S1 has the worst 8K image quality of all JAV VR by far

I wasn't aware that they literally had the worst 8k image quality from the big studios. I thought Idea Pocket was even worse. But you are right from the few releases that I've compared they have the lowest bitrate, but not by much.

SOD VR making immersive and “normal” movies... How I miss 2020...

Must have been crazy times. A few years prior to 2020 4k wasn't even a thing. Then within a couple month: better image quality, better cameras, higher resolution, new and improved angles and all the studios producing vanilla content for the most part while more and more content is being released.

She filmed a VR with SOD VR in April. It's not at Akiba, I don't know why. Not bad, but the image quality is terrible:

Maybe check on it again if you think the image quality is horrible. For an 4k release it's not bad. The problem was that they released the first part in an unacceptable condition, something must have been wrong with it. But the other part should be fine.

Yes, Idea Pocket is on the same level as S1 in terms of mediocre 8K image quality. And I'm not just referring to the bitrate, personally I notice it at a glance, just watching the movies.

Unfortunately, the VR boom came when it looked the worst, those 2K VR movies people watched with Google Cardboard, or cell phones. They looked terrible, not only because of the movies but also because of the hardware. That's probably why many people abandoned VR, and it got a bad reputation.

I started in 2019, when all the studios were already editing in 4K. Back then VR movies were not very immersive, they were shot as if it was flat video, with the camera 1 or 2 meters away and very little interaction.

For me the great genius of modern VR is the director Yazawa Receive, he was the one who started shooting very immersive movies, with the camera very close, and invented the face-to-face missionary. Later other directors like ZAMPA and others imitated him. Today all the immersive films of Moodyz, S1, Kawaii, etc., are inspired by his work.
Unfortunately, companies like Aqua, Koala, SOD VR are going back to 2017, to the past, placing the camera far away, and with less interaction. Too bad.

Personally I don't mind if SOD keeps releasing titles like the first one, if they at least keeps making titles like the second one, which in the last few months they hadn't released any...

At this point I'm more surprised about that they release the vanilla debut VR . Tbf I don't mind it at all that they release niche content or have VRs with shemales and what not - to each their own - but you have to wonder about their strategy. Like the brand SOD, what does it even stand for at this point? Is it niche content, vanilla content, gay content or is it about you fucking the possessed girl that comes out of your TV from The Ring movie? I can't tell but what you also can't say about them is that they are boring or predictable. So let's see what they will come up with next time.

As I said before I don't care what they release, as long as they keep releasing vanilla content. In the last few months 90% of it has been niche content.

What does annoy me, and a lot, is that they put out stuff like that shemale title and other niche titles, and don't film any lesbian titles. If you want to become a niche company, well, you'll see, but at least make everybody happy...

The cast is absolutely perfect, all four are very attractive actresses. That would be a harem I would watch. The film looks great, one of the best HNVR has shot in years. And it lasts three hours!

Haha, why are you surprised? I'm not. NHVR has quite a history of harems - loli themed, for that matter. I don't have a lot of NHVR titles in my collection, but the few I have are pretty much mostly loli harems haha.

Here's a few that I would recommend.

NHVR-216: Ichii Yuuka, Iori Hinano, Fujita Kozue.
Outdoor sex, silly games, and quite a bit of time spent under their skirts for panty close-ups. Also, peeing scenes which I can't say I'm a fan of but for some reason I'm not inclined to skip past them either.


What I do find fun about this one is how you can be banging one girl and the other 2 are just casually doing something else in the background. I'm sure the ground is very interesting over there...


NHVR-174: Kuramoto Sumire, Kamino Hina, Aino Hinata.
OK, the bike shop scenes in this title are weird and can be annoying. Probably too much clothes for you not to mention the bike helmet. But there's 9 clips to this title and the last 4 are in a bedroom with the 3 stripping down completely so its good stuff. Just keep those 4 and delete the first 4.


But do hang on to the middle 5th clip for the novelty of it. Features the girls taking turns cycling on a stationary bike with fans underneath for the Marilyn Monroe effect. Not sure about you guys, but I certainly enjoy this sort of thing haha.


NHVR-149: Kudou Rara, Maeno Nana, Shinohara Rika.
About the same as NHVR-216 with a different set of girls.


NHVR-139: Abe Mikako, Nagase Yui, Momose Asuka
My favorite of the bunch simply cos of its stellar cast. This is an old clip and is only 1920p but is surprisingly very decent quality if you got the Takumi remastered version from Afesta. Sex with seifuku in the rooms, and than they're butt naked outdoors with you at the onsen. Fuck yes, this is literally my fantasy brought to VR. They are hot and horny for you also cos of the aphrodisiac theme which I don't normally like, but they don't overdo the acting here so its great.

Bought & watched the 8K version of KAVR-386. WOW, great movie if you like GFE with a young and unshaved girl. Kawakami Shizuku is awesome, a beautiful girl with a skin so white and transparent that even the veins show through... Flat chested, but with huge nipples that you can suck on.

There are five minutes that are a little uncomfortable, because she is really embarrassed, and it shows on her face. You will notice it when you see it. Then she pulls herself together and is quite comfortable and natural throughout the film.
Very immersive VR, with spectacular face-to-face scenes, although as is trending now, barely a few seconds of ass.
Recommended.

I guess you are right, my wording here was rather confusing. I said that I was suprised for two reasons: first I'm not into harems in general, it's not my kind of content and I almost never watch it. I would guess that over 90% maybe even 95% of what I watch is simply movies with one girl. Under certain cirumstances a threesome is fine as well if I like both girls and it's well made. But to me adding more girls to it becomes rather overwhelming or even stressful. Like the classic scenario if one girl is on top of you, two girls are sucking on your ear (you can't even see them/understand what they are saying for the most part) and some more girls are somewhere in the background/to the side and all of them are mouning/saying something inaudible I just ask myself 'what is even going on right now'/'were should I even look at or focus on'? So for me it is one of those examples were too much of the good stuff is actually too much. But I'm also aware that this kind of content is very much a favorite of many and it's often #1 on Fanza, so I'm most likely in the minority with that opinion.

When it comes to NHVR-223 specifically and as far as I can tell from the previews it is also not only harem. They most likely have several parts which is just a threesome and that is also what I'm primarily looking forward to in this release, especially with this cast.

The second reason that I said that I was suprised looking forward to it is the studio itself. The first thing that comes to my mind if I see their releases is 'too much clothes' and while that is true for many studios they are #1. What they are doing is simply clothing fetish, I'm not even joking. For example they are the only studio that have made VRs with Miko Kojima in 2024 (NHVR-219 and NHVR-224) and both releases are completely ruined to me for that reason.

Her beautiful body is almost 100% covered in both of them. As it seem this is also not an issue in NHVR-223. So overall to me a very unexpected win from Natural High if the previews can be trusted.

Here's a few that I would recommend.

What I agree on with you is that all of these movies have good casts. But from a technically standpoint they seem outdated to me but I'm also very particular about these things and I'm getting more and more used to 8k. These older NHVR releases had also that issue that they have a weird yellowish/greenish hue because of bad artificial indoor lighting that is really hard or even impossible to correct. Gives me VHS vipes and combined with the older cameras and resolution I can't get into that even if it was my kind of content. Also in many of these the angles are all wrong or the camera too far away. The best of these to me is NHVR-139, it's also not 1920p as you say, it's 'normal' 4k. It's the oldest but seems to have the best picture quality and has a particular great cast. It also helps that it's outdoors for the most part.

Very immersive film, with spectacular face-to-face scenes, although as is fashionable now, barely a few seconds of ass.
Recommended.

Awesome, looking forward to it. One of these cases were I was 100% certain it's great just from the trailer.

This week, as I commented further back, I have watched the VR of Kawakami Shizuku, and one old of Ishikawa Mio. Today, looking for new VRs, I came across this:

What I wanted to comment is that, before I switched to VR, I liked these types of movies. I was quite turned on by watching a young, pretty girl with an ugly, or fat, or old guy.

But after four years of watching VR porn, my perception of actresses has changed. VR portrays a more intimate relationship, a personal relationship with the actresses. 2D porn is a passive activity: you just watch a guy and a girl having sex, you are just a voyeur. But in VR you are the one having sex with the girl, it's an active action, or at least that's what your mind perceives, and that creates a more intimate bond with the actress. She talks to you, she kiss you, she makes love to you.

What I mean is that now I watch those movies, and they give me a strange feeling. I don't like to watch them anymore because there's a strange feeling of jealousy, cheating, it seems weird to me to see Mio with another man who is not me....

I know it's silly, but years ago we commented it here, and it happened to more people. Does it happen to you too? Do you have a strange feeling when you watch an actress you like a lot in VR, with other guys in a 2D movie?

I like that, but for the preliminaries. I don't mind if the girls have clothes on, if they take them off later. The problem with NHVR titles is that lately they wear clothes the whole movie, plus there are no face-to-face scenes. So I've lost interest.

can't remember but I did not buy this one. I only have one part of it and it's definitely 2048p. You can also find this release on several external sites.

Good question, no because I was never into watching the voyeur porn or what is simply considered standard porn. Seing the guy was always a huge turn off to me and I was always seeking the illusion of fucking the girl myself. Before JAV VR I was watching western VR, before that western POV porn and briefly also some JAV 2D POV. Finding good content with these restrictions was a challenge. So for me JAV VR is the only logical consequence, it's so far ahead in delivering that illusion compared to anything else on the market that I can't even imagining watching anything else anymore.

Is Aika Yumeno back? I think she retired a year ago but has a ?new? 2D movie upcoming (SONE-430). Fingers crossed for a new VR with her.

Well, you're a special case, you've never liked watching guys in porn. Me neither, but that's all there used to be.
But I remember talking about it with people a couple of years ago, and some of them said the same. That after being with an actress they really like in VR, they didn't like to see her with other guys in flat.

I see that now we're both in the same spot.... 2D movies don't interest me anymore, and western VR I've stopped watching it because it's not very immersive. I only watch some VRSpy stuff, their movies are the most immersive, but because their creator and director Alex Nash, has cloned many camera shots from JAV VR.

JAV VR is light years ahead of western VR in immersion, realism, beauty and naturalness of the actresses. I don't need anything else, I have accepted the censorship and it doesn't bother me. There are many things that excite me about Japanese VR, that are not in western VR

I don't know, but it would be a surprise. S1 has a surplus of actresses and is kicking out the older ones, that's why Kano Yura has also left.
I liked Aika Yumeno, I wouldn't mind if she came back. But I bet if it's new, it's a title she shot before she left, and they hadn't released yet.

I support doing different things in VR, where there are too many clones and most movies are too similar. I had always liked the weird SOD titles, but for the last year or two they have been too weird, not immersive, with too much clothes, or they use third rate actresses.

True I'm aware that in that sense I'm the outlier here. Most people on Akiba are like you and have joined this forum a long time ago (at least they are here much longer than me) and so they must have arrived to this place for very different reasons and JAV has not enough POV content that it could spark much interest. I'm aware that VRSpy is somewhat capable, they have a decent VR with Melody Marks from last year, it's called Hynosis and from the angles they use it's a 7/10 I would say which means it's a million times better than most other western VR. That combined with the picture quality and I would say it's actually pretty good. But they seemed very inconsistent. How is their content from 2024?

Seems to me that this is a Japanese thing for some reason. The nurse theme exists outside of JAV but not to this extent. But no idea, so far I wasn't inside a Japanese hospital. Maybe all the doctors and nurses there are young and attractive and run around in short skirts and flirt with the patience and no one ever dies in these hospitals. Who knows?

For me VRSpy is the most immersive western VR studio, but on the JAV VR scale, it barely makes 7/10, as you say.

Director Alex Nash (he films all VRSpy movies) is the one who place the camera closer, and his movies have some kissing, something almost non-existent in western VR. He also does good face-to-face missionaries, copying many angles from Japanese VRs:



But he fails in the face to face cowgirls, he always place the camera at the level of the tits, not the face as in JAV:




His movies have a big problem for me, I see the girls like giants, they look like NBA players. I don't like the way he adjusts the IPD to shoot.

As I say, I watch some of his movies if they shoot with an actress I like, but I don't remember anything too remarkable. 7/10, as you say. They are the only western VR movies I watch. The rest is just watching 3D TV.

On the contrary. The movies go through a review process and with the new Japanese law, a few months have to pass so that if the actress regrets it, she can ask that the movie not be marketed.

On average all JAV VR movies take about 6 months to be released, from the time they are shot.

It is possible. It's true that some of his recent work, even with the camera angles I like, has bored me. He's been shooting a lot of VR movies for many years, for virtually every studio. It's possible that he's already saturated, or tired of doing the same thing.

I think Alex Nash may have predated Yazawa Receive in getting to the close up missionary position shot. Nash's first video with the tight shot came out August 2020 while Yazawa SOD new angle video came out in December.
