QUESTIONS TIME!

- what is the "fest" in asakusa about? (i could google it but it serves me to introduce my next one)

- where in the hell can i buy the mascotte of that fest (it's the doll in my third pic, and yeah, it's just a slightly modernized kokeshi)? i swear i tried every shop in the area!

- what's the deal with the red light street in ueno? i doubt one could get real sex there, so what is it with that street? lap dance? strip tease?

Not sure, there are lots of festivals that take place in Asakusa. One just two nights ago was the 'Hotaru' festival where the city releases thousands and thousands of LED-powered orbs into the river which are carried down a few kilometers and make for a gorgeous lights display.

As for that mascott, she is 'Azu-chan', the city mascot of Azumabashi in Sumida-city across the river from Asakusa.

Lastly, the 'red light' street in Ueno -is- for strip-clubs and sex-clubs. Great if you like Chinese sex-slaves that are too indebted to the mafia to go back home.
