Garbage sexploitation/horror has usually been the closest we could get in Western cinema to the world of JAV... I have not been keeping track of the latest of what could be called "Psychotronic" fare, but some of the other titles I've come across sound pretty cool in their descriptions. (Although the odds are the viewing experience would probably be a struggle, with most.)

A reviewer writes about another Bill Zebub "masterpiece" called ANTFARM DICKHOLE (2011): "...A man masturbating a lot and shooting ants from his penis to get revenge." (Not much porn-ey about that concept, but you've got to admit... wretchedly original.)

I've just run into an article ("The Offensive Power of 'Don't Breathe's' Controversial Turkey Baster Scene") regarding a recent release I had not heard of ("DON'T BREATHE") claiming that a (sort of) r*** scene... I wanted to make you aware of a "Clips4sale" outfit I discovered by accident, called Adult Taboo Perversions.

As readers of this thread have probably come to understand, that sort of "intelligence" is very hard to find in Western, especially American, porn... except for these little fringe porn operations. Thus, a big reason why many of us here are allured by JAV.

Another thing that looked very promising was that the filmmakers appeared to "get it." Look at the way our heroine appears:



Man! I could totally buy her as the "prim and proper" type. (Look at the way "Danielle" is sitting. In the usual U.S. porn, they might cosmetically put a "proper" character's hair up and slip on a pair of eyeglasses, but you just know the actress with her fake boobs and tattoos would probably be sitting with her legs open. It is these small, smart nuances that can spell the difference between success, and failure.

This particular movie came in two parts, for a total running time of some twenty minutes, far too short; and the file sizes were immense for my blood, but it's not like one can be choosy with obscure product such as this. The second chapter was called "Forced to Please - The Slut Who Took Her Job," and it's when the action turns a little sexual. Here are screen shots for the first part.

I had a good feeling with the two players. The "slut" who had the upper hand was portrayed by an actress named "Tatiana," whom I recalled from another Clips4Sale exercise. She is a heavily accented Russian, and she was perfect in the role of the aggressor, a wonderful contrast with our very American heroine, whom by all rights should have had the cards stacked in her favor. Instead, the on-the-surface lower-class immigrant would go on to make mincemeat out of the seemingly advantaged lady. (Tatiana did a great job, using profanity and sometimes correctly exercising her dominance, with a little slap here and there. The same power dynamic was on delicious display in the movie I once raved about, A JAV That Got It Right.)



I almost always watch porn with the sound off, especially American porn, because the actresses' "porno" ad libs will almost certainly ruin the fantasy sooner or later. But I made an exception here because of my good feeling, and I was not let down. The actress who played the victim was amazing. She had a most satisfying, intelligent and vulnerable-sounding voice, she improvised her in-character lines skillfully, and when the clothes came off, had a great body. There were two blatant screw-ups; she used the word "Fuck" once, and her vagina was inexplicably pierced, but we can't expect perfection. (It would have also been far more gratifying if our buttoned-up character was not so immediately accepting of the indignities the villainess laid upon the heroine... but oh, well.)

It turned out this actress was Danielle Reage; it's too bad she has apparently not done very much (no IAFD page for her, evidently.... as an example).

With all of the great things this porno had going for it, did it work?

The problem with Clips4Sale movies is that they take the first word of their description too literally, and the action often ends when things only begin to get rolling. (Kind of makes us appreciate that JAVs are often at minimum two hours... doesn't it? Even when there is a lot of unimaginative "filler." Better filled than unfilled.)

The company has done a superlative job of protecting their product against piracy, at least in the world of non-torrents. A search for Adult Taboo Perversions hardly came up with anything.

When I went to their "store," I was thrilled by the plot descriptions for the product that came up in the first couple-of-dozen pages. You know, while digging that post up, I was reminded of the reason why it had attracted my attention... an irresistible GIF advertisement from porn tube sites. There was another such GIF ad that promised "punch" which had grabbed me, and when I learned what it was and watched it, I was impressed.



(See, you might remember that view from your porn travels as well... the ad was plastered widely, at one time.) Not long ago I watched a 1983 Spanish movie called COTO de CAZA (A.K.A. Code of Hunting). I would not normally have brought this film up as an example of "Western Porn Bringing JAV to Mind, and How Well They Succeed" (inasmuch as this example, as with many of our prior examples, is not literally "porn"), and the reason I am doing so is not so much for that, but because I have seen a JAV that followed roughly the same lines.

The movie stars Assumpta Serna as a beautiful bleeding-heart defense lawyer who thinks criminals deserve a break.



Her car gets stolen and the thieves target her and her family. They do something devastating to one of her family members.Yet as in your usual ATTACKERS movie, the wrong-doers keep coming back and become the bane of her existence. In the concluding scene (these guys had already been established as being especially brutal), they r*** her... in front of her young children, yet... and they do something particularly sadistic that surprised even jaded and "having-seen-it-all" me.



I was also mildly shocked that the sight of a woman's genitalia would be allowed in a "regular" movie. (Gotta credit the Spaniards for not being repressed! At least not during the post-Franco era... We also need to credit Señorita Serna for being so brave, and dedicated. Can you imagine a Hollywood counterpart considering such lengths of exposure, even during that earlier and freer era?)

At any rate, the predictable happens. We get the "MS. 45" and "I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE" conclusion. (Moral of the story: Compassion for criminals is misplaced, and as a general rule, we should coldly lock them up and throw away the key... as has become the credo of the United States for the most part, especially since the days of Ronnie Reagan.)

As an aside, the reason I sought this JAV out was because of a post I put up in the AV Directors thread, which I concluded by mentioning I no longer seek out titles by directors. I then got the renewed urge to check out what some favorite directors have been up to. With this one, I was impressed with something unusual that the director, Sadao Sadaoka, had done. As Humdrum stands before the judge, Sadaoka's camera kept circling Humdrum. That's a fancy "real movie" maneuver one does not often see in pornos.

Anyway...

Airi gets Humdrum off, little realizing how much more she will be getting Humdrum off... and again, and again.

Amusing. I was just thinking about how porn has really gone down hill and was going to start a thread asking why and how is it fixed. Looks like I'm not alone in feeling this way.

To be fair, it looks like it's at least partially a taste thing. For people who like a certain style of porn, there is just more of it and they are writing that 2016 was great.

BUT, the fact remains that porn has changed a lot since the early 2000s. I thought maybe it was just me getting used to porn as one poster suggested earlier in this thread. So, I went down memory lane and downloaded some old Mike John and Jules Jordan videos. Nope. That porn is still WAY better than the vast majority of todays scenes. There were far more great looking active regulars and newcomers showing up back then. The camera work was done better. The themes were better. The action was more intense. The distracting gimmicks from the 80s were gone. And there was just a lot more professional level content coming out (not counting the sea of craptastic amature porn that we have now). Some of those studios made multiple 15+ sequel DVD series in 2 year spans, almost entirely with new women in every scene.

The economic explanation others have given sounds plausible. I guess the money in porn is actually more than ever industry-wide. But, it's also more evenly spread out at many levels. It seems like the type of porn I liked from the 2000s relied on there being more consolidated money? Something about the DVD vs Web model? Does anyone know of any articles/interviews where producer old-timers give insight into what has happened?

I appreciate the comments about VR. Sounds like something I need to try. But, for me, the content is more important than the tech. I'll take a Mike John DVD quality movie over a 2016 web download 4k scene any day. What I would really love to see is that old style come back WITH greater resolution and/or VR. So, I'm a bit skeptical that VR might be impressive on the fidelity level but still boring, formulaic action with the same 5 women and same 4 dudes.

I felt like Japan AV still depends on selling physical discs by giving some incentives to take photos with idols at events. US Porn save cost by releasing web exclusive scenes for almost an decade like Naughty America. Av actresses still make a lot by filming promos in Asia though. Some American pornstars still makes a lot of money through pole stripping in big cities. Loli Veronica Rodriguez & Lexi Belle(retired) are some of the examples.
