Your thoughts on Windows 10 being able to disable pirated games/software/porn?

So, basically, from what I've discovered. Users with the Windows 10 OS will have any pirated games/software uninstalled or disabled off of their systems. Personally, I'm feeling a little skeptical, I mean..with users like ourselves downloading "porn" per-say..would they disable that? Honestly, who is gonna buy porn? lol
I think I'll stick with Windows 7 for now...I think the extended support ends in early 2020. :/

I don't see the connection between installing pirated games and software and buying porn. First is illegal while second is not (okay, in some countries porn is illegal, too, so buying it instead of downloading doesn't make things better in these cases).

I also stick with Windows 7 for the time being. But my next computer will maybe have Windows 10 pre-installed. Maybe it is a good time to test Linux (e.g. Ubuntu Desktop). But I'm not sure yet as it may lack drivers or e.g. energy saving capabilities.

This has been debunked. They might disable pirated copies of Microsoft software, but third party software? Videos? No way. I'm not sure if that is even possible.

Yeah I'm not planning an upgrade anytime soon. Even though most of this stuff has been debunked already I dun plan to switch until all the teething issues have been resolved, dun want another Vista, ME or 98(before second edition) crapfest. By then Windows 10 should also have been scrutinized enough that you can find out exactly what it sends out from your network etc and I'll have my standalone Linux firewall/FS/torrentbox block all the known addresses.

Disabling Videos and other Media would be a little much even for them, first of all how would they know what the content is, and second how would they know if you bought it or not? I mean sure there are ways to find out but I don't think they would risk the outcry if they started revealing they could watch your porn remotely.

Even that is really too much, because now that they admittedly have the ability you can bet every single penny on the planet that the "MAFIAA" eventually will point a lawsuit in Microsoft's direction and demand that they "stop enabling pirates" and that they have a responsibility/duty to fight piracy by extending their scheme to everything copyrighted.

The "MAFIAA" would just have them assume that ANY copy is pirated, because one way or another you've made an illegal copy(even if you own the physical media you can't make a digital copy of it according the the worldview of the "MAFIAA". In fact it's quite possible as per the recent Cox ruling that if MS doesn't do that they wont be liable for safe harbour/mere conduit protection. Though I'm not sure how that translates from ISP's to software manufacturers.

I think it has to do with Windows anti-virus software reports. Over the years they have learned a lot about what cracks are used to hack into software so they just remove the files before they get into the system. I had the same problem trying to install "cracked software" and realized I had windows antivirus accidently turned on (ooops!) and it was deleting the files as I downloaded them. There are probably workarounds to this problem in windows 10 by disabling all services relating to antivirus and installing a third party application firewall that monitors any attempt to make system changes. I have heard rumors that Microsoft has found a way to circumvent third party firewalls but I have not confirmed it.....I would not put such things past them but it would be illegal. What is a third party firewall software company going to do though? sue Microsoft? stand in line buddy.

As far as disabling/unistalling Microsoft related software they have been working on that for some time. They just search to see if the registration codes are up-to-date and correct and verify it with the Microsoft database. There is no possible way I am aware of that Microsoft can detect if you have pirated videos....not that I am aware of. That would mean they would have to monitor your system and then check to see if you are an authorized user for almost each and every file with the registered copyright owner of that file. Not only illegal and immoral but unfeasable....beyond the capability of even Microsoft (or any country, organization or grouping thereof).

You can just tell them not to install an operating system and install one of your choosing (if it is your peronal pc). Retailers will try to force these things on you but they cannot. Retailers get kickbacks for installing software (and usually you get charged a little extra for it as well), just tell them you want a virgin system and you plan to install everything yourself.

The most microsoft will do with Windows 10 is collect basic data, unidentifiable data, on you; think time windows 10 is on and how often you update.

If Microsoft is to do what you suspect that woudl be breaking a lot of laws.
