JAV VR: News, comments about releases, recommendations, hardware

Hello @NaughtyProfessor , and welcome to the thread... :)

The scaling slider is the biggest quality of life improvement. If she looks magnified you can shrink her down to her usual petite life-like size.

I completely agree. Without HereSphere's scale adjustment for me many movies would be unwatchable.

I use Topaz Video AI to upscale and frame interpolate 4k content.
Curiously enough, I started testing a few days ago and I'm very happy with the results, to the point that I'm considering buying it, even though it's worth 300 euros / dollars...

Close to the camera and 'you' are taller than the girl and she looks up to you. I hate it when the girl leans down like you are some 8 year old or a midget or whatnot. Breaks the immersion and suprisingly even the premium studios/creators often shoot it like that.

Very true, that happens often and at VRKM they do it well.

How would you compare the quality of Topaz AI on 4k compared to the normal Fanza 8k release? And it seems expensive or is it possible to use the free version for the upscaling?

Thanks to @Tana_vak , who discovered it for me a few days ago when he posted it here on the thread, I have been testing Topaz Video AI for a few days with the free version and I AM SHOCKED.
The free version is full featured and lets you convert large videos, but it adds a huge watermark in the center of the screen. It's useless to watch, but it's good to see the improvements.
I'm testing rescaling 4K to 8K and it looks better than a Fanza 8K movie. Most important, it increases the definition, it increases the bitrate and removes the dirt from the image, you no longer see noise or blur in the middle distance. The key is to use little AI, if you overdo it, it looks artificial.

I'm doing crazy tests, with bitrate at 180 Mbps, and the difference with Fanza is brutal.

The problem is that a 4K/ 8K image is dozens of millions of pixels, 60 times per second, and requires a lot of hardware to process. With my RTX 4070 Ti Super and a powerful AI model like Artemis or Rhea one minute of video takes 1 hour to process. So a 25 minute scene, is a full day with the computer running at 100%. But to those of us who are sensitive to image glitches, like you and me, I tell you it's worth it.... It costs 300 euros / dollars with one year of updates, but I'm almost sure I'll buy it...
When I have some time I'll talk more about it.

@chewbaka , I've watched the trailer of SIVR-405 with Sakakibara Moe and it's another movie with giant girls and giant heads, like Ibuki and Rena's VRs... Another ruined movie... :(

So the newest Miru scene is pretty good, if you pretend the first two parts don't exist. The third part is a very immersive GFE scene with all the good angles, best I've seen of her in a while. I tried watching the threesome part, and its not that bad either, but fmm is just not my thing

True, I have also just tried it and it is mindblowing. I thought it would look fake or artifical but this tool is really a gamer changer and improves the video quality massivly. It can both enhance older 4k titles but also to my surprise it improves low bitrate 8k FANZA releases and they look so much better with the AI.

I will experiment more with this tool and see how it goes. But so far it looks incredible.

I haven't watched it yet, I'm waiting for someone to upload it to 8K. From the screenshots that third scene promises a lot. Unfortunately it's not a standalone scene, it looks like it continues from the previous ones and Miru is already naked. But well, that's something...

If you do it right and find the right point to the AI settings, raising them a little to improve but not too much so that the image does not look artificial, the AI is not noticeable and, in return, you get more definition and, above all, goodbye to noise and blurring of the image. VRs that were still video, now look like real image. That's the most brutal change for me, because that's the most important thing in VR. Now i see girls in front of me, not a 3D video.

The nice thing about Topaz is they let you OWN the version you have. You get free updates for one year on a license and then you keep which ever version you have forever until you renew your license. Unfortunately mine is two years out of date and mine crashes when I try to open 8k video as it wasn't fully supported at the time. Next time it goes on sale I'll renew. In the meantime, if I want to clean up 8k I have to first handbrake it down to 6k and then let'er rip.

Another app that I have been playing with on a trial basis is "Owl3d". It turns 2D content into stereoscopic 3D. It might breathe new life into my favorite 2D adult movies if I can watch them in 3D from time to time. But that's a whole other time eating rabbit hole. I've got my hands full with VR as it is.

I recently got a Quest 3 and bought Heresphere. It's an absolute game changer. I use Whirligig on my PC but it pales in comparison. Once you figure out how to use the Heresphere interface its all glory from there on. You can dial in each video just about perfectly. I love the autofocus feature. With that on, it doesn't matter if you tilt your head to the side. The scaling slider is the biggest quality of life improvement. If she looks magnified you can shrink her down to her usual petite life-like size. I love setting in-and-out points on the timeline bar and letting my favourite position or moment repeat until I finish. I've had some fun with the playback speed modifier. Sometimes I just want to slow her down a little and have a sensual moment. The augmented reality porn works amazing in the app. I didn't think I would like it because why do I care if I see her in my shitty apartment? Wrong! For whatever reason its completely mind blowing that she's right there in the room. It's so mind-bending. I hope Japan starts doing AR VR stuff soon. I am currently using SMB sharing to stream from my PC. I have a shared folder that I dump my videos into and then just stream them off the Quest. So far there is no issues streaming 8k @ 60FPS or 6k @ 90FPS. I use Topaz Video AI to upscale and frame interpolate 4k content. The 8K JAV stuff is usually fine as is. I'm turning into a wierdo. I kind of prefer VR to the real thing these days. Real women are going to have to start treating us a little better if they want our attention moving forward LOL.
for heresphere, can you manually re-orient the video? in 4XVR, I really like the feature where you can press the side thumb trigger and move the controller to easily reorient.

Also, 4XVR advertises the feature of being able to directly read from a usb drive, does heresphere have that ability?

Even adjusting with Heresphere doesn't help?

At least not for me. Using all my tricks to reduce the size, three or four options there are in Heresphere, and I still see Sakakibara Moe huge. It's what you were talking about with the other movies, as if they had applied a zoom... :(
It all depends on the IPD you have, I have a high IPD and I'm more sensitive to sizes, that's why I have to adjust most movies. Maybe you notice it less. But with these types of movies that look like they are zoomed in, there is no adjustment that works.... For me it breaks the immersion completely, to the point that I can't watch the movies..... :(

Yes, if you pull the front trigger and hold it you can rotate left/right, pan left/right, tilt up/down with your hand/wrist motion. If you push or pull the joystick forward or backward you move closer or farther. I'm sure there are other things but that's what I know so far. For advanced settings you can just pull up the menu with the B button and adjust in the UI. Heresphere remembers your settings for that clip you won't have to fiddle with it again.

I haven't tried using thumb drives. Maybe another user on here is more experienced than I am and can field that question.

Interesting, I haven’t found any tutorials on HereSphere. I only knew about repositioning the scene with the front trigger, so the zoom feature is good to know. Is there a way to mirror a scene so that what's on the left appears on the right and vice versa?

As far as I know, it does not exist. Out of curiosity... why do you want to do that?

Sakura Yuno has debuted in 2025 with Moodyz, and we already have her first VR... :) Cute girl with big natural tits. Although the movie doesn't last long, there seems to be quite a few varied positions.

@2dxxxisdead , It looks like Unfinished is slowly coming back from the Dark Side and they are releasing again the kind of movies we like.... :) These two show promise:

I haven't ever tried a free version so I don't know how it works. Its probably limited to a minute long if I had to guess based on other free trials I've seen. A few times a year Topaz has a half price sale so keep an eye out for that. Sign up for their newsletter on their site if you think you might be interested. As for upscaling quality from a 4k source vs 8k native releases it kind of depends on how good the sources are for both. If the 4k is a train wreck to start its probably not going to be as good. BUT, in most cases in my opinion it turns out better when you upscale it. A good upscale can remove noise, compression artifacts, aliasing, banding and halos from over sharpening. At the same time it boosts fine details. I frequently upscale my favourite clips. You can also do frame interpolation with Video AI to double or triple the frame rate. The older JAV releases in 29.97 FPS run smooth as butter when you interpolate them to 89.91 FPS. And this generates AI constructed in-between frames ENTIRELY FROM SCRATCH. It's not a frame blending trick. As much as I love Topaz Video AI, I would say only buy it if you have some movies that you really love but you are unhappy with the video quality. If your happy with what you got already than don't worry too much about it and just enjoy yourself. For me though I just kept getting movies that had artifacts in them that I find distracting. Even the ultra high-res videos sometimes have issues such as over-sharpening that make it feel less organic.

can you share the settings you use when upscaling?

edit: oops.. forget how to forum and didnt multi quote.

how do you usually adjust the scale?

I use three methods. From the most to the least recommended:

+ In Basic Video Settings, I activate the Alignement menu, and move the Right (Scale) bar to the left, as far as the eyes can take. Some movies I have to set to 2.7 or 3. This fix 99% of my problems.

Untitled 3.jpg

In Basic Video Settings, Origin menu, and Forward bar to the left. It's the zoom. Zoom everything out a bit to make it look smaller, but you see the girls farther away, of course....

Untitled 2.jpg

This should not be touched, use only in extreme cases where you see very large girls. In Advanced video settings, top left, set IPD to Manual, and set IPD higher than yours. With this the size of what you see is reduced.

Yes, the main flaw of this player is that it uses weird (or technical) names for simple things like zoom or scale...
