Official press release. Mikami state that she will still maintain her AV star status in Japan while making Honey Popcorn a priority. I take it that she will cut her other overseas engagement and make Korea a primary market for now while still going on her regular monthly porn release.

Korean naysayers bash her by saying why turn to Korea when you can't even make it back home ?

and if she finds any form of sustained success with it i'm sure she would drop being an AV star

the naysayers have a good point

Full 1 hour showcase :-

There are people saying that this outing is a trip to satisfy Mikami's ego given how she is both a failed idol and a big fan of Korean pop culture.

And would the naysayers would have said such a thing if Mikami does not have a porn background given that TWICE had 3 Japanese members ? The YouTube comments in Korean speak as much with majority being "Go back to Japan. Don't taint our culture." As of time of this posting the approval ration of like to dislike of all their video is like 75% to 25%.

3 failed Japanese idols trying to get into the korean industry? would still probably be a lot of hate, and "don't taint our culture" comments, because if 3 failed Japanese idols can make it in Korea, then so many more would try

I still must question would the hate be as much if they're aren't in the porn trade ? Brushing their current day job aside, people are questioning why Mikami is trying to break into Korea when she doesn't speak a lick of Korean ? As it stands now, the ration of like to dislike ratings on YouTube is now approximately 55% to 45%.

there would always be hate, failed j-pop idols getting a debut in korea would always lead to hate

They are bashing "failed" j-pop idols but Yua was in AKB, not a big member, but she completed the audition at least. In those groups, it's almost impossible to shine by yourself as you don't have any control on your moves. Anyway, Knetizens also seem to forget all those groups created with former members of unsuccessful Kpop groups. If I'm not mistaken, they even have TV shows about it on Korean TV.

I posted a comment on their MV youtube page. I almost never add comments on Youtube, but this time, I wanted to.

she was in SKE48, and you can shine by yourself if you have something unique about yourself, many non big girls have shined in those 2 groups, and she's failed she was pretty much kicked out over multiple scandals.

The difference on the last part, is failed "kpop" if you fail within the system, then work your way back up then people will be fine, but failing in a different country then pretty much trying to invade another industry(and debuting)people are more likely to give it crap, add to the fact that they used there porn careers to launch themselves. No matter who it was if a failed J-pop idol tried to go to k-pop they'd be given shit

Finally! H-pop makes it to youtube. And fans, haters and on-the-fencers get to hear them speak Korean. It's a small step. Look personally speaking, I think the haters do have a point and don't count on them to go away.

Anyway why does that matter? Haters have never bring down an act or a group that deserves to make it. In real world, noisy haters often contribute to exposure and news coverage. The actual question is if they can attract enough fans. Just like AV, the debut/showcase can be a easy win but the second/third follow-up and keeping enough customers to break even, at least. They got 400+k views on their MV by now. Not bad for 1 day, but what would that number be if not for Yua's top JAV credentials? Maybe not even 1/10 of that.

Somehow I still question if she means it if she said " making Honey Popcorn a priority". Of course she has to say that, already there are opposition, can she say anything other than "I'm actually very serious about this". But in reality I think she is neither dumb nor pigheaded. She might do it as a half-hobby or a dare/challenge. She must know the chance of surviving in either k-pop or j-pop is slim to nothing. Sure doing AV may allow her to work on k-pop for 28 days a week. And I can even imagine her agency/studio to allow/encourage her to spend as little as one day a month on AV, if she keep getting exposure in k-pop and gossip media. I would be perfectly happy for that arrangement too. She does whatever she does, and I can get my monthly Yua porn fix.

Couple of positives on their debut so far: the costumes are fairly conservative, not selling skin; their Korean might be laughable (literally, check 0:38 on their 1-hr showcase) but ... correction, after watching a few more minutes, I can't say they have or have not learnt Korean. They have memorized a couple pre-package sentence in Korean, that's all we can see for now.

Why I remain pessimistic on their k-pop future. See for example 11:00 when the camera zooms out and you can compare the group members with the back-up dancers. The back-up dancers are much better dancers. And we already know their Korean is not good enough for singing professionally. So no singing, so-so dancing. What's left? Looks: one very pretty, one average pretty, one pretty ugly. Anything else? Yeah you can see them fucked or even r***ing, bondage in monthly AV.

Meanwhile Yua's SSNI-152 drop. It's another busty teacher gangrape vid by S1 (check -121, -126) and 2 out of 3 members of H-pop in r*** AV (check -149) during their K-pop showcase. IIRC this is Yua's first ever r***/humiliation AV. Compare to typical r*** AV, SSNI-152 is very plot-heavy, almost feel like a B-drama than an AV. Is Yua trying to distinguish herself from unusually many r*** vids S1 has been making? Honestly I don't like the result. If ever I enjoy a r*** AV it's those that are so unrealistic it is obviously a harmless fantasy. Having said that, I respect Yua only more because she keeps trying for more and higher challenges.

The only thing that is worthy of concern is the presidential petition that have exploded from 24,000 signatures to 35,000 signatures overnight as a sign of displeasure from the Koreans :-

https://www1.president.go.kr/petitions/162204

There are about 3 weeks more to hit it's target of 100,000. When it does, the people expect the government to step up and do something.

On my side, I decide to show my support for Mikami by purchasing her next release :-

No, I've seen more plot heavy stuffs with similar premises. However, like shoko r*** work, theirs are very tame and vanilla like with mostly one on one action with a bunch of background actors. I guess that's their perks as best sellers. Her next month unscripted one on one looks better. You got to respect her talents as an idol and also the fact that she manage to ignore all those haters shaming her. I guess she's too busy with practice, filming, and promoting to worry about anything else. Besides, she spent almost half her life idoling, so she knows how the popularity thing work and she still got a lot of bias sheep fans backing her with support. I wonder if it was her family that push her to audition because i dont think a lot of young girls are that passionate about become an idol at 13. Heard she's coming to anime matsuri at the end of the month and I wonder how respectful the fans would be knowing her occupation and the stereotypical non english speaking av idol showing up at one of the touchy con.

Ok... maybe I should have limit the scope to top studios and mainstream idols. I hardly ever watch Attacker vids so it's true I made some comments without thinking there are plenty low blow stuffs out there.

Nonetheless, Yua and most S1 (can add Moodyz, Prestige, but maybe not SOD) contract girls have a "top" persona to keep up and it's rare to see them get too UN-vanilla. Partly it's the "perks" partly it's that doing the low blow stuffs (even as mild as creampie) can affect their prestige/persona (and profitability).

As for respecting her talent. Same as r*** vid, compared to top JAV idols, I think SSNI-152 is pretty intense, compared to "real" r*** vids, she's very tame and vanilla. Her j/k-pop talents are awesome compared to top JAV idols, but amateurish compared to the idol industry. I've come to respect Shoko can play guitar for a real band (not a big hit band, but a band which dares to play live audio in public) but Yua has no place leading any j/k-pop group. Yua's song and dance reminds me of Akiho Yoshizawa's talent riding a unicycle. Amazing talent and hugely enhance enjoyment of a vid, but Akiho knows she shouldn't quit JAV to pursue a unicycling career (or join Cirque du Soleile) .

I wouldn't worry a thing about Blue House petition. A bird told me President Moon has some important meeting coming up, than to deal with a gimmicky performance that broke no law and no one has died from it.

Look I LOVE Yua Mikami, by definition I am not a hater. I wish her well in every way. But am I a naysayer? Yes. Do I understand/agree some of the criticism against her? Yes. Why does she go to unknown territory to break out? It's both admirable and stupid.

With social media, you can attract fans sure, or with fan events, but in this kind of groups, if a manager doesn't want to put you in the front row in MVs, you can't do anything about it. I don't follow the AKB world since maybe 2 or 3 years, but I remember that for example, in NMB, only Sayaka Yamamoto was able to start a solo career (she had a rock band during mid school if I remember well). Miyuki Watanabe was really popular, but then, there were a huge gap between the rest of the members.
On that scandal point I can't be more agree, she is the only one to blame.

Can't say much about their korean, I can only say "Hello", "really ?" and "I love you" haha (still it's a language I would like to learn after japanese).

About the back-up dancers, they are picked by the staff because they are good. They know how to keep a move smooth in a choreography. And I have to say that they are looking good with those white outfits.
For their korean, SNSD (and many other groups) did japanese versions of their songs, and I'm sure the majority didn't have a clue of what they were singing. I admit, the difference here is that they don't have an original version (in japanese).

Meanwhile Yua's SSNI-152 drop. It's another busty teacher gangrape vid by S1 (check -121, -126) and 2 out of 3 members of H-pop in r*** AV (check -149) during their K-pop showcase. I always skip those r*** movies. But every girl from S1 have to do it as it's part of their movie themes.

Like in my country, I wonder why people are still making petition. Except for good causes (animal protection for example), it never changed anything. It's like strikes.

thier song is equal or grade c+ in k pop standard . some people just dont have ears and have too much finger +too many keyboard .

The song is really fine. Far better from what I was expecting to be honest. I said it before somewhere else, but as a metalhead, I listen to very few Kpop groups because most of them have shitty songs (I like good melodies, something catchy). I tend to like "cute" groups, such as Lovelyz, Twice. My last discoveries are an idol pop/rock band (they can play their instrument), Marmello, and Dreamcatcher. Still, even with my "musical sense", Honey Popcorn's song is far from being a shitty song. I will probably not listen to it on a daily basis, but it isn't as bad as some song you can hear in the industry.

and as i said, if there's something unique about you then you don't have to be front and center, a lot of girls made names of themselves and weren't ever front and center, there uniqueness got them those opportunities, the issues with Yua is that besides her scandals, there was nothing unique about her, she was just another girl trying to be an idol.

it may not be that bad, it's really nothing special, and that's the issue it's just average, why should average japanese idols, get opportunities over k-pop ones? if the best they can do is just average/ok? it gets to the point of people questioning "why they are there?", and "did they fuck someone for this debut" Like i know most entertainment industries are fucked up, but this can be taken out as the most blatant "fucking for a job" thing out there, and average japanese girl, and two below average ones who all happen to be pornstars debut out of nowhere in korea

I was re thinking about some HKT girls and yep, there uniqueness got them opportunities (ie: the adorable Nako, "my" Haruka and Mio). They gain support and were able to join the main AKB units.
I only saw gravure photos of Yua when she was in SKE (probably her last year), so yeah she was clearly not standing out among all the girls.

I agree on that. Yua might like Kpop but nothing stops her to do it in Japan with japanese lyrics. Some japanese groups songs are similar to what you can hear in Kpop (I think E-girls do something similar).
According to the article shared by jwlim80, Yua financed the whole project (thanks to her porn success haha, same as her apartment). When you have the money, you can do a lot of thing and hire people to help you (ie: korean staff for the marketing).

There are Some decent twitter and instagram support for HP. Low quality video of anime matsuri live performance.
