What's your preferred orgy configuration? I think 4M4F is a basic configuration. 3F is a minimal for an orgy, 2F doesn't even quality as just a basic 3P (MFF) or 4P (double date), .
A bigger orgy may be better, or not. My second post was a 6M6F configuration, it's grand, and it took a lot of smart directing (careful scripting is needed). Then you have the extreme (?) like AVOP last year winner AVOP-119, RKI-218 (8M13F), RKI-318 (10M18F ) (see posted by Supmop). Even with 17 hours of video to spread out the players it still seems too much too many. IMHO any one title should be capped at 150 minutes, any longer than that, better to break up into multiple titles (Parts 1, 2, etc). Even LOTR and Hobbits, at around 4 hours per movie, was too exhausting (sorry that's a non-AV rant). For an orgy vid, my own opinion it should be 90-150 minutes long of one scene (but with rests or breaks). And the number of players for this one scene should be between 7P (3M4F) minimum to say 15P at an extreme stretch.
Then room-to-room is a well known technique (especially for ZUKO), room-to-room (r2r) gets lots of performers in the vid but keep any one scene manageable (otherwise, the screen is crowded with too many sex-ing couples each). I am somehow ambivalent about r2r, with the changing of room/scene/actors, there's some chance I'll get to a screne I like. But r2r reminds me too much I'm a passive audience getting a whirlwind tour of other people having a fuckfest. Often r2r takes me away from the middle of some intense action, making me feel helpless and not in control. Not what I want in orgy vid.
And then what's your pref on M/F ratio? 1:1 is the basic configuration (say 4-by-4) but unbalanced add an interesting tension. I forgot it was Story of O or Emmanuelle that has that theory that sex should ALWAYS be odd numbers: 1P, 3P, 5P etc. If it's even number, it's too easy to pair off and get off. It helps a lot to keep swapping partners. Or have irregular breaks by one player and create temporary mis-balance.
If the males outnumber the females, than we get a gangbang-in-an-orgy which is pretty awesome, it's rare but ZUKO-109 had that going during the first half. If the females outnumber, then we get a harem-in-orgy, which is also awesome. But a natural asymmetry is each female has two or three holes that need filling but each male has only one good appendage. So an MMF DP is more natural/intense than a MFF threesome,
