What is with Tokyo and blue lighting during the winter holidays? Like, I really want to know if it's symbolic of something or if it's just a coincidence. And don't give me any of that "I heard they're using blue lights on the subways now to lessen the incidence of suicides" stuff! That's a new development, and the blue lights thing has been going on for about a decade now at least.
In other news, holy shit I feel old, I can't believe Love Hina came out about a decade ago. @_@

I'll try to answer the questions...
The blue lights are considered to be romantic, so says my receptionist. The multi-colored lights of North America and Europe are a happy-happy family type of lighting. Don't forget that Christmas in Japan is for couples, not family togetherness. As for blue lights on the subways, I haven't seen any yet but I'll let you know if I spot them around Yokohama and Tokyo.
