that somehow haven't made it over JAVdb yet.
