my guess would be that it's becuase Japanese is a context heavy language with inflections. Not knowing the context like a human would might be why it gives you different results each time.

Surely that affects a lot, but it also happens with all languages. The AI does not translate literally, except for very short sentences, or set phrases like "How are you?" "Welcome home", and things like that.

It almost always changes the translation a bit even if you repeat the same text, it's like hiring different human translators... The meaning is the same but it uses synonymous words or expressions.

If you can't tell, does it matter?

Yesterday I was watching DSVR-1417 (thanks EnduraVR) at 8K, with the 100 Mbps version I bought at A Festa, and I ended up very pissed off. Not with the movie, which is quite good and I loved Mei Miyajima, but with... Fanza.

This movie at 100 Mbps looks AMAZING, AWESOME, SPECTACULAR. In PC VR with MSAA filtering and supersampling, it's real life definition. Like not wearing glasses, everything perfectly defined at short, medium and long distance.

And then you watch an 8K VR movie from Fanza at 15 or 20 Mbps... And it's like going back in time... Like watching a good 4K movie, but not much better. It looks good up close, but it starts to blur from half a meter.

With an 8K VR at 100 Mbps from A Festa, it's like watching the girl live, without glasses. With the 8K VR at 20 Mbps from Fanza, you still see video. Light years away from the definition that 100 Mbps gives you. It is true that the movies take up a lot, 52 GB this title, but for that I bought a 16 TB hard drive....

That's why I say that I ended up very pissed off. There are many 8K VR titles from Fanza that I liked a lot, movies from S1, Moodyz and IdeaPocket, and to think that at 15 Mbps they look like shit, and that at 100 Mbps they could look like in real life, pisses me off a lot...

It is very, very frustrating... You're right, in 2D it also happens... I don't watch much 2D JAV, practically only lesbian because doesn't exist in VR, and for example we are in 2024 and Bibian only releases titles at 1080p....

But it happens with everything... Netflix titles and so on look worse than a 4K Blu-ray.... Streaming has set us back years in image quality.... And it's going to get worse, because as more movies are released, the more space they need to store them all for streaming...

Unfortunately in VR everything is magnified, because you're watching a movie that covers your entire field of view... And the difference between a movie that looks real, and one that still looks like video, is very frustrating...

Disregard my earlier dismissal - turns out that PRVR-081 is a pretty solid collab. Akari Mitani certainly helps boost my enjoyment of the work.

Would love for higher bitrate releases, having experienced it on the non-JAVR side. I can look past it for now, especially as JAVR makes up for the middling quality in other areas, but there's room for improvement still.

I wonder what makes 100 Mbps JAVR file sizes so much larger than 83 Mbps Czechvr works. 52GB vs 16-30GB. Maybe the number and length of the scenes, now I think of it.

When did SOD starts releasing 8K Takumi version of their VRs on Afesta? I really love DSVR-1326, but when I check on Afesta, it only has the 4K (non-Takumi?) version. What's weird is Afesta version is 13GB while the version on torrent site is 17GB.

A Festa is an enigma: the 4K versions of SOD VR look worse than Fanza (download websites) and the 8K versions, infinitely better than Fanza (download sites). The title you mention is not at 8K. It's a shame that only 1 out of 10 titles that SOD VR is releasing, is 8K. In fact it's been a few weeks since it's released any....

The first SOD 8K VR was DSVR-1393 (november 2023). If you type "8K" in the search engine of A Festa, you get all their 8K movies, not many:



I don't know if the other studios are also at 100 Mbps but 8K SOD VR titles I think all of them. I've bought 4 titles, and they are all at 100 Mbps. The new one from Prestige too.

I wonder what makes 100 Mbps JAVR file sizes so much larger than 83 Mbps Czechvr works. 52GB vs 16-30GB.

I think it's the immersion, the realism, the feeling of being with the girls and the magic that Western porn doesn't have in VR....

Seriously, maybe they use another codec that compresses more....

It annoys me aswell that the quality can sometimes be dissapointing. I've been upscaling the titles I like the most to 4K and converting them to 60fps, using AI software. I've been doing it for a while now and the results are really good. It's mostly lesbian titles, and I'm processing them one by one when I have the time.


Sidenote;

Something about what you said made me recall some old titles from the early 2000's, they are in the vintage thread If you are curious.

Despite being SD 640x360 (I can't remember the exact resolution), they look better then many modern titles in HD. It's really wierd, quality should increase over time if anything, certainly not decrease.

If there's one girl I would really like to see start on VR this year, it would be S1's new girl Shirakami Erika.

Unlike most S1 girls, she actually has small breasts. But the thing that impresses me the most is that she actually looks like the cover photo. There was no need to touch up her face. She is just that naturally cute. She looks quite similar to Ichika but with a more innocent vibe. And her skin looks about as milky smooth as Kasui Jun.

S1 has a pretty good track record of introducing their girls to VR. Let's hope this happens sooner rather than later. I predict she will look amazing in it.

Thanks, It's one of the four 8K SOD VR titles I have. It is great, she is very cute. And the image quality at 100 Mbps is brutal.

Is this the same girl? I'm not sure, but she seems very similiar to me. She has a couple DSVR scenes under her belt. Anyway, even if she's just a lookalike you'll probably enjoy these scenes.

Edit: apparently she's called Amami Mea, but I'm still not sure if it's a different model. Hoping to see more VR of them either way

Have SMB set up in Heresphere now, so no longer restricted by onboard storage. Unsure of whether XBVR has utility just yet. Prefer the simple folder configuration of the hard drive as is without thumbnails. Maybe in the future to spruce up the collection.

She's cute too, but from their 2d screencaps, I think I like Erika rather more. Fairer more translucent skin, pert and perky breasts. Airi's looks like they're starting to droop despite being small. But we all have our own preferences. Airi's face also seems to look somewhat different from her cover shot

You are absolutely right. I haven't watched any movie of them, since as you know I only watch VR, and I spoke based on the covers of the movies. Big mistake, you can't rely on photoshopped photos....
