NOW this is the apartment we chose - an upgrade from 38sq/m to 58sq/m, a drop in price, a better view and a more central location (10 mins to Asakusa stn. rather than 14 minutes to Iriya stn.)

Nice pictures. If the lady in the apartment pictures is your girlfriend she is too cute for you. I love these pictures of Japan, it is not the tourist shit. I look at these and you might as well be living on Mars. Seeing the pictures of the places, food, products and such really brings a new dimension to the word foreign. Makes me want to visit Japan all the more.

One thing bothers me about the apartment pictures...where is the toilet? Also I am glad I do not have to help you move, (although I would, I just would not live through it. The stairs would be killer. I wonder if they have a freight elevator?).

Bondage magazine? Can you re-post the image for me? Or are you referring the book I put up? I will sell it to you but I won't scan it for you since I went out and BOUGHT it. If you want it, you can buy it from me OR if you really really want a digital copy, you can pay me to scan it for you and then I will consider it sold and destroy it (garbage).

Geez, Ceewan, where is the love? I mean, the guy's taking on a new, more expensive apartment AND he's just shaved off his goatee. That's a lotta stress and uncertainty...was it me or was it the goatee?...for a guy to handle.

But the pictures are great, aren't they? It's a cliche of speech but they truly are a window into another world; not so unlike any of the ones we each live in elsewhere yet one with it's own distinct cultural patterns, language, habits and traditions, foods (mmm-mmmm!), art, architecture...all the things that Aqua, with his trusty Nikons and keen foreigner's eye for the details a native Japanese photographer would probably pass-by, captures and brings to us.

One question for Aquamarine: would I be correct in assuming that down on the 3rd floor the apartments have much less sunlight and are, oh, say, about 40% more expensive and appear to be--this is just a guess-timate based on a comparison of the photos-- about 64 sq/m compared to the one you chose that looks to be--again, just an educated guess--roughly 58 sq/m?

Yep, the one on the 3rd floor has more floor space, also less sunlight (due to the taller buildings behind it) but is also on the back of the building facing away from the major street which means it is incredibly quiet. The new place faces Kokusai-dori which is going to be a pain to get adjusted to and is fucking loud. Oh well.

The tatami room is going to be my little home studio so when I'm too lazy to go to work, I can just say "come over here instead".

These used to stand up very very tall.

In this image, I was helping chaperon a kindergarten group (of Nen-Sho - so that's 4 year olds) to this park. This was also the day of the big earthquake. We arrived around 10:20am and left at about 1:30 in the afternoon after lunch and playing around the playground area. I spoke with one of the teachers a week later and she broke down in my arms saying that the park was now underwater due to a flood of water (not from the tsunami, but through a flood of a river that flows through one side of the park). If we would have stayed later in the day, odds are we may have lost some of the children.
