I think I found out the reason why my Javluv app crashed everytime I open my specific movie. It was because of 1 of the actress info. I did this check by writing one by one the actresses mentioned in the movie manually until I got a crash at a certain input of an actress. When I go to the Actress Browser Tab, I just realized that the Tab itself is crashing without any info, just mentioning from windows that the app has stopped working. I didn't realize this until now, it was working before the last scan. So then I go to the actress xml, checked the info on that specified actress and try to change the image index from 1 to 0.

I restart the app, the Actress Browser Tab is working normal again. Then I manually add the actress to the movie mentioned before, and it worked normally without any error. I check the actress and found that the image of the actress only 1 available. I don't know why that happened, maybe the actress had 2 image to select and I select the second one. But then there is an update on the actress and the second image is deleted. That's my thought, but I don't know.
This is just an information from me, I hope this is usefull for the improvement of the app.

I think I was right, I had merged the actress info, and then error happened because the image is deleted. This is the part of the log.

Ive had the issue also where the Cover art shows in thumbnail view but when I click the movie is says pix missing in large view.

I have also had another issues Say I type in HAVD as a search. So lets say I start with the first movie in the list so I click it and then I decided to flick through the actresses to see If I know any of them, I dont so I decide to go to another title say HAVD-005 and I do the same with the Actresses but this time when I flick through the actresses and press back, I go back to go to movie view, I cannot move forward to the next HAVD movie lets say HAVD-006.

To Reproduce.

Type a sequence with a lot of movies like HAVD and search.
Now go to the first movie and click it to enlarge. Click on a actress and scroll through a few actresses and then press the back button.
Now from Enlarge movie view, the Forward Movie or Previous movie does not work and therefor you have to press back losing where you was up to if you are going through movies 1 by 1 to asset, watch or review.

Yeah, I'll take a look. I haven't seen any issues with large numbers of actress' names. For example, one of my movies has this ridiculously huge actress list (and that's just about half of them):

Ive just tried that on mine as I have it. WoW. That is a lot of actresses. I had to scroll a fair few times but all seem to be showing.

I'm on the latest, v3.2.7. The v2 -> v3 upgrade has been pretty rocky in terms of stability, but Topaz has been pretty consistent with regular bug-fixes, so it's finally getting relatively usable.

Also, not sure why I didn't think of it before, but I've also started changing my upscales to 60fps as well. I don't seem to notice the difference as much as some people, but I do think it further improves the upscale quality a bit, so why not.

P.S. Thx also for JavLuv error reports everyone. Will dig into this and see what I can when I get a chance.

Agreed, that needs some improving. Depending on options, JavLuv should either give you an error or pop up a replacement confirmation dialog when it notices a duplicate. In terms of the duplicate error, I'd like to revisit that so it's clearer what is happening. And I'd like to create a custom "overwrite" dialog that more clearly shows the differences between the two movies, so you can choose to replace the current movie with the new one.

Yeah Ive been doing FPS upscales a while. Used to do them with vids that were 15 to 30 back in the day or Variable frame rate. I have very sensitive eyes to fps changes and I even convert movies to 60 before I watch them now.

But let me just say that Topaz is slow on mine. Do movies upscaled from say 640x480 to 1080p as it looks better than 2xrez but doing 60 for me from topaz is just really slow but it produces great results. I split my movies to 10 min segments then do each one and re-assemble.

I use Hybrid to then do the 60 FPS because the Topaz method is to slow on my 5 year old GPU. Getting another when the prices stabilise better.

Hybrid is free and easy to use and does an excellent job but re-encoding twice is a pain because of loss of definition we just added but It does work and faster but I only do the old movies I love as its a little time consuming. In the future, it will be glorious

I setting up a second comp with 2 1070ti's in so that can crunch at them.

Im doing VICD-028 upscale atm and when its done ill upload it.

In my situation at the moment, I cant use the feature because I have sometimes a few version like my 60fps versions and upscales and so if Javluv only assesses file size then ofc it would delete my original for the bigger version. I wouldn't really use the feature but just thought I would point that one out.

Yeah, JavLuv doesn't replace anything automatically for exactly that reason. As for me, I store off the originals elsewhere on my drive, and only keep the best version in my normal collection. I really only want to view my upscales, but like to keep the original in case technology improves and I can make a better version, etc.

Actually, you can tell JavLuv to recognize a specific pattern like "(original)" or something (this is in the Settings), and it'll classify that as an "extra" movie. That feature is mostly used for trailers, behind-the-scenes or outtakes, etc. It won't show up to play, but JavLuv will keep track of those files.

Cant wait till it improves. I may throw my 2 1070ti's in and a 2080 super. You can mix and match even vendors so it says on the site. My MB has 3 x16 slots so should work fine.

I know this may have been discussed before, but I thought I could just copy my "actresses" folder from my main machine (with my customized images) and paste them into a networked computer running Javluv. But when I did this, all I got was a bunch of empty slots in the Actress tab. Is it not that simple? I see that the file names seem to be randomly generated? So perhaps the files wont just overwrite correctly? I'd love to have my same custom actress images on my networked machine.

One more thing - when scanning network folders for the new Javluv install on a new laptop, I'm getting these pop-up windows asking me if I want to import a new version of a duplicate file, including the video resolution size of both videos. I thought this was an option that had to be enabled for this to happen, and I have it disabled. Is this something new? Or a bug? Thanks.

It is expensive. There's other means of obtaining it but depends how you feel on that. Ive just put 2 3GFX cards in so ill keep you posted on performance.

Edit: I used 1 1070 and 1 1070Ti so mixing cards works, no SLI bridge needed gonna put my 2080 in tomorrow. It double the processed frames which is expected. I got 4fps @ a upscale of 480p@29fps to 1080p with kept aspect ratio and @60fps and the fps change is flawless so far. Ive been using it for small scenes so far like 20 mins and while it takes a while, if you have lots of old content you love then it just makes it look like you've never seen before. 8/10 so far imo.

It may seem slow but you can do 2 x resolution instead of 1080p and other things to increase fps. Best to experiment but to me its allowed me to watch my old Jav in a clarity I've never seen and also it seems to improve how bad the old censorship blur was which is a huge plus

You need to copy both the Actresses folder and Actresses.xml, which is what actually references those filenames.

Yes, the option is in the Scan Movies dialog, called "Auto import movies of similar or better quality" If this isn't checked, it's supposed to just give errors when it finds duplicates. If that's not working correctly, it's a bug and needs fixing.

I'm having an issue with renaming a movie file name again, and ultimately having it disappear entirely from my library view. Also I'm under the impression that the actress naming engine has been improved? But I still have tons of nonsense names that need cleaning up.

Is it possible to delete the databases and rescan from scratch? It used to be doable but that functionality has een removed, I take it? Would rescanning from scratch even be advisable/would it correct some issues, i.e. misnamed movies and/or actresses?

Not at the moment. I've got a feature request to hide these items for a "clean" folder. Hopefully someday I'll get to some of these tasks and improvements.
