this app is helpful, but maybe we need database in folder pack and downloadable, so we can download latest cover and description faster than direct download to sites.
thank you.
Glad you find it useful.

Although, the only practical way I know of to retrieve movie covers and descriptions is to scrape them from online sites like javlibrary.com and javdatabase.com, since I'm not aware of an all-encompassing downloadable database of JAV movies. And even then, keeping it up-to-date with all the latest releases seems rather problematic at best.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're asking for, or what issues you're running into?

amazing apps, big props. is there a way to manually include movies that werent detected by the software?

Also is there a way to use the metadata javluv gave the movies within its own library in another software that has the capability to search thru genres and etc if the movie has its own meta data? im not sure

Thanks! In Settings, there's an option near the top "Generate metadata from local files if online resource is not found" which is off by default. Check that, then use the Scan Movies option again, and those movies should be added. You'll then have to edit the metadata yourself.

As far as searching, JavLuv has decent searching capabilities, and will search through title, actress names, genres, and a few other fields. Just try typing in what you're looking for. If you're wanting to search for something in your movie collection but can't figure out how to do it, let me know. I've already added some sorting and search capabilities based on user feedback.

The metadata format is actually Kodi compatible and is stored in external .nfo files next to the movies themselves, so there should be some other programs like that and Javinizer that could potentially search or use the metadata, although I haven't tried this myself. The format itself is well-documented XML/text, so you don't have to worry about that data getting locked into a proprietary format or anything.

Did you know that JavLuv can concatenate movies split into multiple parts? This occurred with JAV movies often enough I added this functionality to JavLuv for my own convenience.

Just click "Concatenate movies..," then select the movie parts to join, and click "Concatenate". Wait a few minutes, and you've got a single movie file.

The latest version of JavLuv already supports this. I always update the first post in this thread with the latest links, so you can download it from there.

You can also auto-rename your collection using actress name as a parameter, like making a folder for each actress, etc..

This is even better than I expected. The Play button feature is simply amazing.

Just one doubt. When I scan the files... is there a way to select the folder so it gets scanned from time to time? Like music players do. You select some folders where you have the music and the program checks if there's something new when you initialize it. If not I imagine I have to do it manually.

Scanning can only be done manually. However, the program does remember which folder you scanned last, so it should be a fairly painless process to quick re-scan when you have new movies.

I'll give some thought as to how automatic scanning might work, but no promises.

Fun Javluv facts:

Did you know that JavLuv can use JAV titles when automatically renaming / organizing your collection? But it tries to be a bit smarter than your average bear JAV Organizer in several ways.

First, there are a number of "illegal" characters that can't be used in folder or file names, like double quotes, question marks, slashes, etc. JavLuv handles this by substituting look-alike Unicode equivalents to these otherwise illegal characters, which are legal paths for Windows

Second, you probably don't want your title-based paths to exceed the legal length for many filesystems. JavLuv handles this by allowing you to specify only the first x characters before cutting off the title with a single-character ellipse, which is applied at an appropriate word break.

So, say you want your folder name to show the movie ID and title. Instead of using the full title, which may be ridiculously long like:

When My Dad Got Remarried, My New Stepsister Turned Out To Be My Classmate, Who I Hate So Much, I Fight With Her Every Day. We Didn't Want To Make Our Parents Worry, So We Started Keeping Our Voices Down To A Whisper When We Fought. A New Sensation Lesbian Battle, Filled With Moans Of Pleasure And Endurance 2

...you can instead end up with a folder like this:

[RCTS-017] When My Dad Got Remarried, My New Stepsister Turned Out To Be My Classmate, Who…

Hi @TmpGuy , can I use JavLuv just for renaming the files and to create .nfo files without moving them to folders? Thx

I'll have to double-check, but I don't think that would work at the moment. Renaming/moving is kind of an all-or-nothing deal right now.

What sort of folder structure do you use? Is it something you think JavLuv might be able to reproduce, or is it too customized?

Regardless, I think that would be a nice option to have. Let me put that on the to-do list, and I'll investigate how tricky it would be to do file-only renaming for the next release.

I organize my folders based on the actor --say one folder for Aizawa Minami, anither folder for Mikami Yua. All videos, posters and nfo files are flat in each of the folders --i.e. no sub folders. The files are named as "<id> (actor) [date] <title>". Thanks!

Looking forward to having a play this week(end) and doing a mass pull to .nfo files.

I did get Jellyfin installed in a Docker cabinet on the NAS in preparation and I'm honestly shocked just how well it coped with importing my library by itself with all metadata sources turned off.

Android JF client installed on my phone and working on the local network using external player (MX Player). Subtitles work.

Exciting stuff!

JavLuv can get pretty close to this. Two caveats: JavLuv only has a YEAR field, not full date. Not sure if that matters to you. The other issue is that JavLuv stores and displays actress name in Western name order (given family) instead of traditional Japanese ordering (family given).

I've been waiting to see if someone would request an option to switch the display of name order to Japanese before I went through the work of adding this as a feature.

For movies with multiple actresses:
I've attempted to deal with this by allowing the user to specify the maximum number of actresses they wish to list, beyond which all movies are placed under a common folder. The default is 1, so if you specify {ACTRESS} in your path, any title with more than one actress goes into a folder named "(2 or more actresses)". If you specify a higher value like {ACTRESS 3}, you might see a folder like "Kotone Suzumiya, Miwako Yamamoto, & Reiko Kobayakawa". Naturally, picking a number too large seems somewhat impractical, so I'd advise against that. I'm expecting most people will stick to 1 or 2 max.

That is quite good already. Would you re-share the latest version for download --the previous links have expired. Thanks
