JAV Stars in Non-JAV Roles (You know...the "actual" movies?)

Well...not actual actual movies. At least I don't think these got any type of Hollywood-style fanfare and wide release in Japan. OR...maybe they did! I don't live there and admittedly just wouldn't know. These are interesting (or at least proving to be) to watch, even though I have no subtitles to help figure out what's going on.

Have you spotted any of your favorite (or just any) JAV stars that have come out in what are surely just soft-core or even slightly theatrically released movies? Of course...these are probably simply direct-to-video releases. Most likely.

I don't know about movies, but SEGA's Beat 'em Up/RPG videogame series Yakuza has featured AV actresses ever since the second game.

Like, in the second game for the PS2 you could chat with Yuma Asami in a hostess club.

The hostess clubs are where most AV cameos happen throughout the series. Like, in the recent remake of the first game for PS4 you can meet Yui Hatano.

But Yakuza 0, the series' prequel set in the 80s, goes crazy and features around 30 adult actresses in the game, and this time they're all over the place. As sidequest characters, shop vendors, etc.

Like, there's a sidequest where you have to beat Ruka Kanae's OutRun highscore in the arcades.

You have to teach Ayu Sakurai how to act as a dominatrix.

You can recruit Hibiki Otsuki to work for your Cabaret Club, and she has her own sidequests.

Also, you can cheer her on while she's singing Karaoke in a silly rhythm minigame.

Other girls you can recruit for your Cabaret Club include Ai Uehara and Mana Sakura.

Ai is also one of the few AV actresses in the game who has fully voiced dialogue and she's hilariously bad.

Also, you can play pool with her.

Or challenge her to a disco dance battle. (At around the 2 minute mark.)

There's a subquest where you have to pretend to be Kokoa Aisu's boyfriend, to appease her overbearing father.

In another sidequest you gotta grab some fresh fish to save Nozomi Hazuki's sushi restaurant.

Huh indeed. Well, despite sharing their name and looks, these cameo characters aren't literally "Nozomi Hazuki, the AV actress" or "Ai Uehara, the AV actress", they're still playing fictional roles, most of the time completly removed from any adult entertainment stuff.

In any case, get Yakuza 0 if you haven't alrady. You also get to punch a whole lot of bad guys.

There's a Hong Kong movie that features AV actresses including Anri Okita, Kana Yume, Tsukasa Aoi and more.

It has a pretty high production value, and it's fun to watch as long as you don't take it too seriously. I recommend the movie, it's better than most comedies these days imo. You can find it online with English subtitles.

That's a good idea. Right now there are two games out on PS4 in the west, Yakuza 0, a prequel and Yakuza Kiwami, a remake of the first game. At this point, 0 is pretty much the best entry point for newcomers. It's the first game in the timeline, it's one of the best games in the series and it actually does a better job of introducing the main characters than the first game does. (Or it's remake for that matter, which is a bit low-budget and uneven in quality.) Also, like I said, 0 is really the only game in the series that features this many AV girls front and center.

Oh, and apart from the AV stuff, these games are also really fun to play, and the stories are great. It's basically a 3D arcade brawler with RPG elements, lots of minigames and heavy focus on story.

Edit: Oh, and by the way: I did say a lot of the cameos are in non-sexual roles, but nonetheless, if you finish a girl's sidequest in 0 you unlock a softcore video of her that you can watch in the video store, so they appear in flesh and blood as well, in the game.

The videos are pretty lame though to be honest. At least they fill your Heat gauge. (For special attacks.)

since the late 90s there are some JAV idols or ex JAV idols who performed in HongKong, Thailand and Indonesia, but I can't say those are real movies, as most are only B movies or softcore

Yui Tatsumi was played in Thai romatic drama, Sora Aoi and Maria Ozawa played indonesian comedy horror

In Korea, there are quite a lot, but unlike hk they're smaller budget and not really promoted or shown in theaters that often. Invitation only is from Taiwan featuring Maria Ozawa and sashimi featuring yui hatano with a Taiwanese film king which spread some scandal about her having an affair with him since she return to taiwan to see him and also she walk out of a hotel with an Chinese actor after filming a net drama with him. Maria ozawa also have some dirty rumors about escorting in roppongi or shibuya in the past before having an affair with phillipine royal and some local actors before she land her current job amd boyfriend. Kind of like how tsukasa Aoi and alice miyuki got caught dating Johnny's artists, but nothing serious since it's outside of japan, but fans might be upset or jealous. it's not like she got arrested for drugs like risa coda and aso nozomi. if you're not handsome or famous or rich then youll probably have no chance even ifnthey become old and forgotten. Getting off topic, Speaking of net drama, abematv also features a few late night drama that guest stars av idols like yua mikami and shoko.
Like av titles, there are a few series of Vcinemas feature sora Aoi as swindler and new debuts like rio, Aino, jessica, mihiro, tia etc in High school gang. A few av idols also appeared in futari ecchi live action and its net drama. These are all very niche with majority of the audience watching for their fav av idols acting and nude in softcore. It's different then what seems to be pretentious and artistic like flower and snakes.

A lot of these films are aim at targeting at their fans. Most trailers are on YouTube and some can be found with official English subs since they got oversea release and can be bought on amazon and other streaming services. Getafilm, dmm, and rakuten got their covers and screens if you search your idol Japanese name, which can be found on wiki. Their Japanese wiki got their full "acting" filmography under the av filmography along with some music video singles and variety show appearances.

You mentioned Korean softcore, make me remember years ago I shocked when I seen some famous 90s euro porn star including Anita Rinaldi performed in Korean softcore movies, very unfortunately i don't remember the tittle & never found those vids again
