How to create your own AV studio and become the director/actor in Japan?

I don't think it's as hopeless as everyone here seems to think. Just think of all the interracial that happens (the thread on here is a good indication that it happens a lot more than you'd think). In the end, it's all about money. If you've got enough, you can make it happen. Might be difficult, might not happen overnight, but if you set your mind to the task, you can do it. Although if, as others have indicated in this thread, you just want to have sex with a Japanese girl and film it you don't have to have a studio. I'm sure you can find girls who'll do it… again, for the right amount of money. So it's all up to you.

In the early 2000's there was a bukkake film I saw that had a Japanese guy and a white guy talking over the action in English. It was very odd, but seemed like he was part of the production. Around 2008, I saw some series that had this white guy with messed up teeth that seemed like he was producing; he was in the commercials at the end announcing products. Ring any bells for anyone?

In 2004, I came across an African American guy who was shooting films, but it seems he was working as a porn actor in Japan, but had something to do with production of films in America.

It's a lot more about who you know, rather than just your wallet. If you just start producing JAV in Japan, you will get stopped by the mafia and/or the cops at some point; this is true for any business there, really. So, if you were going to do it, you would want to have a legal expert on your side, as well as the OK (and protection?) from your local Yakuza.

Not necessarily more money for them, more money for the agents. These vultures often keep waaaaay more than 50% of the share. I heard it can even be up to 80%. Which in turn increases the cost of shooting, since agents will inflate the price whenever they can -- in a way, not that dissimilar to what you can find in football with the FIFA agents.
Agents are also a nightmare to deal with, I got the confirmation thanks to a foreign acquaintance (an American guy living in Osaka) who used to shoot AV in Japan -- for a small company called Arrows if my memory serves me well.

Now, if you make direct contacts with 'free models' via their online presence (FB, Twitter etc.) it's an entirely different story. The bubble burst, less money than in the past, lots of competition etc. I'm not saying it's easy, and one definitely must be able to read/write/speak Japanese, but it's more do-able.
Be polite, take time to introduce yourself and your project, ask them about their fees and start from there.

Anyway, on a personal level, I'm really not sure I would base a AV company in Japan nor release the videos on the Japanese market. Having to deal with the necessity to censor/mosaic the footage must be a time-consuming nightmare.
Actually, after discussing with a couple of Japanese models on Model Mayhem, it seems that some of them prefer when the footage is not released in Japan.
Go figure.

Talking from experience, the absence of a Japanese equivalent to Model Mayhem has always been a thorn in my side when trying to find models to practice my photo skills -- and I don't mean nudes here, even simple street portraits. It's like trying to find the proverbial needle in a haystack.

I've been lucky in the past, finding/being contacted by nice models on Mixi, Model Mayhem, or even through Facebook groups, but it would be so much easier to post a casting ad somewhere.

Anyway, to go back on tracks, one may also consider using the magic words when dealing with models/actresses : we'll shoot in Hawaii

Whatever business you do in Japan works out much better if you have a Japanese assistant/employee.
Apart from communication issues, or formal ways to do business that we can't quite grasp, some Japanese don't want to deal with foreigners.
Or, let's say, prefer to deal with other Japanese (depending on whether you see the glass as half empty or half full).

Anyway, whatever one's point of view on this matter, having an assistant do the 'dirty work' frees your time for other tasks.

Porn with Maxican/western actors but shot in JAV style, one girl per movie, maybe a debut and some escalation, focus on making her look great, interviews... That would be great, I'd watch that.

The main thing is just to get her into it so it's not just some guy grinding away and then jacking himself off at the end like most western porn.
