koone joined, pooled funds are 150USD.
SND-28, a certain person kindly gave me this DVD, many thanks.
The first 5 titles can be ordered and provided next week.

1JPY = 0.011593 USD (now@YahooFinance)
Paypal currency conversion fees are 2.5%
SND-28 0
SND-36 4300
BBB-05 3600
NJS-04 2800
NJS-06 2800
sum JPY 13500
sum USD 156.51
sum USD incl. fees 160.52

This time I used this rule
1. Titles are ordered from the top of the ranking until pooled funds are used up (closest to +-0).
For the next vote I propose to maintain this rule and add the following rules
2. But the minimum requirement for a title to be ordered are 2 votes.
3. At a maximum 5 titles are ordered per vote.
because it's hard to handle too many titles at once
and it might be a waste of the funds to add too many titles at once or titles with only 1 vote.
Just wanna make rules rather than making subjective decisions every time.
As always, open to comments and discussion.

As there have been several joinings during the vote
how about scheduling the next vote to 9/1-9/10.
It’s easier to vote if it’s known in advance.
We can delay it if there are no funds available.

UPDATED edited to a better wording after following post.

This time I used the rule to
1. Add such a number of titles that takes the pooled funds closest to +-0.
For next time I would like to propose the additional rules
2. Only titles given 2 or more votes are added.
3. At a maximum 5 titles are added per vote.

Many Thanks to the person who provided us with SND-28 as well! :tea:

1) I don't quite understand how your system works. Will you give us an example?

2) This is tricky. How do we do this? Shall we all give suggestions on the 1st of the month and people have to "second that" or express their support for the suggested title by the 5th before we start the actual voting? (And what happens if we ended up with more than 5 titles all more than 2 votes each? We need an example of this too. :)

3) Agree. Let's stick with 5 or 6 titles every vote but we have to agree on the number. My question to everyone is this: what shall we do with the 1 or 2 titles that didn't get enough votes? Will the next vote feature those titles that didn't have enough votes or dropped totally (becos they may get enough support the next round of votes)? What does everyone think about this?

4) Let's all agree to start the each round of votes on 1st of the month and ends on the 10th so that Newyorker can purchase and encode to deliver to us.

Any other thoughts or suggestions how we can fine-tune our system? International brains at work here. :study:

There are some misunderstandings, maybe due to my wording.

1. Titles are ordered from the top of the ranking until pooled funds are used up (closest to +-0).
now/ pooled funds = 150USD
goal/ pooled funds = +-0USD

example for this order
order 4 titles => pooled funds = +23USD
order 5 titles => pooled funds = -11USD
order 6 titles => pooled funds = -60USD

If you order 5 titles, the "pooled funds" are "closest to +-0" after the order.

2. Only titles given 2 or more votes are added.
This should mean follows
2. But the minimum requirement for a title to be ordered are 2 votes.
For example if the ranking was as follows this time
SND-28 / 5 votes
SND-36 / 4 votes
BBB-05 / 3 votes
NJS-04 / 1 vote
NJS-06 / 1 vote
Only the top 3 would be ordered because 4th and 5th don't have 2 or more votes.
Doesn't make much sense to add titles only one member is interested in.

We don't need to "collect requests" or "second that".
I realized that's just more work without any merit.
Like this time all titles can be requested and advertised just by voting for it.
The "collect requests" is integrated in the vote itself.
As you can change your vote you don't loose any vote by this.

And what happens if we ended up with more than 5 titles all more than 2 votes each?
If we use the three rules which I proposed.

  • More than 5 titles are never ordered due to rule 3. That means titles ranked as 6th and below are not ordered.
  • Besides 2 votes is only the minimum requirement, and 5 titles is the maximum regardless of the funds.
  • In your example we need the info about funds/prices to apply rule 1 at first which decides how many titles are ordered in the first place.
  • Rules 2 an 3 just restrict this number to a maximum of 5 and require 2 votes as a minimum.

To your 3)
There are actually 10 titles which got a vote in the end this time.
We don't have to ban some title or give privileges to some title.
All such rules have downsides somehow.
We can just leave everything to the vote and let the whole group decide.
If one wants a title which didn't make it this time one should just vote for it next time again.
Better in the beginning as last minute titles don't have a realistic chance.

Info to join this group order click here

The answer is you never have to pay again, it's just like described above.

The idea is

  • Everybody contributes 30USD
  • Everybody gets every title
Every title means titles added before your joining and titles added in the future, just everything.

Financial side
The total Paypal balance collected is
12 members * 30USD = 360USD
This balance is converted to JPY in Paypal and used to fund the titles.
210USD has already been used for the initial titles.
About 150USD is used for the titles of this time.
Any further titles will be funded solely by further joinings.

The whole story is archived here.

UPDATED
And I also got PM and realized the joining info is not that clear...
It will be made clear when it's updated next time.

when/how do we pay?

jinux (unless you are a new member who just joined us), our contributed money has been used to purchase the earlier 4 titles already. New members who recently joined us will purchase new titles and have complete access to our existing library of titles and the new ones. Next round of new members will also purchase EVEN MORE titles and have complete access to ALL titles right from the start.

Our way of bringing similar-minded people together, pooling funds and sharing rare titles is without a doubt a WIN-WIN situation for everyone.

One Love, brudder.

Sorry, i misunderstood the 2 rules as well. It's all very simple and clear now. And i'm in full favor of these 3 rules. :bingo:

Rule #1: states very clearly how many titles we can afford to purchase this time round with our pooled money.

Rule #2: states clearly that we won't order titles based on just ONE vote. However we can propose the same title next round and if it gathers at least 2 votes AND WINS OUR SELECTION WITH ENOUGH VOTES, it will be purchased.

Rule #3: Newyorker, am i right to say that only a maximum of 5 titles will be purchased every round?

OK, we stick to our existing way of suggesting titles. All of us just post our suggested titles with picture and video link. And people will express interest. * Keep in mind each member has only 3 votes for 3 different titles. Members can decide for themselves if they want to vote 1, 2, 3 titles or no titles (if they like all titles!). Also, we can change our votes (eg. "Please shift my 1 vote for SND-28 to ICD-37.") when new titles are being suggested and you prefer that one more than your current selection.

Let's stick to a standard format of suggesting titles.

Here's an example i propose:

(1) PIC
(2) ACTRESS - DVD NUMBER
(3) VIDEO TRAILER AND ACTUAL DVD URL LINK

Example:
jacket.jpg

Chiharu Nakasaki (SND-17)
http://jams.kir.jp/works/SND-17/index.html

Hope this helps out our group. :goodboy:

Rule #3: Newyorker, am i right to say that only a maximum of 5 titles will be purchased every round?

You need about 7 or more joinings to order 5 titles normally (This time one title is donated).
Is it best to use up all funds just because there are titles with 2 votes?
The following time there might be less joinings and less funds available.

Additionally it's the first time to distribute 5 titles to 12 members at once.
I first wanna see how much work this is.
If it's easy it's OK but you never know, we'll see after this time.

I propose we stick to a maximum of 4 titles to be purchased every round. The leftover pooled funds be left to the next round (which is next month). This will ensure we have a constant supply every month. Also set a minimum criteria of 3 votes. But then again, what are the chances of a 2 or 3-vote title be chosen after all of us casted our votes? Unless only 4 members vote. So i think we dont have to worry about this. :)

It's my hope that we reach a minimum of 20 members. Then we can purchase 4 NEW titles (assuming US$150) EVERY MONTH with each of us just contributing USD$7.50 each! That would be amazing. Maybe we should also close our membership when we have 20 members too.... What do you guys think? :sadomaso:

Newyorker, could also let me know who are the new members so i can update the list and every member can say Konnichi-wa to each other?

This is looking great. Glad to our group is growing so much!

I know this thread is for rare big ass titles mainly, but i was just wondering if any of our members are interested in mainstream AV star Kei Megumi.

I'm quite crazy about her and i'd love to have at least one of her movies in ISO quality. (for me, it makes a huge difference over AVI encodes)

Collecting e-mail / hosting preference

PM can only be sent to 3 users.
Somebody sent me PM better not to distribute links through the site.
And I can't send info when this site is down, also it's often slow.
Thus I wanna send all info about the group order by e-mail instead of PM from now on.
I didn't make a list of the Paypal addresses and will never do that as they weren't for this purpose.

Could you send PM to me including your e-mail contact.
I pass the list of all contacts to Tiger33 that he can send his FTP info and the like.
We don't pass the contacts to anybody else.
I use Bcc (not Cc) and my e-mail provider doesn't seem to have a field in the e-mail header for Bcc.
This way the addresses aren't disclosed to the other members.
Though it's not free of human errors, so please use an unimportant second address.

Links for the titles of this vote might be available by tomorrow.
Up to now all file hosting sites had no dead link or any problem (I know of).
My FTP seems to be slow to Europe and OK to USA/Asia in general
but please try yourself and make multiple connections to test which number is fastest (up to 10 at the moment).
I hope that Tiger33 offers his FTP for the titles of this vote.

I will take the four initial titles offline again by tomorrow.
Who still hasn't got some title after tomorrow send PM to me (please state which file hosting site(s) you need for how long).

All members can send preferred file hosting sites to me.
Please send in the same PM together with your e-mail as a ranking like
1. Rapidshare
2. Hotfile
3. Megaupload
...(no matter how many)
If you are indifferent between some put it like
1. Rapidshare, Hotfile
3. Megaupload
I will use the most requested sites from now on.

(If you don't wanna use e-mail and state a reason why not I might consider something else for you.)
