All I can say is thank you for utilizing usenet. I am extremely surprised everyone else decides to use inferior file hosting services that is prone to DMCA takedowns and waiting times. Does akiba even have a usenet forum?
Also, I might want and talk with you about tracking down some more of these XY videos. You obviously seem to have a way to accomplish this
@Kurbster, please feel free to PM me any time regarding tracking down more XYs. But in a nutshell I do not possess any special hunting powers aside from Google and Binsearch
There’s a dude who posts on a.b.m.e.asian, “Nethecite” I believe. He’s a prolific poster. He says he has more XYs to post so maybe we can coax him. He really likes my FA-PROs so far so we need to do some trades with him perhaps.
BTW, I was able to find one other volume in addition to the #55 & #65 that I mentioned yesterday. I am prepping those as I write this and will load them up in the next few hours (so THREE new ones coming asap!!). My upload speed is pretty lame so it may take a while, I usually run it overnight.
As far as trying to shift this wonderful group over to Usenet, I have been trying to be very light about this so far. I am a total newbie here so I have to take it slow. This is a BIG ship and to try to make it change course is going to take a lot of time.
But I’ll say just a few things between you and me
This whole file-sharing/Rapidshare nonsense that this entire group is built upon is completely misguided. A lot of effort has been put in to loading these files over the years and they are all going to be taken down eventually. Either the sites entirely will be shut down, or the files will be removed. It’s a guarantee.
Add to that the cost of subscribing to multiple sites. And then add to that that Megaupload (I believe it was this site) was charged with, among many crimes, money laundering. So that means your CCard and address info is now in the hands of the you-know-who. Don’t freak out and think they are going to be knocking on your door, they’re not, they have much bigger fish to fry, but it’s still not a good situation and not one I would want to be in.
Torrents. I like torrents. Quick and easy one-click. But the vulnerability is the trackers. Once they go offline there is no way to coordinate the dance. Remember Empornium? PureTNA? How many millions of hours were spent posting material there? It’s all gone now and probably gone for good. Also the internet providers of the world like Verizon, et. al. are going to continue to make the P2P stuff difficult by shutting down ports, etc…
Now, Usenet. Where do I begin? Well I begin back in the early-1990s when I was in college and on my trusty modem (I know I just dated myself there). Usenet was there then. It actually goes back to the 80s. And I was downloading lesbian images and manually decoding (UUencode!) them and piecing them together. (It was not feasible to share video back then).
Usenet is one of the oldest backbones of the internet. It is a distributed framework that would be almost impossible to dismantle. It is also a LEGAL and perfectly legitimate service to subscribe to and use. You can tell your Mom that you have a newsgroup subscription.
For our purposes it is vastly superior to the Rapidshare model. Our posts will remain up for many years to come. It’s super fast and very cheap to access as well.
The people that are saying they won’t pay for it, well I cannot even comment on that. I am dirt cheap but the value for $10/month is staggering. Not only do you get our material, but there are other posters in the lesbian and asian groups putting things up every day. I mean it’s 1/3rd the cost of buying ONE DVD!!!! It’s a bit of a learning curve, but not really.
I have only been here a short time but I love this forum already. I just want to see it thrive and sustain long into the future.
