awesome application, thank u.

i wanna give suggestion, if u dont mind.
- adding cover, file location and title manually. because there some movies are not JAV, and we can use it without internet scanning from any website.
- adding animate zoom in or glossy when cursor on the cover, it makes more lux.

question

how to take this preview image to javluv description..?

I'm getting the hang of your program. First let me say it's fabulous simply because it works, automatically, like computer programs are supposed to! I had struggled with Javinizer which had WAY too many roadblocks, and I am by no means a noob. Definitly a power user.

Additions I'd like to see in Javluv are these :

- clickable content in the info panels - i.e. click a name of an actress and instantly jump to a search of all titles including her. This could be a toggleable on/off feature maybe, to still enable simple select/copy functionality

- export results to a Javlibrary/JavDB/etc account. This would be HUGE.

- ability to display and search contents of local folders. This would be another VERY big addition to file management.

- Would LOVE a "play random movie" button!!!!

Bugs to report:
- some labels seem to be unscannable, "SHE" label, for instance, seems to consistently report as unscrapable

Overall though I'm still very satisfied with your program! I've only catalogued a fraction of my collection - maybe 20% - and it already shows as 1,000+ titles. So once again thank you for making a program that actually works doing this!!

Glad you're getting the hang of it. JavLuv was inspired by Javanizer, in that I liked what it claimed it could do, but good lord almighty, a program should NOT be that difficult to set up and use. I wanted to make a simple program that you'd just install and use.

I can't make any promises about features, but I do consider all of them. For the moment, I'm focusing more on basic stability and ensuring current features work as advertised.

Could you post screenshots of what happens when you try to scan SHE label titles? Or better yet, go to Settings, and at the bottom there's a button to copy log files, If you post that zipped log file, I might be able to figure out what's going on.

Also, sounds like you have a lot more movies than I do (about 1800). Let me know if the performance holds up with that many files once you scan more than that.

You can add movies manually if you want. In Settings, there's an option Generate metadata if no online resources are found. Obviously, you'll have to fill in all information yourself. If a cover is not detected, or you want to change current cover, check Show advanced options in Settings. Then, if you right click on a thumbnail, you can select a cover. Alternatively, if you right click on a cover in the detail view, you can import a new cover image from any file as well.

I'm not sure what you mean by "animate zoom in or glossy when cursor is on the cover." Do you have an example you can point to or describe what you mean with this?

At the moment, JavLuv doesn't show preview images or scrape them from JavLibrary.com. However, if, when scanning, it notices images with "preview" (this can be changed in Settings) in the name, it will associate those images with your movie. I just haven't figured out a good way to utilize them yet.

The problem is that most preview images don't conform to that sort of horizontal strip format you point out, and instead look more like this. That is, they're more vertically-oriented. The online sites store them as a series of individual images, which I deemed too awkward to scrape and download individually.

I may eventually do something with them, but probably not quite yet.

Oh, yeah... Hrm... unfortunately, thinking about this a bit, JavLuv isn't really going to work all that well for non-JAV movies with the way it's currently written. It relies on a unique DVD-ID code for just about everything it does internally.

At some point, maybe I'll add a feature to allow non-JAV movies to get displayed as well. Technically speaking, the .nfo format I use is based off the Kodi standard, which supports different types of ID codes, but I'd have to do a lot of internal reworking to add support for that.

As an alternative hack, I suppose you could just give non-JAV movies their own made-up DVD-ID code. You'd have to embed it in their filenames or something, but that's kind of gross.

Sorry about that. I don't think there's really a good solution for doing that right now.

What JavLuv does very nicely is show the complete cover (front, back and center) on the movie details page, but just the front cover in the thumbnail view. The front cover is typically on the right side of the full cover image and JavLuv somehow almost always flawlessly captures the cover image to show on the thumbnail overview.

I do have the occasional movie where it doesn't work as expected. In those cases the back cover is shown in the thumbnail view even though the cover file has the front cover on the right as usual.

One example with an unexpected result (back cover in the thumbnail view) is STARS-230 (image from Javlibrary). It has the front cover on the right as usual, but displays the back cover in the thumbnail view. Is there a way for the user to correct this manually? I am also curious to know how JavLuv produces the cover image for the thumbnail view.

That's very odd. JavLuv actually just displays a resized image as a thumbnail, but right-justifies it and cuts off everything to the left via clipping. The resized image is stored locally in a cache for fast refreshing I can't even imagine why this would happen. I tried reproducing this, and got results as expected.

You might try right-clicking and rescanning files. Alternatively, you could delete the cover image, right click, and select Regenerate Metadata (you'll need to enable advanced options in settings), which should redownload the image. Essentially, I'm hoping you can force this to redraw properly.

Let me know if you continue to get bad results. I'll try to think of why this might be happening. Maybe I can approach the problem in a different way that would prevent this. Very strange...

Well, I'm glad the other bug you were seeing is fixed at least.

Edit: Looking a bit more closely... that thumbnail image isn't actually the same image as the cover. There are some small but noticeable discrepancies. For instance, look at the alignment of the kanji with the image in the lower left. I'm wondering if maybe a different title cover image somehow got cached (like maybe an image of just the back cover). That's literally the only way I can imagine this is happening. Anyhow, if that's the case, I think somehow forcing the cover image to refresh should probably work.

Nice application. Very easy to use. Some very large software companies should take note.

I have a request, or perhaps this feature already exists in the app? Could you keep the Japanese description instead of using the translated to English version? Perhaps the sites you gather the info from already has the English translation and you can't get the Japanese titles, but just thought I would ask.

Really appreciate your efforts as Javinizer was a lot of effort to install and use, and I didn't want to go through the hassle of installing it again.

Hi TmpGuy,

I'm very excited to use this application. You've put tremendous work into it.

I'm having an issue in getting the app to identify and scan the folder I keep my JAV in. The reason is I've hidden the entire drive the folder is on, using a registry hack (for reference, it's this hack: https://www.easeus.com/partition-manager-software/hide-drives-windows.html#4 )

Is it possible for you to provide a field that we can enter the path directly into, rather than just having a search function?

Thanks for reading.

I've tried re-scanning, deleting the cover image, regenerate metadata, deleting the video from the library altogether and re-importing it, deleted the local cache and between all these actions I have closed an re-opened JavLuv. Somewhere deep in the guts of JavLuv is this image cached and it won't budge. Do you have a suggestion how I could force a refresh of the image? I have been unsuccessful so far. As far as I can tell (I have a big library) this is the only movie where this has happened.

In the course of troubleshooting I did notice that the issue of re-scanning of 21 random files re-occurred. It only happens the first time a folder is re-added, on re-scanning the folder it doesn't happen again.

Thanks. "Easy to install and use" was at the top of my list, for my own sake as well.

As far as localizing the app and scraping Japanese (or Chinese, I suppose), two of the three websites I scrape are multi-lingual, so it's certainly possible. But keep in mind this is more a matter of choosing languages. so everything would be in Japanese instead of English, not in addition to, since the Kodi-compatible .nfo format really only supports a single language. That would probably make the program a lot more attractive for people fluent in Japanese or Chinese. But obviously, since this was originally for my own use, I was focusing first on English functionality.

I've actually been kicking this idea around for a while, but it's a lot of work, and I was initially adding features I'd find useful, or taking requests from the English-speaking users here. Realistically speaking, it probably won't happen for a while, but I'll put it on the official list as an eventual possibility.

Well, damn. And I still can't explain why your thumbnail's image looked different than the cover in a few subtle ways. Am I insane or do you see that too?

What happens if you delete the cache, then move a copy of just that movie to it's own folder, then scan it at that new location? I'm kind of wondering if there's some sort of collision or something weird happening with the image cache, and perhaps isolating this movie will let us know.

As far as the rescanning of the 21 files, that's to be expected after you delete the cache or remove and re-add them, since it's relying on the cache to avoid rescanning movies you already have. It was a quick and simple fix, as well as a pretty obvious speed optimization. At some point, I think I'm going to rewrite that file scanner entirely to try to make it more robust, but that's for a later date.

Guess what? I just opened JavLuv to take up your suggestion and move the movie to its own folder and noticed that the cover is now displaying correctly. So somewhere between all the things I have tried it worked - but I guess it needed one more re-start and a bit of time. I did indeed also notice that the cover appeared to look slightly different, so that made me question if JavLav perhaps scraped the front cover image separately from the complete cover. I now know this is not the case.

I have been using and messing about with JavLuv for a few months now, so it doesn't surprise me that this one little thing got somehow messed up. I haven't forgotten that you are just one person who has created this tool for yourself, has chosen to generously share it with us and is actively supporting and further developing it. Thanks again dude!

I speak and read Japanese, so it's better for me, but I totally understand the additional effort needed isn't worth it if not enough users are going to take advantage of it. It's a luxury and not mandatory, no rush.

It wasn't a problem of the app jus. It's was just alternate cover to this movie. Some STRAS film have it. For Web purposes probably.
https://jav.land/en/movie/jav4px4j94w.html It was this cover
instead of this https://www.javlibrary.com/en/?v=javli6zx5q.
It easy to fix this manually downloading proper cover.

try to rename the files with STARS-230,
or edit the picture manually with right click.

First off, I envy your Japanese fluency. Must be nice to be able to actually understand your favorite movies. After so many years of watching anime and JAV, I'm slowly gaining some spoken fluency, but I'm still at baby-talk levels. So I have to rely on the incredibly rare subtitles I have, many of which I translated myself from Chinese subtitles.

Anyhow, it's not like I haven't added features that don't personally benefit me before. I think it would be worthwhile to make JAV multilingual. It's more about my limited available time and the long list of features I'd like to add.
