Yes like i mentioned most of the movies are pretty awful and a lot don't even progress past the groping phase. The cut and paste scenes really are awful as are the ones which are clearly just in someone's bedroom. At the start they seemed to do it right and had scenes in actual buses and movie theatres but i guess they just weren't earning enough to sustain that so just become cheap and lazy. It would have been better to do fewer movies but at a higher quality rather than having 3 or 4 different sites which were just poor.

Yes when i was talking about the movie, i really only wanted to focus on the first hour or so, because the last half hour is some really dark and harrowing stuff. Those images depict what happened to her character after the war, as woman who slept with Nazi's were stripped. shaved and exiled for their actions. There was a number of other U.S. pornos from this period that took no prisoners. One I recall was THE DEFIANCE OF GOOD, where a sweet innocent (the actress would later go on to star in the notorious MANIAC. EDIT: Wrong! See next two posts) is influenced by her girlfriend and experiments with cocaine, whereby her strict parents have her committed in an institution. She then goes on to suffer terrible indignities. The movie also stars Fred Lincoln (who was one of the bad guys of LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT). Lookin' around, I see the movie is accessible on XVideos. (Yikes! They put a horrible watermark on the movie... what did this uploader think the movie was, JAV?)
I've never seen it, but an example of sick horror porn is reputed to be SEX WISH (1976)... starring the legendary Harry Reems; his wife gets r***ing (first among the victims), and Harry does not exactly follow in the footsteps of Charles Bronson in DEATH WISH (1974).

I was deluded. Thank you for the image of the title screen. Perhaps it was because I know of publications which showed its title without the last 's']. You were correct that it was from 1978, and not what I typed.
Somebody I know, from a few times we both were attending Cinema Wasteland expositions in Cleveland, OH., has VHS' of "Expensive Tastes", "The Defiance Of Good" (a/k/a "Defiance"), and "Sex Wish". He might have even shown them when he was presenting "Smut and Eggs" at the Twisted Spoke bar in Chicago. I did meet David Hess and Fred Lincoln [both now R.I.P.] at one Wasteland Expo when it showed "Last House On The Left". LHOTL was originally scripted as an explicit pr0n; but David Hess did not want to get naked, much less have a sex scene, so nearly all the sex was taken out of the movie. (Fred Lincoln managed to keep one love[?] scene with the daughter's mom[!] in the shoot.)
Jean Jennings was the key female in "Defiance". You're mixing her up with Kelly Nichols, and the movie you're thinking of was "The Toolbox Murders" (1978), not "Maniac" (1980).
As to where you can find these movies today, I think the best place is The Vintage Erotica Forum, but I believe you will not find "Expensive Tastes" there, not because of a DMCA action by its copyright holder, but its ToU declining 'r@pe' movies generally.

wow nice , I never knew there are h/c western films with actual stories man , but its a blast from the past. It seem lower budget than current JAVs but definitely much better in effort than current western AVs. There were real acting in the film. Dam , whatever did happen to to american AVs man?? If things have progress as it should be , who knows what they could be..

I must admit it is extremely interesting to read about these movies during the so called 'golden age of porn'. It's clear that more emphasis was put on the story and sex was delivered in bite size explosive portions to make sure that there was enough time to ensure the story was told. Of course these days it is the opposite where we see that sex scene take up far more time then that given to story.
Unfortunately, it's quite clear the film makers didn't quite have the budget to produce a high quality piece of work, and more often than not the performers hired were clearly not there for their acting abilities, as the whole thing just comes across as quite cheap. Also the sex scenes, as well as being too short, are just a confused mess with not enough direction clearly.
Now this is only a general feeling from only a short viewing of a fraction of the movies available from the time but i feel that maybe you had to be watching these movies at the time to truly appreciate their value. I wish i had more time to properly give them a watch but i feel right now that age has really hurt these movies and really fail to do anything for me sadly.
Perhaps i've been a little too negative because i do want to say that the scene that you described vincent does have it's moments. I have to say my favourite bit is when he is toying with her using his knife before cutting her underwear away. There is a genuine sense of dread coming from the actress as he slowly slides the point of the knife up and down her body which does make it quite exciting to watch. Perhaps the implied homosexuality was also there to further the excitement despite the fact that it was clearly a woman but it does show that the film makers those days were pushing the boundaries those days.
The only JAV studio that has done something similar in my eyes is Fa-Pro. They are one of my favourite studios as they do put so much emphasis on story and drama as well as pushing the boundaries of taste and legality as they often feature r*** and incest a lot in their movies. In fact i have just remembered that in FAD-1324 they had a story that featured homosexuality as well as r*** and incest, as a landlord(?) terrorizes a mother and her two teenage children. The fact that the man is quite forceful and aggressive is quite shocking to see as he takes the young daughter over and over again. The final part in that movie is also great as a stepfather aggressively goes after his stepdaughter. I wrote about it here as i attempted to (poorly) translate it.

I mean, look; when I went out searching, I came upon both codes for the next one in the FAD line, FAD-1325, which also goes by FAX-247. If FAD-1325 is also FAX-247, it stands to reason FAD-1324 should be FAX-246, right? (It's "math." You subtract one.) But, NO! I sentence you to damnation, FA-PRO!
Motey sang the praises of this fine company, and I agree, some of their movies are just plain wonderful. But many are "heavy" as well, and you've got to be in the mood. Regardless, one must be impressed, because FA-PRO movies have "heart."
Since I'm belching out words, permit two FA-PRO digressions. As I was stumbling about trying to find the FAX code for FAD-1324 and ran into FAD-1325/FAX-247, I came across these screen shots, and I liked this lady:

The movie is entitled, Life Spectrum Theater - A Wife Who… is Caught Thieving While Having a Period, is Run Ragged Drunk, Cannot Cope Unless She Gets It Everyday, is Caught Selling Her Body, starring Maria Tamaki, Yukari Asamiya, Kyoko Kazami and Yui ... no doubt she is one of those four names.
One of the heartwarming aspects for FA-PRO is that it's like (or used to be during the spoken-of period, 2009-10) an ensemble company, the same actors appearing over and over. (Look, Kyoko Kazami was also in the other movie we are talking about.) And this brings me to my second FA-PRO digression; as I was clicking the Asian Screens screen shots for one FA-PRO movie after the other, I became blisteringly aware of the same male actor faces in each of these titles. We are primarily talking about these guys.
