And I get a strong feeling this swing to the Right was minimally motivated from domestic concerns, about 1/3 of the article was devoted to the heading "Foreign perceptions" and previous reports also hint that foreign influence was the main motivation to go after anything (even centuries old Japanese tradition) sexual.

For the record, 3P is never ever accepted as harem, group sex, orgy, gangbang or reverse gangbang. For any of these labels to apply you need to have a bit of disconnection on emotional level, or some kind of unmanageability. As someone mentioned, 4p is actually workable, esp. 1F3M, she has three holes, there are 3 dicks, it can work. 1M3F gets a bit difficult, but the guy has a dick, a tongue and two hands, so 4P is at least potentially a "equilibrium" (i.e. everyone can be pleasured simultaneously).

So for a "standard" harem/reverse gangbang scene, I think 4 girls (5P) is the minimum. The key points are (1) the guy is so outnumbered he's lost control of his body and become dominated by the females, (2) tension and competition between the girls, on one hand the girls are collaborating to dominate the guy, on the other hand, there's not enough body parts on the guy to satisfy every girl at the same time. Esp. a male player has limited stamina (sperm) so a good harem vid should have the girls fighting over both the cock in erection state and also the ejaculation events.

SOD Create and Zukkon are pretty much the only studios that keep me interested in JAV (on average that is, sometimes there are a few exceptions from other studios like Moodyz)

What defines JAV for me above common Porn: the plot , imagination and production value.
Porn is dominated by Gonzo (wham bam thank you mam), and that's why I turned to JAV in the first place.
The combination of POV and imaginative plots (as outrageous as they may be) is brilliant in an age where we've been desensitized by the abundant availability of adult material.
Even with the annoying censors, it's still provides hellava higher entertainment value (and fappability) than what can be normally found in porn.
