Happy New Year all!

I'm still struggling with Whisper. I did actually get the collab version (although I would prefer a stand alone version but I'm not a coder) to run but the on-screen transcription was in Japanese (I think) not English, After about 30 mins into the movie's audio file, the transcription keep repeating ( I think I should have specified Large instead of the Medium) , and I couldn't figure out how to download the output.; however there were no error messages. I'm hoping some of you Whisper gurus might have an answer of these problems. My apologies for annoying the coders out there. Anyway any help would be appreciated.

The output should automatically go into your download folder. If not, there should be an error message in the script.

Here is a new upload --I can not restore the old link. Please use this new link:

And. here is an updated excel that shows missing (or name missmatched) subs:
Thank you for sharing such a great resource and for re-uploading it.
Quick question:
When the new link goes down again, would you feel ok if I uploaded it to a different file-share service and shared it with fellow board members who may request it? ( I could post it to the public board, or send it via DM.)
Let me know if I'd have your blessing to do something like that, and any related thoughts you might care to share.

She is indeed a good friend. I have female friends like that. 2 of them are sex buds, but all of them are good. It's funny, because this afternoon I'm treating one to lunch/dinner. We do this always. One buy or treats:)
Anywayyyyyssss....

You have the right to be pissed. People can be ass**** no doubt.
And before someone say, " oh well that's to be expected... or whatever. It still doesn't make it right.
As you know, that's why I don't share my full subs anymore unless it's people I trust.

Again you have the right to be piss. Subbing is hard enough, but to actually take someone ideas and put your name on it... is an actual crime called plagiarism.
If you were writing a book/novel/thesis and did an excerpt, legally that person might be liable and could be sued.

I certainly use subs and might clean them...BUT I have NEVER taken credit and always give credit to the original author if I can.
And as many kinky ladies as there are out there, the ones who will watch Japanese porn (much less the type of Mom-Son incest porn I prefer) are few and far between. Trust me, she's a great friend and because she is such a rare find, I do everything in my power to show that appreciation to her. As a result, she's told many people that I'm one of the best friends she's ever had. She trusts me with everything and visa versa. I'm a lucky man.

little suggestion for using the colab whisper :
1. convert video to mp3 using Pazera MP4 to MP3 with audio setting like this :
  • checklist lowpass filter 16000 Hz
  • volume + 3.00x
2. upload the mp3 file to google drive
3. open the link using chrome
4. setting the chrome to automatically download file to some folder on our pc
5. mount google drive to the whisper google colab (faster upload and automatically download srt to our google drive)
6. find stop-cursing-colab-master ahk

(A simple AHK script to keep Google Colab runtimes alive)

7. if opening using android (tab or phone) use auto clicker to keep google colab runtimes alive
8. fix common error on srt file using subtitle edit
9. resync the srt with the video file

happy watching

1. If you're going to do some processing on it before uploading, you should also make it mono, you're gonna save half the size and whisper is gonna do that anyway. Also, unless you have a slow upload or are in a hurry, it's better to convert it to wav instead to preserve as much quality as possible. MP3 is a very old format and a not very efficient one compared to something more modern like opus so it wouldn't be my first choice either if you want to keep the size small. A mp3 needs around 270kbps for pretty much anyone to not notice the difference from the original and opus only 128kbps.

9. Unless you cut out part of the audio or are using a directshow based converter(which are not frame accurate), you shouldn't have to resync the srt since the audio length hasn't changed.

OK, this is my first Whisper title. JUX-045 It's an old favorite r*** title of mine for which I've been wanting a sub for a long time. I cleaned it thoroughly, probably near 100% thoroughly, for several hours last night. There may be an odd sync issue or dialogue problem but not many issues left.

A couple things about Whisper. First, there are frequently uneven syncing issues that have to be fixed line by line. That happened here. Second, dialogue often gets repeated 2, 3, 4, 5 or even 6 times when it's only said once. That is a quick fix as it is just deletion. Third, Whisper is no good with whispers. There was a lot of whispered sex dialogue here that got missed. A few times I filled it in with something I made up, but these fit the scene and in some cases I could tell from context exactly what was said anyway.

Content warning: this video depicts r***, rough sex, irama (forced throating) and humiliation.

This title is about an elegant housewife who is r8ped by a construction crew doing work in her backyard. It plays the humiliaton theme well as the actress does a fine job depicting the emotions.

Thank you very much. It is very informative. Question, is 320kbps mp3 a decent one and can be similarly comparable to wav / opus in terms of quality? Because when i am doing my conversion, i always select 320kbps with volume of 400percent. From what I know 320kbps is the best quality for mp3.

Mp3 is always a lossy conversion, regardless of the bitrate and so is opus. You won't hear the difference at such a high bitrate but who knows how it can affect a computer software.

Wav, on the other side, is a mathematically lossless conversion meaning that no information is lost during the conversion and since whisper requires a mono wav file of 16kHz to do its processing which equates to 256kbps, so smaller than your mp3, it would be better to just use that directly if you need to do some processing on the audio instead of using any other format and then have whisper convert it internally again.

In practice it may change absolutely nothing or may have some impact, I doubt even the devs would know, especially since you can't get the same result twice with the same file so comparing is useless, but personally I'd try to avoid degrading the audio as much as I can.

What program are you using to extract audio, convert to wav and make mono?

Me I'd just use ffmpeg which does all that in 1 step but it's a command line software so not the easiest thing to use. Many software allow saving to wav so you just need one that give you enough control to do that.

With ffmpeg, it would look like this:
Code:
"ffmpeg.exe" -i "input.mp4" -vn -ac 1 -ar 16000 "output.wav"
But you need the full path for anything not in the current folder from the command window.

you can try using Pazera mp4 to mp3 change the audio setting into wav with mono or stereo

note : in my trial using JJBK-016, with change into wav mono, wav stereo, m4a, mp3, the result : mp3 & wav stereo get the best result but because of the translation using deeply sometime there are different meaning for the result.
but again this only tool to make a lot easier to watch jav.

The whole point is to avoid an extra mp3 conversion. And whatever input you give to whisper, it'll change it to 16k mono wav. The best result you see are just random and do not depend on the format of the input. You can feed it the exactsame audio file multiple times and you'll get a different result every time in my experience.

Are the developers constantly updating the Whisper? I hope they will make a Graphical User Interface version of it with an installer just like any other software to make it easier to use. :cerutu:

Yesterday I started converting my movies to ma4 format, I don't know yet if it's better than MP3, but I noticed an improvement when uploading my file to Collab, MP3 takes a little longer, while ma4 uploaded much faster.

I know someone else is working on making an easy to use installer for it where you can just drag your files and it'll do its thing but no clue if or when they'll release that.

M4a use aac as the codec so it has better compression than mp3 since it's more recent, but not as good as opus since it's fairly old too. People use roughly around 192kbps for it to not notice the difference, but it's a lossy format too.
