It's probably not a good idea to discuss contingency plans so openly and brazenly, last post in this thread (for me) was an ignored user.

All the Milky Cat file sharers should pack up and set up "shop" on Freenet. :)
No DMCA notices there but it's painfully slow.
(not I don't mean leave akiba-online).

They even have message board softwares with "boards". Maybe make one called "MilkyCat".

BTW sorry if this is obvious, but I believe there is a law in japan that REQUIRES a producer or studio to enforce copyright protection and try to remove material.

I saw that post on Milky Cats website about Akiba-Online. Threats against a person's family over piracy is just the wrong thing to do and not cool.

Don't forget that Milky Cat has been threatening pirates for about as long as I can remember. They once posted the names of sites pirating their movies on their website. Not sure what good that did!

Milky Cat seems like the bad guy, but other studios are much worse.
At least they don't send out 1000 DMCA notices per day like some studios.

DMM can also send out takedown notices for dozens of studios if they wanted.
Pretty sure they use automated tools these days and don't verify crap.
They can even force you to remove...BOX COVERS!

There is one good thing about Milky Cat though..some of their titles are ridiculously cheap for a Gokkun title. We're talking like $30USD for an original.

They are one of the few studios to ship DVDs worldwide too.

I hope those shitheads from Milky Cat see this post. Dude seriously, FUCK MILKY CAT. That threat and invasion of privacy to whomever they were accusing is totally not cool and borderline criminal. Yeah ok, filesharing is illegal and whatever, but it's naive of them to think that they can put an end to it. And all that shit about "model's privacy, security issues, social and human rights, and protecting porn in Japan", I mean WTF? They need to get off their fucking high horse and just admit that they're salty cause people have been ripping them off. And rightly so for their own fucking fault. Sub-par quality work, unreasonable pricing strategy (VIP membership? GTFO please), and a website that looks like it was from the fucking 90s when people were still using Netscape and Yahoo. Honestly I have considered purchasing a membership and content from their site directly, but it just seemed to be a rip off (some people who have done so have confirmed it to be the case). If only they fixed those issues that they solely, are responsible for, some people might actually purchase their content legally. It's also naive and stupid of them to assume that everyone on this site just shares JAV illegally. Sure, probably many do, but there are also a lot of members who pay for content when appropriate and deserved. I myself have purchased content legit from Knights and DMM.

Sorry for the rant, but I'm mad as hell. I don't give too much of a shit about their content but they're now also depriving me of other content that I enjoy, all for their own selfish reasons.

I think Shirou has made it clear for years he is salty for people ripping him off. It's just business. Also, if it only was Milky-Cat why was Asfur and Knights Visual banned as well? Seems like he has backing from others.

hmmmmm....to be honest, I have been wondering when the porn police were going to come and take action. however, I feel like this should wake up the japanese porn industry into selling their dvds world wide. i know milky already does this, but asfur and knights...even if they raise the price a tad, it would be profitable for them. im curious to see where this takes us. ive been a huge knights visual fan for quite some time. i hope they open to all regions. i have no problem purchasing videos from them legally.

You can buy KV stuff from their website from overseas, it's not exclusive to Japan. And Asfur content you can get on R18.com, also available worldwide.

The KV and Asfur threads could've been taken down preemptively. There's no guarantee at the moment that they were behind this also.

If he was really serious about fighting JAV piracy, he should go after the JAV pirates in China, you know, the guys who put online casino ads at the beginning of each video. I'd really like to see him try, and I'm betting it would play out like some kind of comedy. Why go after small guys like us? This is like cops busting drug users instead of the cartels and kingpins who distribute. Absolutely fucking stupid.

I wouldn't consider akiba-online small. Yea China has pirates but, its china. Porn isn't legal to buy in china so it's not a legit market. This website though gets a lot of volume for JAV content. Also, I never seen a milky-cat torrent with a shitty yellow chinese watermark. Every pirated Milky-Cat movie I ever seen has been posted here originally.

JAV producers would see an uptick in legit sales if their web presence was expanded to allow non-Japanese consumers to EASILY and CONVENIENTLY sign up, select, pay for, and receive, videos. As an example, there is a certain three-letter studio in Germany who's ENGLISH version website is easy to follow, easy to sign up on, and easy to use. As such, they get foreign business that doesn't need to speak German. Japanese studios, listen up.

Wow, I've never seen a company specifically go after certain forums or uploaders in such a targeted way. I hope this inspires Milky to at least update their site and pricing structure to contemporary standards; otherwise, their site is just unusable.

good joke, they are going for those 90s geocities/tripod vibes - just needs more gifs of flaming text and they're gravy

lol @ desioner being made out as some grand anime villain though, my fucking sides

Not even needed, private trackers work fine considering most of the content from here end up on those anyway - and some that aren't even on akiba in the first place. Losing akiba as a platform to post the content is a matter of inconvenience, considering even the most unsavvy of individual can stumble on here via google - the content can exist elsewhere and be a lot more resilient, that shouldn't even be a concern.

The real loss is that desioner himself was targeted considering the service he provided. Regardless, with more west oriented outlets cropping up (cough) you can expect that content to get ripped and upped on trackers (hint; its already happening)

For reals, all the stuff you want, Milky Cat etc is out there, if you look hard enough on the web.

It's natural they're after the source. I'm surprised it's coming from the one company with a site that made eyes bleed and with obscure subscription management.
There's no evidence that piracy hurts sales, recent studies show the opposite. Those who are fighting the consumer are living in the past.

"There's no evidence that piracy hurts sales, recent studies show the opposite"

Specifically for adult content? If so, I'd really like to see these studies.

Remember, adult content generally is more of an impulse buy and has less replay value than an album or a regular movie.

I want to avoid the "home taping is killing media industry" debate. Right, those studies and reports are about music album sales, thats a topic people talk about. In the end it's all about making content with fair pricing and easily accessible to the customer.

Why do these topics have been closed or deleted?
I paid personally for ASW-153 and has been posted there for free download.
I also had to pay for the ASW-187.
What this is about?
