[Brief translation]
Uncensored studio Caribbean puts out a huge release schedule for this summer. But if you pay attention, most of them are rereleases or edited version of old vids. Only 立花瑠莉 Ruri Tachibana is a new vid.

We notice the watermark and trailing FBI warning notice of the new vid has changed. The watermark that used to read DPR now reads HBM and the notice is undersigned "Hoge Brug Media BV".

What happened was, Japan gov had been hitting uncensored industry and even got coordinated action from Taiwanese and American authorities. So a major producer decided to pick it up and move to the Netherlands. [It's rather unclear if only the company registration had moved or even business operations had moved to The Netherlands.]

The studio could also hire a few more and I believe it also depends on the skill of the makeup artist too.

The industry depends a lot on packaging, so it makes sense to pay more to the makeup artist. As pointed out in an earlier thread, a skilled one could make an average girl looks extraordinary on screen.

That's a bit disconnected from the table from before. A regular solo vid is 1 million yens and a celeb debut with Muteki only offers double? A promising debutante should get 5 millions according to the table, so a minor pop idol (***48) should get what? 8 millions?

That photo of her looks cute enough (costume) but it makes her look so "small time".

Age plays a role as well. The girl is a 31 year old. There's a limited market for older female.

more things about her, she was a solid sized gravure/bikini idol from 02-07,got breast reduction and was a weather woman, then joined the 48 universe in 09-12, and a few years after that she started a Gravure idol cafe which she still runs. So minor tv appearances, running her cafe, and not getting disowned by 48 universe is probably what's going to keep her away from JAV, and her cost is low because there's really not much left to see of her also

and there's a large market for older females

So "There's a limited market for older female." is the wrong phrase. I should have said "limited market for over the hill idol"

USD 45,000 is paid for the likes for Mikami and Takahashi's debut only because they are active idols in their prime and they are under contract to have a certain number of releases before they are free to give notice of retirement.

I'd also imagine that their wage falling to USD 9000 per title after their 3rd or 4th releases as the novelty wears off.

Today's topic talks about the industry's blacklist.

While it isn't surprise to see such a list existing for the more problematic talent, what is more interesting is the confirmation that more often than not, the girls that join the trade have their own personal issues despite appearing quite normal in public and a few of them have an inflated view of their self worth that lead to them falling out with their management and joining the list.

There also the fact that the industry is also unique in that the net worth of a girl usually tends to fall the longer she choose to stay on. Coupled with the inflated view of their self worth for some of them and you have a recent example of one veteran talent who throws a tantrum over her latest payout, even threaten to commit suicide. Her management eventually "retire" her by citing "health issues" in the official statement. Needless to say, her name had been blacklisted.

What I would love to see are statistics on movies purchased. 9000 USD Just for the actress + money for support and production makes for an expensive venture. Especially considering we live in an age where it is often said "its crazy.to buy porn when its free" (I'm crazy and buy porn). What is the ROI?

Game of thrones get episodes leaked early and pirated millions of times each year, but the official viewership ratings still goes up and they still make money. I assume there are merchandise and events that helps the profit in av too. A lot of people still go to av events and buy a lot of DVD. Physical and digital DVD sales alone are not the only way to make money anymore. China used to and always been one of the biggest on illegal downloads and bootleg, but these days even Hollywood depend on their box office. Also, some people that buys legally will always buy no matter what.

Still we don't have statistics on JAV Theres thousands of porn movies being made and there is less work to go around. It is my understanding the average payout of 9000 USD for an actress also is cut in half by their agency fees. The industry is feeling the squeeze more now than before. Yes theres more people watching this stuff but I don't believe there has been a net benefit between the boom in the early 2000s and the market crash in 2008 and now. I'm sure the successful studios are still profitable but thats because they have implemented pay cuts. And this is true because it is what has prompted several idols to retire. Lack of work and lower wages.

I believe niche porn is profitable because certain fetishes people have are hard to find so you have to buy it in many cases. But since we don't have any statistics to go off of its hard to prove anything in this industry.

At least we know the industry isn't dead since it still has all this infastructure with agencys and studios still attached to it.

Thanks to companies like mindgeek that have almost completely taken over western porn with tube sites many porn producers make less than they use to and with a consistent stream of young whores who grew up in an age of porn and are more open to it are willing to do things for less money since there isn't as much apprehension anymore. That cuts into overall actresses income.

I'm sure the big players still make a profit but the average jane and joe and little person in the industry is probably feeling the squeeze harder. And the younger actresses just don't know any better. Which may be a good thing in the end since if you can get a cute girl to do the nasty for less you can make more movies.

I am just very concerned with the production and quality of my favorite JAV genres bukkake and gokkun, and theres an argument to be made that the quantity and quality of those types of movies has been less compared to other decades. I don't think the current environment has helped that.

princeali692: you can assume the average big maker censored title starring a single actress (A-rank let's say) will cost around $10,000USD not counting money used for promotion.
Uncensored with larger names may cost more, but that's because the actress is paid more. Production costs sans actress pay is usually super low making for less staff members and lower perceived production values.

I agree that the US porn industry not dead but its gonna get worse and worse production and economic wise.
Production/plot: They are putting out the same crap for years not getting creative with it excluding the little guys like Clips4Sale and other sites like it.
Economic: Sites like Brazzers, Bang Bros (Still surprised they exist) and reality kings in the coming years will decline.

Now for the JAV industry its either gonna be the same or better in production and quality but, I hope that it gets more and more popular in the states thus forcing US companies to get competitive which each other.

It will be an exciting time to see who dominates the market place in America.
